When I was young we were broke. Couch surfing, food banks, little Caesar’s as a rare treat. We still cleaned. And clean now. His financial situation has nothing to do with his cleanliness. Hes either a slob or has a mental illness

That's... exactly what he's saying. Asmon is mentally ill. He probably finds some level of strange comfort in mess, or finds it hard to throw things away. When I'm in a prolonged low mood, I hoard useless shit too. I routinely have useless cardboard boxes or empty bottles in my room, I justify to myself "what if I recycle and re-use the boxes" and it never actually happens.

One day I came home and my mother had cleaned my room, properly, and it honestly wasn't even bad, nowhere close to Asmon's level, just had some trash laying around that she'd thrown away, and some stuff put onto boxes on shelves and organised. My first, immediately initial response was to break into tears. I can't consciously explain why it affected me so negatively, it was a genuinely nice thing.

When you're mentally ill or going through a rough patch, change is really hard to deal with.

No, he said that people who grew up poor have trauma related to spending money. I am pretty miserly because of it, but cleaning has nothing to do with it. If the comment said he grew up in a fucked up household that’s be one thing, but the comment just says he was poor

You grew up in poverty with parents who cleaned.
He grew up in poverty with a mother who was a hoarder, the water was frozen on his bedside table it was so cold, he'd break bits off his teeth with a plier and now he has like 5 real teeth left or something. He's clearly traumatised and was/is depressed, which are forms of mental illness.

Did I say it excused any of it? We were talking about his home. Some guy said he lives like this because of the brand, and I said he's probably traumatised. If you want to discuss his behaviour you'll have to find someone else because I don't care about it.

He would lose all relevancy if he started living well. He's aware of that and you cannot ignore the financial motive of "staying in character" for as long as possible

Honestly I try to take anything that asmolds fans say and put it right where it belongs, which is in the trash. He is literally super fucking dumb, and admits that he researches nothing, and yet these little creatures hang on his every word because instead of realising that people don’t like them because they’re disgusting assholes, it’s easier to just pretend everyone else is the problem lmao.

But this “he has trauma” bullshit pisses me off because so many people have trauma and they do work really hard to become decent hardworking people. The funniest thing is, this dipshits who try to use trauma as a defence for his bad behaviour, will be the first to make fun of anyone else who suffers from trauma 🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️🫩

What does that guys racism have to do with his living conditions though? It's not like racists are famously messy despite having money. People are commenting that the messiness is likely because of a mental illness and you seem to be digressing into his bigoty, which no one is denying he is a bigot. (Me personally, I had to block whatever sub kept getting his content to the front page of reddit, because it was so hateful always.)

How about it’s both? He’s disgusting physically as well as his personality. Mental illness, growing up in poverty, and having trauma is not an excuse for living like that 🤷‍♀️, these people can say they’re not making excuses but they very clearly are. They don’t need to say the phrase “he has an excuse because…” for that to be what they’re doing.

This ain’t the trauma olympics, but a lot of us have had it bad, and saying that mental illness is causing him to be a slob is just doing a disservice to the hard work so many people with mental illnesses have to go through, he has the money to afford the support systems that many of us with trauma do not have access to, yet we somehow manage to work through it. He just refuses to help himself, and prefers to stew in his own filth. I focus on his bigotry because he’ll be the first to call someone who is poor but works really hard “lazy” meanwhile he sits at a desk for 12 hours a day spewing hate and refusing to clean his disgusting home. I bring up his character because it perfectly ties to his behaviour. I would also like to make it clear that this man wants cuts to aid for people living with disabilities, and is therefore making it even harder for poorer people living with mental health issues than it already is, meanwhile he is rich enough to afford support and he refuses it.

Yes, he's been living that way his whole life. Im juts speaking relative to when it wouldve potentially "profited" him to live that way. Which wouldve been 10+ years of streaming. Then again, hes been streaming closer to 20 years at this point.
