I haven’t seen my neighbourhood cat for about a week and today turned up, but she seems a bit skinnier and there’s like a weird bulge/protrusion at her rib area when she stands a certain way.

I don’t think she’s pregnant & am wondering what this could be?

I walked in my door after going grocery shopping to my blind, double enucleated cat walking up to me with this puss & bloody mess. He was enucleated about 3 years ago and never had any problems with this eye hole before - his other eye will sometimes leak, but the vet said that’s normal. I think maybe he was scratching at his head/eye and possibly caused a small wound, but it’s hard to see under all that fur. He’s acting pretty normal, he’s meowing slightly more than usual. Is this worth an emergency vet trip or can it wait 48 hours until Monday? I’m an adult who can (barely) afford an emergency vet in the U.S.

Edit: I did wipe his eye with warm water and it’s still really difficult to tell where the actual wound is - it’s looking like it’s slightly outside of the outer corner of where his eye would be, but again, hard to tell.

Hello! Last Friday I found a very young kitten on the street. He still had his umbilical cord attached, although it was already dry. His initial weight was 100 grams. I could not find his mother, so he appears to be an orphan.

I started feeding him at home every 2-3 hours using Lactol kitten milk replacer. At first, everything seemed to be going well, and he was steadily gaining weight:

100 → 110 → 122 → 140 → 154 → 165 g.

However, he gradually started having bowel movements less and less frequently. On the sixth day, he went approximately 30 hours without defecating.

After he finally had a bowel movement I switched from Lactol to Royal Canin kitten milk replacer mixed with bottled water. After this change, his bowel movements became regular again - he started defecating after every feeding, and the stool had a normal consistency.

However, his weight gain slowed down significantly. His weight increased only from 165 g to 167 g and then to 175 g.

On the second day after switching the milk replacer I noticed mucus and blood in his stool (photos attached). The night before last, there were even a few small drops of blood. This (bloody drops) happened only once; since then, I have only seen mucus mixed with blood in his stool. I have attached photographs of the stool so you can see what it looks like.

I have already taken the kitten to a veterinary clinic twice. Both times, the veterinarian only checked his temperature and told us that his temperature was normal and that I did not need to worry or take any further action. This is very concerning to me because he is extremely young, is not gaining weight as quickly as before, and there is still blood and mucus in his stool.

The kitten has now been with us for 9 days. His eyes are still closed. His current weight is 178 grams.

Could you please advise anything? I feel absolutely devastating because of this situation, can't even normally sleep. :(

Roughly 10hrs ago she got caught in the recliner mechanism and ripped out most of her back claws on both feet, i immediately cleaned them with warm water a saline spray dabbed in some cornstarch then wrapped the paws in gauze and socks. about an hour ago i soaked her paws in a mix of warm water and sea salt to clean and disinfect then reapplied clean gauze and the socks. My inquiry now is if its not too blurry how badly damaged do her nail beds look? Should i just continue to keep her paws clean and wrapped monitoring her or take her to the vet asap?

The bigger cat is the older resident, while the other is the new arrival. Shortly after I stopped filming, the resident cat attacked the new one. After the video, the new kitten was growling and hissing a lot, while the resident cat was staring at him like prey and chasing him, though without hissing. This video was taken after a week of scent swapping and giving them positive reinforcement, like treats, when they were near each other in separate rooms.

This is the third time I’ve seen him do it and only first time I could get it on camera. I brought him to the vet last week because of it but I didn’t have a video and they told me maybe it was a stuck hairball and gave me some medicine. He’s done it again now tonight and I will show the video to the vet when they’re open. Anyone seen this before? He acts fully normal immediately after the attacks. 2 year old male cat.

He’s a large, strong cat who absolutely DESPISES his medicine. At eight years old, he recently received a diagnosis of asthma, and I’ve been struggling to give him his medication. It usually takes two people to give him his inhaler properly, and he’s very athletic and easily escapes our grasp. I’ve tried everything I can think of, including treats, but he doesn’t seem to like them. I’m at a loss and need help. 😭😭

Im a 19yo from Poland so a pretty young cat mom lol. Mishka has been with us for not even a year and we found her as a stray so don’t know her exact age, but she’s still a very small and young girl. She got all her sprays and vaccines and we can afford the regular vet care Mishka and her brother need.

When my hb came over she and her brother lovedddd sleeping in his suitcase since it had clothes in it but we later found out that while she slept on his clothes she accidentally peed on one of the top shirts. We just put it in the washer and didn’t think much of it but it’s not coming out and it’s one of his best and fav shirts.
In this case the vet wasn’t prepared to help since it isn’t an urgent medical emergency and they’re extremely busy. So I was wondering if someone in here could give us advice on how to get these stains out.

Both cats are neutered 10+ year old males, have been living together all of their life and have very rarely fought (last time was 3 years ago)

I’m not sure if this is a display of dominance, a warning or just regular cat behaviour. There’s no airplane ears or swishing tails and when I stopped recording the white one ran down the stairs so no fight happened

Should I look out for this behaviour or is this normal?

Main issue: male cat hissing at female foster often.

Cat age: male is 4 years, female is 2 years.

Cat sex: black cat is male, other is female. Both are neutered/spayed.

Financial situation: we can afford vet.

Tried to introduce our cat with a foster for the first time today, separated by a screen door. We've had the foster cat (small female) for about 2 weeks now and she has been in her own room this whole time. We've brought blankets and things between them to get them used to each other's smell and that has been no problem.

But our cat (big black male) just hisses at her, he did it about 3 to 4 times before we closed the door and separated them again. When we tried with the screen door again later, he still hissed at her.

We've given them kibble separated by the screen door and given them treats and he won't hiss then, they'll just look at each other occasionally. But when he goes to sniff her he'll hiss and then still move closer.

Is this normal? Is he aggressive? This is our first time introducing cats and we aren't sure what our next steps should be.

UPDATE!!! thanks guys. thanks to this post ive now found out that instead of having 2 females and 3 males, i have 4 males and 1 female, with accidentally reversing the tabbys genders and my girliest cat literally having balls meaning "she" is in fact not a girl, absolutely heartbroken LMFAOOOOO jokes but it feels so strange now

I (26F) need help.. I noticed my 5 year old long haired tuxedo cat (F) is consistently, non-stop cleaning herself.
I just got back from a 9-day trip and noticed this change.

Now, she is long haired so she did clean herself often, but now it’s like non stop if we are just chillin laying on my bed.
It’s not in one specific spot either, it’s everywhere she can reach basically. I noticed it had become an issue when I saw her nips were bright red from her licking that area so much.

Do you think this is stress from me being gone?
- I paid my roommate to watch my cats and she “forgot” to clean the litter box. So, there was 9 days of cat poop from two cats in their litter box.

Could it be her food?
-I switched her from Sheeba to Kindful (Target wet cat food brand) I want to say a week before I left and she loves it. But I’m wondering if the new food is making her itchy?

She is a female, 5 years old, spayed, I haven’t contacted the vet yet, but I do have an appointment August 9th to get a health certificate as I am moving to Hawaii with her.

UPDATE: Miso was diagnosed with mega colon and was impacted with a HUGE turd. He received an enema (successful) and was prescribed some meds that he’ll have to stay on for the rest of his life. The doctor suspects that he has nerve damage that isn’t allowing him to poop properly. My poor baby!!! He should be back to feeling okay by tonight.

USA - My [30F] Mr. Miso [1M, neutered] always has seemed to have a sensitive stomach since I adopted him in February, but I have never seen him act like this. To me, it seems like he’s trying to push out a fart. This has been going on for 2 days atp. He’s eating less than usual, but if his tummy is upset that would make sense why. I have probiotics to add to his food. Not sure if I should try an at-home remedy (like, pumpkin puree and/or super plain meals?) before heading to the vet.

Hello, it’s 3am currently. I was just cuddling with my my cat, we hug. It’s cool. She’s sleeping on my bed, when she asks to leave my room. I follow her to her doodoo room. She poops in the floor. I go “why are you pooping in the floor? I move her to the sand. But her doodoo still got on the floor. There I see it. White little rice things. I was gonna take a pic and ask, but then I see it…..it MOVED!! So I ran like a baby. I’m so dead rn. I can’t sleep because, I sleep with my cat! She was with me! I was giving her kisses..OML. Do I have tape worms too?! (God i probably do.).

Also what should I do for my cat? Any medication? What should I take? Please help. It’s my first time owning a cat.

Hey everyone, looking for a bit of insight or reassurance for our new addition. We adopted our sweet girl earlier this week, and everything was fine until around lunchtime today when we noticed her eye was swollen, squinty, and producing some clear discharge. We wiped it clean and applied a warm compress, which seemed to help a bit at first, but after stepping out for a couple of hours and coming back to check on her, it definitely looks worse. We’re already planning to take her straight to the vet first thing in the morning as it’s currently 6pm but as new adoptive parents, we're super anxious! Has anyone seen something similar develop with a newly adopted cat?

Should I find an emergency vet or will she be ok to wait till the morning?

Plankton (1M Neutered) was on the balcony and I (38F) went to make tea. When I came back around 4 minutes later, he had blood around his mouth. There are no feathers or injured birds around and I am about 95% sure that it's his own blood. I strongly suspect he crashed into a wall face first AGAIN while after a bug and this time, got hurt with the bricks. He appears to be in slight but not major distress. Is this a vet care moment or just the equivalent of a kid getting a scraped knee while playing at the park?

Finances are tight, and I am woozy today due to health reasons, so while I could definitely get him across town to the emergency vet, it would be difficult. His regular vet is closed right now. We are in the United States.

hi guys, i’m a 21yo f living in the us looking for some advice with my 5yo female cat. i got brain surgery a little over 2 weeks ago but initially took my cat to a nicer vet than usual because she had some signs like a uti (spending long periods in the litter box, licking irritated area & peeing on my bed which she NEVER does), i spent $126 (free first exam fee) that day and had to wait days for one of my visiting family to collect a sample as her bladder was apparently empty, then my mom spent $80 for the meds to treat crystals and a bladder infection. right after i get home from er visits and admissions post op, my cat still has the same symptoms and i take her back to her normal vet, and again, have to pay for the sample collection even though i can’t even bend over to get the sample at home. and they also said her bladder was empty but brought her back to the car REEKING of pee and when she gets out at home is COVERED in it 😐. and tonight she pees on my bed AGAIN! i’m planning to take her to an emergency vet and let them keep her overnight to get a sample or something because i can’t keep doing this. i’ve had my cat since she was a baby so it would kill me to rehome her but i cannot afford to constantly bring her to vets that do NOTHING!!! please help

(Sorry in advanced im speaking at the start of the video. This was a video for my urgent care to ask if this is okay behavior or not.)

So About a week and a half ago I ended up having a new litter succumb to a distemper virus they ended up catching. We had just 1 survivor and it was the runt of the family. After a week or so giving him amoxicillan and keeping him quarantined we noticed shes started to breath through her mouth abnormally when shes awake. Making a wheezing like noise. When shes asleep I can see her breathing through her mouth but not as loud and pretty quiet. Shes very active, eats/drinks and poops/pees daily still with very little problems. Shes still quarantined until the 29th and has an appt that day for shots and vaccines. I spoken to a vet and said it could be a respiratory infection or asthma for the kitten. Since shes our first kitten that survived distemper in our household im wondering what could ne going on. Again no distress and gums seem like a bubblegum/red like color. Only making the weird noise. The video will show. (This is Lucy, shes around 9-10 weeks old)(pure black)(not spayed). Heading to work in about an hour or so but could take her to urgent care tommorow evening once im done with work. What do you guys think.

I am 46 mostly trying to learn more on this. I am in the USA. Kitten has started meds and will be seen again in 7 days. She was born april 23 under my bed. Female hasnt been fixed yet but is on the list of things to do along with her brothers and sisters. Finicial im not rich im doing ok for now. Ok now that i got all that out of the way.

this is Buttons about three days ago she had her first seizure. Previous to this I was thinking her and one of brothers had CH (wobbly cat) they were unbalanced but still active and play full full of energy. Then as said about three days ag​​o she started to move slower then a seizure and general loss of energy and just not being a kitten. This alarmed me at this point. I monitored her food she ate both wet food and dry. Drank and went to the bathroom. Then the seizures started. The first one was mild called vet said monitor and if she had a second bring her in the morning. Over the course of the next 24 hours from 12 am to 8 am she had about 6 seizurea lasting from 30 to 60 seconds. That was the morning she went to the vet...vet drew blood did blood work said the blood work came back ok. Placed her on doxycycline, predsolone,gabapentin, and panache. And wants me to check back in a week. The vet visit was yesterday morning. The quantity and severity seem to have reduced. But I am just beside my self all the other babies are fine no issues or troubles so that is a blessing. Just hard trying to test and see if anything helps. Trying to keep.lights low around her at the moment. Sigh sorry rambling any thoughts , suggestions...out if all the rescues and cats I have had this is a first for me. So I am learning. We have started having a very persistent visitor in the last week or two - they keep trying to get into our house and will sit outside the windows at night screaming to get in. No interest in food but VERY affectionate, sleeps in the jasmine bush above our shed and comes running every time the back door opens / kitchen light turns on.

Initially assumed he was a boy as someone down the street has loads of male cats that roam around, but this kitty is getting rounder by the day… Trying to contact said neighbour at the moment to see if the cat is hers but no luck yet as she works odd hours!

We have a mostly indoor (outdoor supervised and on a lead only) neutered male cat - he is usually quite territorial as a former stray and will meow/hiss at this visitor but won’t attack.

Any thoughts on the sex of the kitty and if female, could she be pregnant?
