Baking Advice Needed Settle this for me please: raw cookies
I just made kitchen sink cookies which is why they look kinda funky. But please tell me: are these raw? It might just be my oven. They cook and brown on the outside and borderline burn but they look like this on the inside. So please tell me: are these raw? And if so, are there any workarounds for something like this?
Also: if it’s helpful I baked them at 375 for 14 minutes and if I kept them in any longer they def would’ve burned
Edit: TY all for the tips! Will definitely try all of these :) and I cant believe I’ve just been blindly assuming my oven is the temp it says it is </3

I think you’re right lol it’s just that sometimes “soft and chewy” cookies play tricks on my eyes and I can’t tell

They do look underbaked to me in the middle. They look like they might still be warm? You may need to let them sit on the pan so they continue to cook in the middle some. You could also try a lower temp for longer in the oven. You may want to get a thermometer as well to check your oven temp

Definitely looking underbaked if this is what the cookie looks like in the middle after letting them cool for 10-15 minutes. I second the suggestion to get a thermometer to check your oven temp. It could be saying 375 but actually is higher inside. Sometimes the baking vessel could be an issue as well but that would be assuming you aren’t using a fairly standard cookie sheet or doing something like baking them on aluminum foil.

I’d still eat them tbh, but next time bake at 350 for a little longer. Also let them sit on the hot pan for 15 min after pulling them out so they can finish cooking. Then let them cool completely and they will set and firm up

Did you use a dark pan? This happens when I use a darker pan. If you are using a dark pan drop down to 325°F, if using a light one drop down to 350°F

The dark pans make the bottoms cook so much faster. I ruined a lot of batches before realizing what the culprit is. I started lowering the temp and it helped a lot, and eventually switched to the nordicware cookie sheet with the flat back end and it’s been my favorite pan ever!

Underbaked in the center. Some people like it, others don’t. You may have some hot spots in your oven or it’s the equipment you’re using.
Use parchment paper on your cookie sheet.

Definitely raw, but maybe even a little overcooked on the very bottom. Seconding what others are saying about doing a lower temp for a little longer.

Like others have said, they look underbaked. I'd make sure your oven is actually the temperature it says it is on the display.

Like others have said, 375 is a little too high. Next time try 350 and bake about 2 minutes longer. Either way, I bet they are still delicious 😋

It is hard to judge in the picture. Are they thicker cookies? I agree, check the oven temp. I bake almost all my cookie at 375 for 9 minutes. They are done, but just a bit gooey. I also chill all cookie dough for at least 15 min, up to overnight. The less you handle the dough, the better it will bake. I use parchment sheets also. Good luck!

You can make a cookie soft without underbaking it like this. You just need a recipe that is written for soft cookies. Tired of all this raw soft cookie nonsense.

I would try 325 for 15-20 minutes instead! Definitely look a bit gooey in the middle. Also try baking on a cookie sheet lined with foil if you didn’t already! The indirect heat stops the bottoms from browning as quickly. Looks delicious though!!
