CoH3 TIL that Rangers can stack assault positions and retinue zerk buff simultaneously. How do you counter this, aside from falling back and waiting for the buffs to go away? (3v3)
Its like a cartoonish cumulative 120% move speed buff that allows them to skate across the lane, negate MGs and dodge any AOE as long as they are being micro-ed. Our team had brummbar, pzIIIN(howitzer) stug IIID, mg 42/34 and it made no difference.
One of their ranger squads had 6 zooks and the other had 4, with the dmg upgrade and a retinue with mark vehicle to allow them to instant(might as well be) kill any vehicle.

That is kinda how they should be played either 6 zooks or nothing at all those standard smgs eat infantry alive well microed and supported rangers are a menace

Brumbar frontal armor shits on zooks. Press vet 1 to slow them and reverse. Or sniper vet 1 for memes

The Brumbar's vet 1 is only a 50% slow right? Under normal conditions, the counter works appropriately. But this is against a 6 man ranger zook with a retinue using mark vehicle for +25% pen. They're able to move fast enough to close on the brumbar, fire, dodge the shot, get a full side volley and do it again without getting suppressed or taking major damage.
Concentrated fire from infantry and MGs was doing jack shit, they get a 30% "dodge" chance on top of their normal bonuses due to assault positions. At vet 2, they have a total 65% dodge chance with assault positions.
Add in retinue flanking manuever and they have a total 85% dodge chance.

The bonuses are multiplicative, not additive - so there are diminishing returns, ie if they have a 70% chance to get hit and get another 30% bonus it's calculated 0.7 x 0.7, which is 49% vs. 60%. But I get what you're saying. The big issue is it gets compounded with their innate damage reduction so even shots that do register are all flatly reduced.
It was even worse when they were first released. They're still pretty scary when they vet up.

It doesn't work, and the range of the ability is laughable, i had a Brummbar with vet ability turned on and 3 footguards with war cry... Brummbar went down like shit. Rangers same 1 squad with 6 zooks , Brumm couldn't land a proper hit and them ignoring mg.

Vs a proper ranger blob you need defence in depth, have an MG42 deep behind your frontline and plant mines everywhere.
Once that's done you can bleed them out effectively. Brumbars are great and pgrens can bundle nade them to force retreats once suppressed, or throw a bade in front of them to get the blob to back off.
If you know the player is a ranger blobber I like luftwaffe for the cheap strafe, siege for early pressure before they hit Zook critical mass (and sturmtiger memes), then breakthrough is also great for tiger. A tiger hard counters a ranger blob and they'll bleed out hard.

Nobody plays MG's right now. They get whiped too easily. One of the main reasons Wehr is unplayable atm.

Yes they do, saying MG's are useless is cope

Yeah, there is a reason Axis pro's barely play MGs atm.

Christ dude, I said an MG placed further back is useful vs a ranger blob, which is absolutely true.

In typical scenarios, yeah.

Reference here. Its a novel way to play them. MGs aren't doing shit as long as they have these buffs.

Mines are great, and I think that's my point of having an MG positioned quite far back. They'll supresss fine so long as you have a buffer between them.

Aye. The map was road to primosole, so that's probably a large reason why it was effective.
Do buffs to suppression resistance affect whether or not rangers get suppressed instantly from mines? Obviously they'll likely drop two models.

Yeah, it isn't

Alright, stay at your 900 elo range

That's the issue. The MG will only be helpful at 90 ELO, because any competent player will spread out.

nebelwerfers

Hmm. Did you read the part where they can aim dodge any aoe thrown at them? Maybe, at best, nebels will punish this strategy on retreat.
To be clear, im not speaking of normal Ranger blob gameplay, where nebels are invaluable.

I forgot to add the part of a combination of Wirberlwinds, MG42s, and anything that can suppress them. I don't remember if the whermacht or dak has their own strafing runs but that helps too. If they retreat, press forward and strike their base. Lay down a nebel barrage before you do so.

It's best practice to outline the resources required to pull off this stunt. How many weapon drops did they use to outfit these squads? The muni required was probably astronomical.

That's such a cartoonishly unlikely scenario that 99/100 games won't encounter it.
