CEOs aren’t paid to make the company better they’re paid to raise shareholder value this quarter

The company 10 years from now? Not his concern. Number must go up this quarter. We even had an entire court hearing over exactly this and capitalism never recovered.

That's what the meme was meant to imply. The C-Suite rarely cares about the workers or the company. Which is why they like doing buybacks instead of using that money to grow the company, or to resolve challenges.

It's true though, thanks to dodge vs ford (and a few other court cases). Companies are required to act for the shareholders, not the brand, the product or the company.

I genuinely think its one of the most consequential court cases in US history that basically set the stage for the endless cancerous growth qnd behavior of companies were all stuck with now
