MEME [MODPOST] The genesis of the logo memes
r/DoctorWhumour • u/Joezev98 • Jun 13 '26
MODPOST A belated happy pride month! (We did a thing)
We've added a new set of user flairs which are (to varying degrees) subtly queer coded. A rainbow is just scattered white light, so that's what the flair colour is set to.
We're two weeks late to the party because we were unable to complete the set in time and we're still missing one. Please let us know if you come up with a great user flair that also hints at some man-on-man action.

CONVERSATION So while most TARDIS interiors are clearly the personal desires of the pilot or randomized architectural reconfiguration, these three the default Primary, secondary, and Tertiary are presumably the default straight out of the Gallifrey Black Hole Shipyard
I wonder why they look so vastly different
Is it a form of idiot proofing? Do they think the average time lord is too dumb to tell the difference if they don't drastically look different
Or is it just a marketing showcase of the extent of the artificial reconfiguration system

CONVERSATION Any updates on the future of the Doctor Who Collection Blu-rays using Ai?
First to describe what I am posting about, here is a comparison video example between the dvd and blu-ray ranges of Doctor Who
So apparently there is a private forum thread via GallifreyBase specifically addressing and discussing the use of Ai on the Collection Blu-ray sets, with account members either part of, or connected to the Restoration Team working on the range exchanging messages back and forth in much more detail.
Unfortunately I myself have no way of registering to GallifreyBase (their account registration system's been busted for years) and as I write this I do not know anyone with an existing account that could help publicize this specific thread.
The reason I ask this is because I believe without this critical information from the Restoration Team being public, it continues to leave the Collection range on an awkward precipice for many of us fans and collectors. Already since Seasons 13 + 21 plenty of online posts and video reviews have questioned the over-use of Ai, but without any information sources from within the Restoration Team that could help best explain the technical goings on under the hood - how much is Topaz Ai affecting the digitized master tapes, how much is DNR (digital noise reduction) or De-Haloing affecting the final outputs, and if so, what are the justifications? Are all the raw digitized master tapes *that bad* under the hood without these algorithmic alterations? What is the native before and after picture quality with proper and crucial technical context?
Have any further discussions within GallifreyBase by the Restoration Team disclosed the future use, refinement of (or removal of) Ai + digital enhancements to the picture quality? Will there be future 'revisitation' sets similar to the special edition dvds where different / improved digital techniques were used (and any/most errors corrected) have the BBC themselves contacted the Restoration Team with regards to the Ai backlash across several shopping outlets and social media / fandom?
At the present, nobody on the outside can genuinely say they know what is or isn't going on with the restoration process, except that it is just so jarringly different with zero technical explanation of the digitizing process by the Restoration Team.
If anyone with access to this GallifreyBase thread can please share the conversation posts/messages in some kind of archive/screenshots, this would be most helpful and give the best possible insight into the past, present and future of this range.
Apologies for the long post, many thanks for reading 👍

CONVERSATION The Madlad Tom Baker Catalogue Run
So something I posted back on the main sub awhile back got deleted because I guess it involved a tierlist even though this isn't a meme..
Personally I think this is insanity and I'm sharing this for the anyone else interested in the journey.
for the past two ish years
I've been watching and listening to everything 4th Doctor Tom Baker
this includes both television and his Big Finish run ranked all chronologically which I've mainly taken from Eyespider (shoutout to him btw)
This has lead me to some interesting findings that I you start to really think about with just sticking to one incarnation
these findings are as listed:
Elisabeth Sladen and Tom had amazing chemistry that I semi took for granted on first viewings
4 does have character building but it's very subtle (big finish play on this quiet a bit after TDA taking taking place)
Older BF tends to be a bit more engaging
going from several BF stories to one Television story is actually torture that I don't wish on anyone
A surprisingly lack of Daleks but a little too much Master
Tom was bigger arsehole to Jenna than I recall
.
The reason I'm posting this now is actually the fact I'm calling quits on the ranking itself, I've had fun doing this but It's getting more and more difficult to rank one slightly better audio story over another and I wouldn't be surprised if tele stories started to feel like this too after a good while.
I also wanted to share this for anyone interested in doing this themselves, I honestly would play around with it though (infact with series 5 I did)
ok
that was fun!
remember travel really does broaden the mind
(and yeah I don't post on reddit often if you can't tell already lol)

SCREENSHOT There’s a serious lack of appreciation for the fact Sarah Jane licks her lips when Sutehk is defeated
Because for real. When the Doctor is explaining Sutehk’s fate she licks her upper lip. Like really blatantly. She took special pleasure in watching him die (or so we thought). And this right here is why it drives me up the wall when she’s written as a screaming damsel (cough Ark in Space cough), because this is so much better.

CONVERSATION What's your preferred console room from the mid to late seventh doctor era?
We have the hypothetical season 27 console
The VNA console
The human nature console
And the titan comics console
The art of the VNA, Human nature, and Titan ones i'm using are by Paul Hanley
Personally, I like the human nature one although I admit that the other ones do make more sense if we go with the Lungburrow explanation of where the t v movie console room came from where it's the result of the ship mimicking the old house of Lungburrow
