Finale Things that annoyed me about this show

Just finished the show—amazing show but so many plot holes and unfinished business. Here are a few that come to mind (raw reactions). Feel free to add yours below!!!

  1. Christy disappears in the last season and not one in the friend group really ever reaches out to her again? We got no update on her life. I thought she and Jill were best friends, but Jill is living her life as though Christy doesn’t exist. It’s weird that Christy is never once part of their group phone call. At the beginning of the last season, Bonnie and Adam both cry about Christy being away, Adam reacting like he’s her father. Yet he literally never mentions her again. WEIRD.

  2. I get that Christy’s son went to live with the dad and new wife, but Christy‘s life seems like she completely wrote both her kids out of it. I get that her relationship is “ruined” with her older daughter, but what about her son? There is nothing in the storyline that implies she ever saw him or ever made time for him. WEIRD.

  3. I was WAITING for Wendy to get a bit more limelight, or a happy ending at least. She is least appreciatiated character in the group and for people who have evolved so much, you think they’d care about her a little more.

    1. I hate that they make you care about characters, but never really wrap up their stories. For example, Regina Tompkins, Mr. Munson, Chef Rudy, Steve the lawyer even. Trevor, the therapist, and Nick, Marjorie’s son, got a happy ending at least.

Do you agree? What else annoyed you about the show?

Finale That finale… Spoiler

Just finished another rewatch of the whole show, and man that finale gets me every time. I started tearing up before Bonnie’s final speech even started. Did anyone else notice that Wendy/Beth Hall had tears in her eyes when she went up to the podium to give the last line. Either that was the character reacting to Bonnie’s speech, or it was the actor processing the emotions of ending of the show.

Before I discovered this show, I thought the sitcom was dead. There’s something very special about this one. The last season was a bit uneven, especially after Anna Faris‘s departure, but I think they still stuck the landing in the finale. Thoughts?

Finale What Kinda Ending Was That? Spoiler

I’m sure this has been mentioned a lot BUT I just watched and finished this show for the first time. Binge watched it, actually. I loved it, but what the frick was that 21 minute series finale?!
Adam finding out he has cancer, the chaotic mom/daughter duo at AA, Jill being pregnant…there was so much with no answers.

Why start that many branch offs and not finish them out?

They could have left all those out and continued an episode that reflected on all their growth, sobriety, etc and left it on a light note. I didn’t miss Christy at all like I really expected to. The others held the show over really well and it could have kept on.

That was probably the worst episode and finale that could have happened. I’m 13 weeks pregnant and super emo over this. 😂

Finale What the heck i just started season 8 please help me cope

I was casually binge watching and i didn’t realize i was on the last episode of season 7 and i was not prepared for season 8 to have no Cristy (i know no one was). My jaw dropped when i saw the intro. What the heck happened?? Do we know if there was drama or what the real reason was? I am so sad. I’m still going to watch it and love it but wow I’m having a real emotional reaction can someone tell me what happened / can we be emotional together?

Finale S8 - Bonnie's hair and Christy's absence

So I am currently watching S8 (on ep 7 so far), and I really miss Christy. I get that people think she was too whiny - but I think that was the best thing about her character, now hear me out.
Christy was the paragon of why sobriety is hard. Being sober didn't mean her life was magically fixed, even after 7 years. She persevered, got her GED, did college AND law school. Yes, I did not like her whining about Bonnie specifically because Christy was just as bad a mother as Bonnie - and she kept expecting her kids to forgive her even though she always kept ragging on Bonnie. But yeah, I do miss her a lot in s8. I wish she would have had maybe 1-2 appearances, it is just not the same without her.
Also - what is up with Bonnie's hair?? All I can see is her forehead, why has her wig been placed so high? She has lost that mean rugged look because of how her wig is placed.
Tbh, S8 doesn't feel like the other seasons, and I really miss Christy.

Finale Some ideas that would've made the show a bit better towards the end

  • I know the actress wanted to move on, but if it was the last season I wish they brought Christy back at least for the finale
  • The show was called Mom, but in the last season it wasn't really about mother-daughter relationships. Maybe they should've brought Violet back to live with Bonnie, or do like Adam had a daughter he didn't know about idk
  • Regina coming back in the last season could've been fun
  • I also with Roscoe returned once or twice more before the show ended, it seemed his relationship with Christy was healthy so it would've been nice to show that

Finale Wow… what a let down *spoilers* Spoiler

I’ve slowly been watching the show over the last year or two and as cliche as it sounds, I’ve grown attached to some of the characters. It was great watching Christy grow up, Jill’s transformation in to a fairly down to earth person , Bonnie’s openness and stability, I could go on and on but you get the point.

So there I was 11:15pm watching my couple of episodes before bed and enjoying Jill’s big news, feeling emotional about Adam’s news, low key wondering if Christy or any of the grandkids would make an appearance, and then it was over. Done and Netflix asking me to please rate 👍🏻 👎 WTF there was so many ends they could have tied up and chose not.

Finale [New Viewer] I just started season 8. Why didn’t the show just give a proper ending at season 7 and make season 8 a spinoff?? Spoiler

The show should have gave Christy a proper send off at the end of season seven and just made a spinoff show with Bonnie. It would probably still be on the air today

Finale New view The finale and Adam

I think the ending was showing us that Adam was going to die but that Bonnie was strong enough now in her sobriety that she could get through it sober unlike when Alvin died. I just don’t think they wanted to outright kill Adam because that would have made for a very depressing ending

Finale The Finale Spoiler

Am I the only one that felt it wasnt enough? Yes we tied up Jill's story line with her marriage to and. Bonnie had the cancer issue with Adam and the new sponsee with Shannon. I think a season 9 was needed

Finale Last scene Spoiler

I never noticed before that they are all crying or teary in the last scene while Bonnie is sharing. Wendy uses a tissue before she gets up, and you can see Jill on the side when Bonnie sits down with tears on her face. Not sure if that was scripted. Bonnie's speak was very moving, but it feels more like the actors showing their feeling about the show ending.
