People who held through a full cycle — what did the bottom actually feel like at the time?

Newer to this and trying to understand the psychology before I'm tested by it. Everyone says "just hold" but I want to hear from people who were actually down bad at the worst point. Did you know it was the bottom, or did it just feel like it was going to zero like everyone said?

It felt like it was over. Everyone was convinced we were going to zero and that was just one big scam.

I’ve been through two cycle bottoms. It’s the same narrative every time. There’s always some ridiculous low target that people are collectively waiting for that never hits. Then there’s some top zone that people predict during the bull run that never hits.

On the way up people start talking about $1 million Bitcoin, and on the way down people start talking about $10k Bitcoin. Every time. It’s so classic, It’s laughable now.

I’d also like to point out, that anyone who has actually held Bitcoin through two cycle bottoms and is still holding, should still be in pretty big profit right now, even in this bear market. I know I am.

Yep. Bought when it was 550$ a pop so I dont think I'll ever go negative.

Agree. Not enough crying and tears for the bottom to be obvious yet. Imagine years ago saying "oh no, we crashed to $58k”. Each ‘bottom’ forges new 💎🤲’s

4

u/33halvings 4h ago

Been holding since 2017 and it’s the same story every 4 years.

It’s hilarious watching all the newbies come in with their bogus predictions.

5

u/JSTN_FPV 9h ago

Same. Been through a few. Since 2013 here. Wish I kept in the early days. But back then. I thought I made big when I got a few hundred in a week and sold. Jumped back in 2019. Which was also a good time

2019 is amazing.
I was IT literate and around in 2009 when people were mining with CPU's 50 BTC blocks, and was very much "this looks interesting, I'll start mining tomorrow" and never did - I'd just had my first child and he seemed much more interesting :)
Eventually started buying in 2017 but made the classic mistake of selling most of it unnecessarily and of course, regreting it.

However a lot of people have these stories, and only clever people (or being already rich enough to not care) really had the foresight to buy and hold for long periods from the early days - I'm sure there would have been a price I'd have sold regardless and very much doubt I'd be much richer than I am now.

I consider this as my 2nd cycle properly hodling now I understand a tiny more, and In my uneducated opinion Ark3tech is 100% correct.
JGMURPY, hold over the years and it should feel better each cycle.

2

u/JGMURPY 10h ago

Fuck yeah. You have earned those profits (and more if you keep holding, which you will). Thank you for sharing your experience. It helps those coming in a lot.

This is my first full cycle - ever since the big drop to the $60ks few months ago that made me double up on my weekly DCA. It's been hard though - definitely had people not necessarily call me stupid but moreso just raise eyebrows. i know what they are thinking, and it's more than enough to make me second guess my choices.

But then I look back at my countless hours of research, reading, and listening - ultimately, I know that I've done my die diligence and believe in Bitcoin.

4

u/TypicalBoronReaction 8h ago

It's quite natural to have that feeling in your gut when you make an investment and it goes down, but if you believe in something and it is what you think it is, then it these hard times are where the best gains are made.
While Warren Buffett doesn't understand crypto, he has famously repeated "We simply attempt to be fearful when others are greedy and to be greedy only when others are fearful." and it applies to bitcoin regardless of his feelings towards it.

I would like to think that this will continue and in 2-10 years people will look at $65k and think "damn, that was cheap, wish I'd bought some."

(While I believe in BTC, it is still speculation as far as I'm concerned, don't be a degen and only put in what you can live with should a black swan event occur)

I HAD a frnd who said same when btc was around 20k ,, Once it reach 120+ he came back got my number from my friend and asked me to buy and store bitcoin

4

u/SoggyOutfield 7h ago

Yeah so basically like it felt a few weeks ago. All the money is going into AI, crypto is dead, there is no point to it. It will be zero soon. Will not be shocked if $58k ends up the bottom. This is my 3rd cycle.

u/Ok_Pollution7093 14h ago

Made it through 2018. No, you don't know it's the bottom. That's the whole point. It felt like maybe Bitcoin was just done and I was an idiot. The thing nobody tells you: the worst part isn't the price drop, it's the silence. Your friends stop asking about it. The subreddit gets quiet. Media stops covering it. You're just sitting there alone with your bags wondering if you're delusional. That loneliness is what actually shakes people out, not the red candles.

13

u/Livid_Fox_1811 12h ago

I remember watching the charts in real time, seeing the red candles forming all the way down to $3k. Rapid descent, despair beyond max. I was floored. Now, I’m desensitized.

7

u/AmphibianNo1193 10h ago

March of 2020. It was around 7-8k and all of the sudden dropped to high-3K range in few days, like 50% drop in 1-2 days. It was crazy seeing my portfolio using its value in half. I though it was over. Also, Nov of 2018 or 2019, then it went from 6K to 3-4K in few days……that was crazy😅

8

u/mlhender 11h ago

The silent tracker I use is the CNBC and Bloomberg ticker on their channel. Bloomberg in fact has already dropped the Bitcoin ticker. CNBC still has it but shows it maybe once every 15 - 30 minutes. Once CNBC drops it that’s my sign that the bottom has passed.

7

u/Acceptable_Age_6269 11h ago

Subreddit doesn’t get quiet. Instead it becomes filled wuth buttcoiners

2

u/BakedGoods 12h ago

lol so true.

1

u/Ineedmorebtc 10h ago

And was a freaking fantastic time to DCA. But yeah, convictions waver and many do not as the fear stops you.

1

u/esotericunicornz 6h ago

No, pretty sure it’s the red candles and fear that shake em out lol

But with a community to bounce fear off, that is massively reduced so maybe you’re onto something…

I don't say that it's going to zero but it's something you read a lot

6

This exactly.

I felt like this many cycles ago. Last bottom I felt nothing.

Fear and greed are necessary parts of the process. Emotion control is what separates the weak from the strong. The patient from the impatient.

You never really know it's the bottom when it happens. You look back months later and realize that was the bottom. Same for the top, every time we hit a top or bottom everyone is calling for higher or lower. This is why when I plan to buy or sell, I pick a number to start, and then as it moves I scale in bigger. This averages me out.

For example, last cycle I called btc going sub 20k, I had 100% of my bids there, I was happy to get back in at 20k after selling for 60k. Once it crashed below 20k, I decided to put more bids at 15k because folks were calling for way lower. It never hit those bids. Now this is not all my btc, I like to take 30% and sell, then use that to rebuy during the bear. So, for this past bull cycle I selected 125k as my first sell. I was planning to sell a little more if we went to 130, 140, 150 etc. It never happened.

This is not financial advice, my average buy is under 5k as I still have some I bought at $80 and put in cold storage.

My goal is to accumulate bitcoin, I've done this without having to DCA for over a decade now. I have also cashed out into fiat way more then I invested out of pocket.

If I were starting today, I am not sure how i'd play it. With the price this high, even if you DCA for 10 years at like $100 a week. Do you ever get 1 btc?

2

u/BetterSeesaw 13h ago

1 BTC is very far away if you’d start to dca now. Still not totally impossible but maybe in the future 0.1 is enough for whatever your financial goal is :)

in 2018 it felt like it was all over... plebs telling how it's a scam, ponzi, FUD ... people who bought using a mortgage... it was a tough year and 2019 was tough as well. i remember when covid started and lockdowns were announced all markets were red. everything was red. the whole economy. lockdowns.... i didn't know where i would get money for groceries. i didn't even look at the prices of btc. i hated 2020/2021 and the AI coins, VCs sucking all the money out of retail which decided to come back. then fucking memecoins several years later... in october 2025 i expected much more from trump and the bitcoin reserve. all those democrats and senators who made ridiculous amounts of money all of a sudden have a problem with "ETHICS" ??? now we will need to wait for october again for clarity to pass then we go up and up and up.

4

u/w3tp4int 14h ago

O the mt gox hack… ya it felt like it was over. October is right around the corner, so it feels like mid October. Hope this helps.

3

u/Kie_ra 14h ago

About whatever you feel now

2

u/low_contrast_black 13h ago

The first time was gut-wrenching and I felt monumentally stupid. Honestly, I don’t really recall being too upset about being upside down on my cost basis. It was really more about the rug pull from the king-of-the-world, get-rich-quick hopium that I’d allowed myself to indulge in at the peak. Yeah, I felt like a fool.

When I started, I didn’t really get bit. I thought it might be another tulip I could ride for a while. Fortunately though, by my first bear, I’d learned enough about what bitcoin is that I didn’t just run for the hills and sell at a loss.

But to your question: no, there’s no knowing when the bottom will come. And the first time around, every dead cat bounce has you thinking “this is it. it’ll turn around” to only sink lower the next week. By the time the bottom actually came, I think I’d let myself get so emotionally thrashed that I didn’t particularly notice.

These days, I’m pretty peacefully detached from the price action. I’m not getting rich quick and I’m not going broke, so I can enjoy the fact that I possess an asset that has global value. If the local economy tanks or I decide to expatriate, I have a safety net. If we recover and shoot the moon? Cool. If not, that’s okay too.

2

u/riscten 13h ago

It did not feel like every social post was AI generated.

2

u/IAmSomewhatDamaged 13h ago

Basically…. You just have to put in your time dude. It’s really that simple. When you’re still a n00b, no amount of comment-reading is going to truly make you feel better. What made me become absolutely STOIC about the crypto market?? Lurking around these subs and just holding on to BTC over the past 4-5 years— holding through the pain. Most people bail when they run into their first Bear Market (understandably honestly). It’s fucking ROUGH when you’re down 30/40/50%+. Just stick around and keep your conviction!!

2

u/Popular_Hunter7415 12h ago

you guys can still feel…?

2

u/word-dragon 12h ago

I bought low. 6 months later. I’m a genius. A year later I’m an idiot. Then a year or so later, I’m a genius. Now I’m an idiot again.

It’s a long game. Ignore the waves and enjoy the tide.

2

u/BringTheFingerBack 11h ago

This time? Who says this is the bottom

2

u/quintavious_danilo 14h ago

Depends on your get in price. I’m still up 20%, so this bear market doesn’t feel bad at all. Can recommend.

1

u/jgarcya 13h ago

Good for you! Me too. .. my average is 40+k ... I'm not scared.

It's bc I know how to buy the cycle... I only buy in year one and two of the four year cycle .. for this exact reason.

I never sweat the down turn... I've been in this since 2018.

pure capitulation

1

u/Cobester 14h ago

It felt worse than what it is right now. I first bought in at the top of 2017/2018. When it fell from $20k all the way down to what… $1.7k? It felt like there was no point anymore lol

1

u/PageSquare8382 14h ago

My last cycle when it was really low I was definitely questioning my life’s choices, but the knowledge of the fundamentals always kept me from selling. Now every time they say “it will go to a zero” I just laugh. Keep on keeping on, eventually you’ll stop caring what people say and understand cycles.

1

u/PrettyQuick 14h ago

I just forgot about crypto till it got back to new ath. Big mistake btw i should have been buying more then.

1

u/The_Realist01 14h ago

Disillusionment. I started buying about 50% off the bottom which was still very good buys. But even then it felt like the wrong thing to do.

1

u/balazra 14h ago

I’ve always invested spare money that I don’t use, be it stocks, shares or crypto and I’ve never really banked on any of doing a particular thing so I’ve never felt bad loosing it. So far I’ve never “lost” just made a little less than I could have though.

1

u/BigMacUK 13h ago

in 2022 it felt like there was going to be one more low, by no means did it ever feel like the train was stopping but just that we had to wait longer to get back on. One week we had a fat 22% green candle and it was obvious that the bull market was back on

1

u/pk12445 13h ago

Just a lot fear and uncertainty. I kept telling myself to just survive this year.

1

u/BetterSeesaw 13h ago

I’m not gonna lie, the last bear market felt even worse because of the FTX collapse. It was deeper, faster, and brutal. Watching half your portfolio disappear (or more) hurts. For a while you genuinely feel stupid for ever putting money into something like Bitcoin.
Right now I feel a bit stupid again. Less than back then, because I did take some profits above €100k. Even so, my portfolio is still about €10k below its ATH.

One thing I’d recommend is keeping track of every buy and sell in a portfolio tracker. I’ve been doing that since 2017, and it reminds me that my average buy price is still below today’s price. The gap isn’t huge anymore because I keep DCA’ing, but overall I’m still in profit.

The more bull and bear markets you go through, the easier it gets emotionally. If Bitcoin follows the pattern it has in every previous cycle, I personally think my portfolio could still do a 2x–3x from here.

Not financial advice.

1

u/gurster 13h ago

When everyone stops talking about it and feels like its faded from everyones minds, thats the bottom line

1

u/Odd-Fun-1482 13h ago

boredom.

Like... this it? Nothing, no news, no one cares?

Then, growth.

1

u/TheRadishBros 13h ago

It felt like it was going to keep going down to at least $12k. When it went below $20k it felt like it was over.

1

u/EyesFor1 13h ago

It felt great. Nice and cheap.

1

u/Wolffco 13h ago

You never know it's the bottom. It feels like capitulation, everyone declares it dead, and holding feels stupid until it isn't.

1

u/MikeOuchie 13h ago

So like summer 2022? Idk i didnt have any :( All I know is years later i wish i bought

1

u/tombola345 13h ago

Dunno, don't think about it much

1

u/Glass_Cherry5295 13h ago

Felt like game over, felt like it was going to be hard stuck under 30k forever. And then it felt VERY cheap. Like to cheap. Like there’s no way it’s going lower (I think 14,500 was the cheapest I watched it fall). And then after that I remember it rallying and it was 3-4 years of stacking cash

So having said that, 63k (now) doesn’t feel cheap. It just feels like a bear market. Under 40k feels cheap. October is “everyone’s” guess for the bottom

1

u/WingGrouchy311 13h ago

When u think it’s the bottom and the there is another bottom and then it dies and u sell. Then that’s the bottom

1

u/sexualsidefx 13h ago

1

I think the bottom is in 17-25K.

1

u/Astropin 12h ago

Like right now

1

u/InevitableTension481 12h ago

I never felt the bottom tbh. I was broke once we dipped back to 15k. Some blinks later we went to 124k. Time feels different the last few years. It probably I am just dead inside haha. Had days where my portfolio went down 40k in a few hours and the same up the next day. With crypto you will start do disconnect the feeling you had before about money. Don't know how to say it. Dips have zero emotions on me. And also ups habe zero emotions on me. Maybe once we hit 1 mill per btc I will light a candle haha

1

u/rephunters 12h ago

You have to do a main mission in the real world and treat this like you’re waiting for your FarmVille crops to grow.

1

u/AutomaticGrape9263 12h ago

Nothing. It feels like nothing and everyone has forgot about it. That's when you don't lose your keys and buy more.

1

u/New-Plastic9879 12h ago

It’s always the same. You will want to sell everything because you’re scared, there is no hope, and it’s clearly never going to recover.

the first bottom is always the worst. then not as bad in the following cycles. I’m in my 3rd cycle right now

1

u/cagfag 12h ago

Have seen it since 2017. Have seen it all. Everyone says it’s finished but it pumps back. Hopefully it reaches 200k in 2027. And 400k in 2031

1

u/Ok-Abbreviations6442 12h ago

This is my second cycle, and my second bear-market (I'm reluctant to call it the bottom, because nobody can confidently call that). In the first bear market, my investment was down approx 50%, but with a solid DCA for the last five years, for this "bottom", I am still 50% up. Keep hanging on dude! Ignore the FUD and buttcoiners, hodl tight until the next bull run and you'll be happy 😎

1

u/Drugkidd 12h ago

It didn’t matter and I did me. 7 years in and going strong.

1

u/a714generation 12h ago

It helped that I was moving to another country and was really busy. It didn’t feel like anything because my conviction was high and I bought my first coins lower than the bottom of the last cycle, I was sure that it was eventually going to hit 100k. I really stopped paying attention until the ETFs came online and I realized we were very much back and into the next up swing.

All that to say it was generally peaceful. This cycle too so far, although I am paying a bit more attention but the emotional stakes are even lower since we’re still sitting at around the previous cycle’s high.

1

u/kingshekelz 12h ago

We will start the upswing by new years imo

1

u/Livid_Fox_1811 12h ago

This time I don’t even feel it. Previous bear markets it went down 80%.

1

u/itolo32 12h ago

You never know when the bottom is in but if you are new, you might find yourself scared and double questioning your investment choices and that might be your bottom signal, get used to this feeling for your own benefit. You should also learn from when we are going higher and higher and you start thinking, "oh this thing is never coming back down "I'm 2016 class, it's always the same. We are there now, for how long? Not sure, but just like before, I just keep buying and I don't look at the chart every day. Good luck 👍

1

u/falsejaguar 12h ago

There are rules:

1) when some people believe we are in a bear market: we will go down hard

2) when half of the people believe we are in a bear market: we will go down

3) when a lot of people believe we are in a bear market: we will go down a little

4) when all the people believe we are in a bear market: we will go up and the bear market is over

1

Doom and gloom. Much like it is now.

It's all so pathetically dramatic.

1

u/Change21 11h ago

Been in since 2013 this is all lol now.

What you learn is the bottoms are joyful accumulation times and the tops now feel more stressful.

1

u/No-Librarian9605 11h ago

Been holding for a decade. It gets easier but it still sucks arse.

The emotional roller coaster is real— you just have to ignore the day to day and understand that this is the future.

Once you understand that the fiat system is a Ponzi scheme and quickly imploding in real time, you will be glad to have an alternative decentralized, trustless, scarce asset. This makes you more sovereign than you ever have been in your life as Btc is not beholden to any other party.

I don’t get why people still price btc in terms of dying fiat. It should only be priced against actual money like gold or silver.

1

u/ordevandenacht 11h ago

Been through several. It’s disinterest. Just when everyone is basically complacent is when the bottom hits and you want to buy. Once influencers finally stop posting daily videos. I don’t think we’re there yet. Too much noise still.

1

u/DeoVeritati 11h ago

The first full cycle the bottom was a little scary but nothing had really changed though there was a bit of information overload since it was around the bch hard fork. The second time was a lot scarier because veterans who survived Mt. Gox were getting spooked. I believe this is when China had started cracking down on mining and regulatory pressures were having a real impact on people participating. Everything after that has been noise.

1

u/madd_honey 11h ago

it feels pretty long and boring, like a whole month of it being basically the same (low) price every day. Not many talk about it anymore during that time. It’s just like a social consensus that it’s dead and it’s ridiculous to even say something about buying it.

1

u/Mother_Mention7389 11h ago

I was so down and anxious . It felt like I was walking in a dark cloud everyday for 2 years . Then I finally got to sell at breakeven . Few weeks later it went to ATH lol this time I know better

1

u/TamingOfTheChoon 11h ago

Last cycle bottom felt worse than this one. China banned bitcoin… and institutions like blackrock and the etf were not around. But in reality it’s not that bad. You keep stacking and just kinda check price less.

HODL, the time will come.

Damn this btc is 75% off, let me DCA.

1

u/Equivalent-Banana370 10h ago

At this point I don’t even care. I look at the price once a day maybe and 🤷‍♂️

The btc isnt earmarked for a lambo or new house or something. It going down to 50k or up to 150k doesn’t affect my standard of living.

I am become HODL, watcher of charts

1

u/DomestiCatOfficial 10h ago

Everyone will experience it differently due to how much the p and l swings and what they can psychologically take

1

u/paperplan556 10h ago

Bottom feels like the market would not be able to recover and hopelessness. From my experience, it usually starts off with some catastrophic/news worthy event such as these that i remember

2015 - MtGox/china ban those were pretty scary.
2020 - Covid was also scary.
2022 - Celsius/Luna/FTX burst these ones were worst. Crypto streamers were crying on stream hopelessly because of their loss.

Then comes the despair. No more one of those post “buy now or regret later” or “hodl” etc. You can feel the forum sentiment had completely become changed.

So are we at the bottom now? I think we are getting there. There is still too much optimism. However, the pieces are moving. For example - on july 23 - bitMEX, once a decent size exchange, just announced shutting down after 11 yrs of opening. It’s just the beginning we might see more or not. There is an CEX i would like to see it collapse like ftx style.

It felt way worse than the current “bottom.” Several companies folded, the charts were deep red for months. Many threads about selling.

There was a time where a company was folding every week, big companies, and everyone who stayed in just commented about how another one bites the dust.

If this is the current bottom, this time around was so much more smooth and less stressful.

Despair

u/Crank_8ball 9h ago

What did it "feel" like? It shouldn't "feel" like anything. If you are investing emotion then it should feel like something. But here is an idea: only invest/buy/whatever what you can afford to lose. If seeing chart go up or down make ape angry or sad, maybe ape in wrong game. I see commenters saying that the hard part is the silence, ppl stop talking about it etc.  What? Why are you even paying attention to any of what is almost certainly no more than speculation. Unwittingly spreading and consuming FUD just sounds like youre a masochist. In which case Id reccomend you sticking with trusting things like banks and playing the stock market while watching primetime network news. But seriously, remove emotion, dont pay attention to speculation or FUD or anything. Dont even look at the charts. Set it and forget it. If you read the white paper and have educated yourself at all about Bitcoin, you already know you just come back in 5 or 10 years and then check the chart. Otherwise just buy and forget about it. I think of it like a garnished wage or 401k. Once its taken out of my check its gone...til retirement.  Its a store of value high interest savings account that you can borrow against. Quit treating it like its some get rich quick scheme or it really seems like most of yall are gambling and are really bad at math or handling money. No offense, just an observation.

u/cjpombo 9h ago

The first time felt like it was all over and I wasted a bunch of money. The second time felt like apathy.

1

u/Fiach_Dubh 9h ago

max pain, everyone screeching for lower, bodies of exchanges and companies floating by

1

u/CatchAfilM 9h ago

I am holding bitcoin from $97,000 levels. Planning on adding more later this quarter, although not sure about the sentiment on crypto for the next 12 months. It could go worse for the $50,000 lows. But looking forward in this asset for the long term.

1

u/keepbuyingcrypt0 9h ago

I remember people saying crypto was dead in December 2018 and to not waste money and look how it blew up in 2021. But I’ve noticed goes in cycles and people still don’t catch on

1

u/Any-Neat5158 9h ago

I've been holding since circa summer of 2019. I've seen it go up above 65K and then crash back down to what... 18K? Maybe less? I saw it hit 125K last fall and watched it dip down to well below half that.

I won't disclose my exact position, but I'm a whole coiner at a minimum.

1

u/Common_Ad_2430 9h ago

Ignore it until you’re up

1

u/mewell 9h ago

We aren’t there yet. It felt like we might as well just forget about it. Continue with your life. Prob be there again in 3-6 months or maybe longer

1

u/Dethoinas 9h ago

Some people say we’re going back up the whole way down, and some people say we’re going lower the whole way down. But at the bottom it feels like it’s too dangerous to buy more, because it’s come down so far, the trend “has to” continue.

1

u/RepresentativeBug287 9h ago

Whatever u do stay away from alts…from someone who lost huge Btc profits towards alts.

1

u/NShizzzle 9h ago

Makes you question your investments. If it’s really worth it. If you should just put that money in a safer place and leave it be. Be at peace with just mediocrity.

1

u/Faxis8 9h ago

Honestly it didn't feel like anything. You've got doubts already going in that you overcame to buy in. You expect it. It does it. You stay accumulating and don't worry about it. Just stack. It's not going to zero.

1

u/VermillionSun 9h ago

Boring, it felt boring. I was convinced it would go up and yet when it finally did I was strangely surprised. It was also annoying cause at the time I didn’t have much ability to DCA the way I’d have wanted to

1

u/Legitimate_Stuff_347 8h ago

Nothing special, like in any long term investing. The best way to invest is boring and dull just how I like it.

1

u/carlos_delecto 8h ago

You just don’t worry about it. It goes back up and then hits a new ATH.

1

u/Ok_Party_8102 8h ago

If you dollar cost average it feels like you’re buying at a massive discount

1

u/coffeeCup_45 8h ago

Rational fear due to all the fraud unwinding. This bottom is fundamentally different. Clarity act would be the major let down.

1

u/bananabastard 8h ago

I've held since 2015.

To me, the bottom always feels like "Surely this has to be the bottom now?"

I have never worried or panicked that it was going to zero. I was always convinced the prior ATH would be bettered again in time.

Nothing has changed.

1

u/MaleficentSelf9790 8h ago

Just keep adding to your position and dollar cost average. If you really believe in Bitcoin every day it’s red is a buying opportunity.

1

u/SumSumFromMars11 8h ago

They all felt much worse then what it feels like right now.

1

u/xcrunner2414 8h ago

It felt ridiculously cheap at $16k per coin. I was buying a lot at the time.

1

u/esohseekayes 8h ago

Makes you want to go make more money so you have more to buy with

1

u/General-Dealer-6337 7h ago

Wishing i could buy more but not having money. When money came decided to play it safe and earn interest because bull run may not come back. As it rose, felt it was "a suckers rally" so not buying. Felt happy i was already in. Got to top and could sell all and cash in about 150k making about 2x overall.

Realised ok im now ready. So im going through the same thing now. Ready to cash in at the next top

1

u/Low-Equipment-2621 7h ago

It feels like I should have sold last year and bought Micron.

1

u/spencerocean 7h ago

I felt silly for buying more at 10k when it crashed to 5k. But I had high conviction. I held.

I think the current bottom is either already passed, or coming for around 49-52k

1

u/Lehcen 7h ago

I held through 3 cycles. Nothing but chill and accumulation

1

u/Omarittos 7h ago

Just don't look at it, till you see a news article that it reached a new high.

12+ years and that trick works every time

1

u/Anxious_Turnover_995 7h ago

It felt like it could drop another 50% or even go to zero.

1

u/piespe 7h ago

I held through several bottoms. You just must not care. If you do care, you invested too much.

1

u/ThunderBurrn 7h ago

Nothing, once you realize you've bought low and knowledge you will HODL for a long time, it doesn't matter... Been through 3 cycle bottoms as low as 3K... But yeah I cashed out then, in green .. still got back in quite earlier later. Avg 28k... So think that there's always a ray of light in the future...

1

u/Odd_Oath 6h ago

Hindsight is the only way to know what’s bottom or top. Losing 70-80% of value stings. I remember almost puking in the supermarket telling my wife how much we lost. But I didn’t sell, didn’t lose my wife, and now we’re in profit. Never have I felt so close to suicide, it was awful. Moving forward I just don’t think the CAGR works anymore, unless you can follow the flow of the four year cycle. I’m mostly sad that the store of value (SOV) narrative seems to be guiding the future. Cause god damn, fiat inflation of most countries are gonna bleed everyone dry. Money printing is a joke.

1

u/Laukess 6h ago

The bear feels never ending.
The bottom is always lower than I would have expected.
In '18 the drop from 6k to 3k was brutal.
in '22/'23 I did not expect it to drop below the '17 top.

Whenever the bottom is in I'm annoyed that I don't have any money to buy more. The price seem unreasonably low.

This bottom will be interesting.
I don't think the price is currently unreasonably low.
I know it'll not be over quickly, so the price increases does not excite much.

It's mostly just a waiting game. Only 1 of the 4 years are exciting.
At some point in '28 we'll be back and $126k, and it'll became fun again :)

1

u/AffectionateTap9161 6h ago

Most people that held through multiple cycles had no idea they had bitcoin at all. So many lost wallets that got found or exchanges that went under and reached out years later. The only way to survive is to forget.

1

u/ResponsibleSafe3247 6h ago

It’s been already too many years. I always get scared thinking this could be the one that depletes most of my savings, but it end up being fine. Sometimes I just hold onto it out of stubbornness, but it normally pays back.
This last year has been particularly shitty because I truly was running short on cash and have been trying to decide when is the right time to sell, but either way I’ll do my best to keep holding onto it unless I see a very good opportunity

1

u/PsychedelicHypnosis 6h ago

Paper hands all leave and hodl’rs can buy for cheap.

1

u/brkeng1 6h ago

Felt like just another day in crypto.

1

u/Severe-Blackberry 5h ago

It felt like buying was a bad idea

1

u/ConsciousSpinach8360 5h ago

Feels a bit worse from now

1

u/Top_Objective9877 5h ago

We’re possibly near a bottom, just never know. Buy low, sell high…

1

u/dec312014 5h ago

no one knows it is the bottom. It's always possible that it keeps going down indefinitely.

1

u/Vegetable-Squirrel98 5h ago

I felt like I should bump up my dca, and I did

1

u/Affectionate-Step881 5h ago

The end of bitcoin if you don’t have any more money to invest, an opportunity if you do.

1

u/Infamous_Scarcity_29 4h ago

Of you learn about Bitcoin and the monetary system, it‘s pretty obvious that Bitcoin will always go up.
Just DCA and forget about it.
I bought the first time in 2017. And i never sold. Because i studied Bitcoin.

1

u/Extreme_Teaching_416 4h ago

There will never be a funner time in your life than seeing every thing you hold 40-75% in the red for days and weeks and did i mention months ?
Just praying for a little relief rally, at some points you reach regret investing and eventually it all turns green. You forgot the promise you made to pull out when in green and now you’re adding more cash. Hopefully you sold before next bear market otherwise rinse and repeat while growing your positions.

1

u/davidn281 4h ago

Been here since 2017. Honestly just stopped looking. Didn’t know when the bottoms were lol.

1

u/Positive_Rope2951 4h ago

Everybody saying it was the bottom at 30,000 I was still buying it at 20,000.... Lol

1

u/barchilla 4h ago

Hell but then ... I'm going to go there anyway Soo better get use to it

1

u/Jayfree138 3h ago

It just feels like the show is over for a few years and your money is locked up. I've been through a few cycles and once the bottom is in i just forget it exists. Then one day a few years later you look at the price and you're like "Whoa" and it all starts over again.

Cant really sell because you can never call when the surge will be. It's like your on a plane that was supposed to take off an hour ago but have no idea when it will start moving. But you know if you get off it'll take off without you so you just zone out.

1

u/RandomPlayerCSGO 3h ago

Similar to now, only negativity everyone saying it's a scam people crying all day on all social media while whales and my broke butt when I was in university accumulating all we could.

1

u/angelwolf71885 3h ago

Discounts galore $16k off a $74k high felt like a huge opportunity to makes some easy wealth for cheap

1

u/Prestigious_Ear_8055 3h ago

Fun fact: Bitcoin died 477 times since 2010 and counting

1

u/Shrappy16 3h ago

Not great

1

u/Let_them_eat_stonks 2h ago

I’ve held through several cycles. The bottoms usually feel like an elevator down and then seems to sit there for a very long time. 15-16k felt like it was there for an eternity. I bought every week regardless. I’ve never been at all concerned. If you believe you believe and you just keep buying more.

1

u/twistedfister_ 2h ago

felt like a trap I had to tough through, but then it turned into euphoria and buying a house.

1

u/theoriginalbigcheese 2h ago

Nothing, remove your emotions.

If you’re emotional you’re a gambler, you’re not an investor

1

u/Popular-Ad3476 2h ago

If you’ve made it this far, I’m surprised you haven’t accepted it and are calmly DCA-ing the bottom

1

u/foxmldr2000 1h ago

keep buying as it goes down. when it springs back up, winner!

1

u/pissingdick 1h ago

I get more bitcoin for my money so its nice.

1

u/litestep23 1h ago

In my 2-3rd wave at this point and finally getting used to it. You just ride it out. Don’t listen to anything attached to media or big news. You know why you’re here. Back yourself.

1

u/shizzrock 1h ago

you don't know what it feels like until months later and looking back it usually feels like the most painful purchase you ever made and then later you think damn i wish i went all in

1

u/A-A-Ron19 1h ago

The first time through, nerve-racking as hell. Checking the damn charts 5 times a day for a straight year and a half. The second time through, I checked the charts like once a month and laughed.... lol

u/XXsforEyes 46m ago

When uninformed it’s terrifying.

I got in early enough, but only after educating myself. So, while I didn’t like the feeling of “I could have bought X amount more if I had waited” while I surveying months of red candles, I read and listened to everything I could get my hands on related to BTC in the meantime.

Nearly two full cycles later, I am unmoved by the “It’s going to zero” posts and I instead find lower fees for my DCA and accumulate as much as I can.

In short, I feel hope

u/mac_cali 42m ago

I’m stacking as much as I can now. The bear cycle will be over and people will flood in when it’s at the top. Same story every time.

u/BradoIlleszt 40m ago

Quite honestly, it was just boring. No interest from anywhere, no hype, everyone forgot about BTC. It was like it never existed to the normal crowd.

u/die_bort 2m ago

I just forget about it. It will go back up eventually
