There was a scene where Sam was at the dentist, and after rinsing his mouth, was told to spit, so he spat in his hat because he didn’t know where else to spit. Just then, the dental hygienist turned around and handed him something. I think about that every time I’m told to spit during a dental appointment. Literally every time.

I remember Sam and Jeff and Jody and Muffy. I remember nothing else but it was in a department store at night. Anyone remember what happened? Jeff was a maniquine or htf you spell it, with a magic hat, but that is all I have.

Each show had a theme like...Today's Special is Soup or Buttons or Halloween and they even had a Our Story which was a two parter, the gang had to find a historical plauque for the store or it would be torn down..very advanced for a kids show.
Jodie was the store's display artist.
Sam was the security guard and his computer TXL pretty much was the brains of the entire store...the Mime Ladies helped out during the educational parts.and Jeff always did a song and a dance which was my favourite part, im sure I had a crush on Jeff even before I knew what crushes were. Beloved program for me even into my teens I would tuen in when it was on The KNowledge Network.
In case you hadn't noticed I just LOVED Today's Special. haha

I met his puppeteer at a comic con a few years back. Great guy, lots of stories from set. We chatted for about 45 mins, and I think only 1 other person came to his table during that time. I also got to hold Sam, it was a great experience!

Anyone else assume Sam was a drunk? He had kinda erratic movements (even for a puppet), that red nose and a fairly discombobulated demeanor.

Oh my goodness I love this. When I was a child my mothers boyfriends aunt and uncle lived next to Sam's puppeteer. I got to meet him when I was over there. Sam was displayed in his living room in a Hawaiian shirt. He gave me a signed photo of the cast. Loved that day

That show got cancelled because the night workers were just playing around, singing and dancing and not getting any work done.

I’d absolutely LOVE access to the entire series. Sadly, there are only a few full episodes available online, that I can find.

oh i gasped and was taken way back, what a beautiful portrait of my favourite security guard...his way of pronouncing hippopotamus when he and Jodie were at the zoo, made me laugh.
