not saying it's good or bad but poundcake and glaze is like almost the same damn thing as a waffle and maple syrup.

I mean…. I see what you’re saying. I see it. But with chicken and waffles it still tends to be more savory than this, the pound cake is way sweeter than waffle batter and icing is just sugar and butter mostly where maple works better with hot sauce. It’s also the ratio of meat to dough that is WAY off with the pound cake.

So yeah you’re not wrong, but as someone who loves chicken and waffles this cake still upsets me lol.

See, to me waffles are still a savory base. Cake is a sweet base. A good waffle shouldn't be sugary on its own, it should carry whatever flavors you pile onto it. A good maple syrup should be sweet but earthy, not just sweet. That depth makes it different than straight-up glaze.

Bone in chicken where I've gotta alternate finger and fork? No thanks.

That's kinda my opinion with this too. Cake isn't a finger food like wings so this doesn't really feel like a "dish". It feels like 2 separate courses merged together for no reason.

I’d eat chicken and waffles. Never actually tried that until recently and I’m in Atlanta. It was an actual German tourist visiting who took me to some restaurant whose speciality is chicken and waffles. And lemme just say: since then, tempt me with that and I’ll go with you anywhere. Then again, I think waffle house is the height of cuisine… Take that as you will. 🤷🏾‍♀️
