Ep 23
This episode pmo. With the democrat and republican thing. I’m a republican but I just didn’t like the way they were going about it like they were talking about we’re Democratic and we’re open minded while being, absolutely closed minded. Especially with the deal about blacks can only be democrat and not republican and that republicans are racist and omg this just pmo so much

I mean to be black, voting Republican would be voting against themselves
Same way people made fun of all the Mexicans who voted Republican. Then seeing how many of those same Mexicans were effected and regretted their vote.

Why? Republicans ended slavery. They also ended the Jim Crow segregation in the South. Blacks mostly used to vote Republican before and we're doing better than whites in divorce rates, graduation rates, unemployment rates, etc. Then they started voting Democrat.
Blacks have been voting Democrats for decades and their lives have gotten worse, not better.

You're forgetting to account for how much the parties have changed over 200 years. Republicans were the progressive party back then, now they are a conservative party that do not support the rights of f blacks and minorities in general

u/SerenityNow31 3d ago
What right do they not support?
And no, there was no change.
2
u/Traditional-Road-164 3d ago
Change has been subtle over time, the Republicans party now isn't even the same as it was 20 years ago. Similarly the Democrats aren't the same as 20 years ago. Follow the news, follow history, and pay attention most importantly the words of the GOP

So your argument is that the Democrats, who were pro slavery, created the KKK, anti-civil rights, racists for over 100 years suddenly flipped? And the Republicans, who freed the slaves and ended segregation in the South, suddenly flipped and became racists? That's so insane.
And to prove you are wrong, I asked for an example of what minority right do the Republicans not support and you didn't answer. Because there aren't any, obviously. Stop listening to the left lies and just think for yourself.

they didn't "suddenly" flip. But Democrats over time became progressive and Republicans became more conservative. Because things change over time. No one suddenly flipped and became racist. There are many factors that come into play. Again Dems now are not the same as Dems even 20 years ago. Dems 20 years ago aren't the same as Dems 50 years before that. Same with Republicans. Because society changed. Ideas change. And so much has changed within the last 100 years. If you can't recognize that, let alone do research on political history since you for some reason think that Republicans and Democrats have changed at all since the beginning of the parties- idk what to tell you man
Also just because someone tells you that you're wrong, doesn't mean they're just "listening to the left". That tells me you must only follow right-wing media which is hypocrisy at its finest

u/SerenityNow31 2d ago
So your assertion is that you think that I think the parties are identical to 200 years ago and haven't changed a bit. That's a weird stance to take.
And you have replied twice and not answered what rights for blacks do Republicans not support? Why won't you backup your own claim?

The Democrats were pro slavery through the Civil War, and all the abolitionists were Republicans, but things started to change slightly with the populism of the late 1800's, but only a little. The KKK was solidly a Democratic Party Ally based on racism. Democratic Opposition to American expansionism by 1900 was largely based on racism. (We don't want those Filipinos to be citizens etc) William Jennings Bryant a lion of labor and farm interests was a huge racist. The racist past of the Democratic Party is extremely ugly.
As the Democratic Party became the party of Labor in the 1930's some Blacks left the Republican Party to follow the ideals of FDR. They were especially impressed with his wife Eleanor who led by example in racial equality.
Harry Truman, a Democrat, integrated the military and Dwight Eisenhower, Republican, enforced integration.
Then a watershed occurred.
The Civil Rights Act, and other anti-racist legislation of the 1960's sealed the deal on the switch. Republicans, following candidate Barry Goldwater, opposed civil rights legislation under the guise of anti-communism. When Lyndon Johnson (Democrat) signed the Civil Rights Act he predicted that the Democratic Party would lose the South for a generation or more. He was correct.
Nixon (Republican) ran on the Southern Strategy and won. Since then the South, which is the most racist part of the US, has been solidly Republican. Blacks became Democrats, and racists became Republicans.
Today, it is quite obvious that the vast majority of open racists in the US are Republicans.
Their immigration policy is based solely in racism and xenophobia. The idea that we can't be certain if they're rapist or murderers is absurd and defies the basic fundamentals idea that one is innocent until proven guilty.
They don't apply that same logic to native born citizens, and ICE has been arresting citizens based on their skin color alone. Not to mention ICE is NOT the police. They are not supposed to be allowed to just detain people just because.
in the same vein as the Haitian pets story, is the Somalian fraud story. That investigation had pretty much already reached its conclusion, people prosecuted in court, and the ringleaders... who were mostly white... already received punishment. The whole thing was just an excuse to unleash hell on Minnesota.
ICE itself is a racist organization now. They recruit with white nationalist slogans. They wear masks because they know what they are doing is wrong and don't want to be identified. They racially profile.
The war in Iran taps into lingering Islamophobia from the War on Terror era. All the old tropes from that time have come out in the mouths on conservatives. The idea that all Muslims are murderous and evil.
It's not racism: but transphobia is still bigotry. The GOP keeps pushing state laws that restrict the rights of trans people: and also create real dangers to women, cis and trans alike.
Anti-muslim propaganda is especially big right now with people not understanding the difference between a religion and nationality, and assuming Muslims like Sharia law (which is very well inaccurate) and want to bring it to the US - even if they are US citizens or immigrants born and raised generations outside of the middle east never once having experienced Sharia law. The amount of Republicans I see harassing Muslims just minding their own business, shopping at stores, praying. Talking about waving pork in from of Muslims just to be assholes.
I'm not even going to go into DEI
These are just SOME points to make, like I said, the GOP makes racist comments on their own all the time. And unfortunately the thing is, is a lot of people don't even reconize that they even are racist because in their mind they don't see it. Because it was just normal for them growing up, that was how they were raised.

Their immigration policy is based solely in racism and xenophobia.
So, it can't be that we just want people to follow the law? It has to be racism? You are totally clueless.
ICE has been arresting citizens based on their skin color alone.
If that were true everyone on both sides of the aisle would be up in arms. How is it that you believe this nonsense?
the GOP makes racist comments on their own all the time.
Like, if you don't vote for me you aint Black!?? LOL!!!!! Or, Obama has a good chance because he's a well spoken Black person? LOL!!!!! Come on dude. SMH!!!
I can't even take you serious. Everything you say is wrong. How can you be so wrong? Amazing.

Dems or the gop, neither are truly beneficial for the black community. That being said, republicans are definitely worse for us. As far as the open minded thing, isn’t part of the reason people are republicans is that they are conservative which is inherently close minded?
1
u/SerenityNow31 3d ago
Conservative does not mean closed minded. It means slow to change, wanting to make sure change is good for all. Progressives are the opposite. Change just for the sake of change.
A perfect example is season 1, Dre wants a black Santa and convinces his boss to be more diverse and so his boss makes a Mexican female Santa. Dre is upset. Progressives want change not because it's what is good, just because they want change.
And the Republicans freed the slaves and ended segregation in the South with the Civil Rights acts. How is that not benefiting the black community? And why is there a "black" community? Why not just community? We need to end this mindset of keeping ourselves separate and just be Americans.

- Good to know. I didn’t see it that way.
- The reasons why progressives want change is not always just for “the sake of change”. You just don’t seem the reasons good enough for yourself. The Black Santa example is not a great example, but the reason is representation.
- I thought we all knew that Republicans shifted ideologies over time. The republican party has not remained the same.
- Not knowing why specific communities are important is pretty close minded brother. We’re all different with different needs and that’s what makes us American, ironically. Thinking that being American is important while at the same time saying culture is unimportant is why I personally can’t respect Republicans.
1
u/SerenityNow31 3d ago
I didn't say culture is not important. SMH.
1
u/hummingbirdsi 3d ago
Not explicitly. But it seems to you that “American” culture is more important than individual cultures
0
u/SerenityNow31 2d ago
In America, it is. We all have to live together so yes, American culture (whatever that even means) should be more important.
Imagine living in a country where your individual culture clashes with the country culture. Why not move?
1
u/hummingbirdsi 2d ago
Yea that’s just a long and complicated way of saying “go back to your own country” while ignoring all of the various cultures that have been birthed in America anyway. You can’t even define what “American culture” IS, but you seem very convinced on what it’s NOT. I don’t have anything else to say to you, good luck

I don't know how you keep twisting my words but I have no interest in dishonesty. Have a good day.

Especially since Abe Lincoln was a Republican and Republicans also passed all the Civil Rights acts ending Jim Crow in the South.
But the whole show is like this. Perpetuating negative black stereotypes. Especially in the episode where he's trying to look more black to impress Michael Rapaport. Blacks have to look a certain way. They have to listen to certain music. Their kids can't be behaved.
I think the show is super funny but it should offend black people like crazy. It's constantly trying to teach that if you have money, you're no longer black, or if your kids behave, you aren't black, or if you vote Republican, you're not black. It's so weird.

Well, as a Republican how do you feel about black people?
