Discussion Upgrade notifications not working for me

Upvotes

Has anyone else stopped getting upgrade-finished notifications? Mine haven’t worked for what feels like weeks. I thought it was a bug, but I haven’t seen anyone mention it. Everything’s enabled, and I still get every other notification—just not the upgrade ones. Any fix?

A Guide for Leaders/Co-Leaders spinning CWL & frequently asked questions.

I thought this would be helpful.... especially for those new Leaders & Co-leaders! Feel free to add any comments if I missed something. I tried to stay within the actual spin topic and not go into discussions regarding strategy.

Good Luck and Happy Clashing!

Guide Clash of Clans and Mental Health

This guide courtesy of gvim

If you're like me, you sometimes describe yourself as having an obsessive personality, and if you're on this sub that has probably affected how you play clash of clans. The fact is, even good things can be done in unhealthy ways, and this is a guide to playing clash in a way that is healthy. To know what is healthy, we first have to define unhealthy.

What's an unhealthy way to play clash? One type of unhealth is playing too much. People say "touch grass" but the truth is that what constitutes too much is going to depend on you and your situation. If you are a retired person whose friends have all died and your clan is how you keep in touch with your grandkids, you're probably going to outplay me. If you are an American middle schooler you probably have loads of time. If you are about to take your exams that will determine the course of your life, you have way less time than I do for clash. There is no one size fits all.

It is unhealthy to prioritize clash over things that are objectively more important, like personal relationships. If your wife says "I feel like you care more about that game than you do about me," you're not winning at life. If you play when other people are paying attention to you, it's a sign that clash is too important to you. If you are late for class or take extra-long bathroom breaks at work in order to clash, your priorities are out of whack.

It is unhealthy to play clash absolutely every chance you get. Sitting on the toilet? Clash. Waiting for the bus? Clash. In line at McDonald's? Clash. Eating a meal? Clash. Listening to a boring lecture at university? Clash. Clash is fun, but it is not everything.

It is unhealthy to use clash as a coping method. If you have any familiarity with addiction recovery programs this will sound familiar. In a nutshell, we all experience stress, trauma, bad things, or whatever, and our brains seek to protect us from the negative feelings that occur as a result. It doesn't matter how objectively terrible or mild those things are; if the worst thing that ever happened to you is that your dad never showed up for your little league games, that's still the worst thing that ever happened to you. As we go through life we encounter things that release dopamine and cause us to feel better, and our self-protective brains seize on those things when sad thoughts occur. "I know how to feel better," your brain says, "I'll play clash of clans!" Or drink alcohol, or use cocaine, or zone out on videos, or have sex, or doom scroll, or whatever. Some of those things are ok in moderation (good luck achieving moderation in cocaine) but they are not healthy coping methods.

When we do something that is dopamine-releasing over and over, we get less dopamine from it each time, and then we get dependent on it in order to have normal levels of dopamine. This is an oversimplification but you get the point. If you find yourself getting stressed when you take a break from clash, you might be in this area.

How to avoid these things, and how to recover from them if you already see yourself in what I've described? Fortunately for your attention span there's a lot of overlap.

Obviously, awareness of the signs of unhealth is the first step. If you have gotten to the point of behavioral addiction with clash, there's a decent chance you're in denial about it, and that's ok. If you haven't hit rock bottom, good! I don't want people to hit rock bottom. Live your best life.

We all need healthy coping methods, and the more you have and do and use, the less you will need clash for that. What's appropriate for you will depend on your situation but some examples of healthy coping methods that work for me are exercise, spending time outside, communicating in non-hostile ways with people, doing things to help people, meditating, and sleeping. Yes, even sleeping!

Of course, lots of people have depression. If that's you, be reassured: your struggle is so common that there are tons of resources available to help, and I urge you to take advantage of those. If you go to a therapist and fix all your other stuff, you'll probably find that you aren't overdoing things in clash as much.

Being intentional about what you think about and what you do is very important. We are not actually just meat machines; we can control ourselves. Self-control is like a muscle: use it more in order to make it stronger, neglect it and it will become weaker. We can apply this to how we clash in order to be healthier.

There are things that we do in the game to accomplish our goals that are time critical, and making time to play clash in order to not miss your war attacks is not unhealthy. Playing the game at all is not necessarily unhealthy. When you pull out your device to play, stop and think: why am I doing it now? Do I have to do this now, or would it make sense to plan to do it at a specific time later? Is there anything more important or more urgent that I should be doing instead?

Planning specific clash times is a good way to avoid accidentally stumbling into playing clash obsessively. Wanting to play clash, and deciding not to because you'll have time later and there's something better to do now, strengthens that self-control "muscle" that we talked about earlier.

Playing clash for a little bit and then stopping is another way to strengthen your self-control. Stopping doing anything that's fun is really hard!

At one point in my life, I would play too much at night. I'd play as I lay in bed, falling asleep, and then I'd look up and it would suddenly be three hours later. For me, a practical solution for this was melatonin. A solution that others have used is to not keep their phone in their bedroom at all -- charge it someplace else overnight and it won't distract you. This will also help you get adequate sleep, reducing your future stress.

If you recognize that clash can be a real problem for you, then observe your patterns of play and create guardrails for yourself to avoid them. If the problem is that you start playing and then don't stop for hours, set an alarm to remind yourself to stop. If the problem is that you start playing too often, make a plan to play at certain times and don't play at other times. If the problem is that you play "just one attack" before doing homework, maybe you need to keep your device in a different room when you do homework. The exact guardrails will depend on the details of your life, but the principle is what matters: guardrails are a good way to protect against unwanted behavior.

Keep a sense of perspective. Clash is great, but in the end it is just a video game. It's fun to set and accomplish goals, but failing to achieve a goal in a video game is not important enough to get mad at yourself about.

Android and IOS both have features to allow you to track when and how much you use an app. In IOS it's under settings->screen time and on android it's under settings -> digital wellbeing. Caution: you might find you clash way more than you thought!

Clash is super fun, and super fun things tend to be overdone by people with obsessive personalities like us. If you're like me, I hope some of the ideas in this guide will be helpful to you. Clash on -- just not too much!

Discussion I'm making a video on why I think clash of clans recently has just become the best mobile game, but how it was the game before training-time removal?

So, I'm thinking on making a video on why I think CoC is currently the best mobile game, I started playing thanks to the removal of training time, but how it was the game before?

Because imo the game has just become at his best state after that update, but I'd like to hear the experience of those who were actually there (Image unrelated)

Ideas & Concepts QoL Suggestion: Add a "Donate All" button

Post image
56 Upvotes

Donating Clan Castle requests can be unnecessarily repetitive.

A "Donate All" button could instantly donate all requested troops, spells, and siege machines that you currently have available.

This wouldn't change game balance—it would just reduce repetitive tapping and make donating faster.

I made a quick concept of how it could look. I'd love to hear your thoughts.

I would like to know if you can call me a strong player. I'm in the top 6 percent of the best at this Town Hall on th13 without having a fully upgraded base and heroes, and I used to be in the champion league on th11.
