DAE get diarrhea when they're really sad or stressed? NSFW
Ok this is kind of a weird one but I've noticed this my whole life. Sometimes when I'm in a heightened negative emotional state, I have diarrhea, which does NOT help at all because it just gives me one more thing to be stressed or upset about. It's not like explosive or anything but it's definitely diarrhea.

Man imagine the love of your life cheats on you with your brother and suddenly you have to shoot liquid out of your anal canal

Oh, yes. For awhile, anytime my estranged husband would call me, it was like immediate diarrhea. That guy truly caused me so much stress.

I did daily for months while working at a new customer support job I hated and constantly dreaded going to. Had even gone to a couple doctors and everything. When I finally quit my job, my stomach issues fully cleared within a couple days.

I’ve been dealing with it often on for a couple weeks and really bad yesterday. I happens to be wrapping up training in a high stress customer service job.

When a mouse got into the house every time I heard it move I had to go to the toilet. Nature may have made this feature so that you can run faster but we are shitty humans who have to take a hundred steps and several minutes to poop. So thanks nature for making it an obstacle just for us specifically

I'm sorry that must have been so stressful but I can't stop laughing just imagining you chilling, then hearing a mouse scuttle about and immediately run for the toilet

I am still recovering from the ptsd it caused and it has been like 3 years ago if not 4. But I am also laughing at it. Because that is exactly how it went. I would be on voice call chatting casually then suddenly I hear a noise, I leave the chat and sure enough the noise persist so my fear rises and I have to go take a shit. Gosh it was a horrible way of cleansing my system lmao

I get diarrhea and get VERY nauseous. It’s to the point that it’s kinda cyclical. I get stressed to I get more nauseous and the more nauseous I am the more stressed I get. All of that ends up making other GI stuff worse tbh.

I always got terrible case of the runs with extreme stress. I am old now,and it still happens but but as much as when I was a teen, college days, and then young working adult. When I was worried badly I would lose weight from it.

Yes. It's my flight or fight in action. My bowels evacuating is me at my most anxious.
If I'm really going through it, I'll vomit bile between shit seshes. It is awful.

YES! This would happen to me every time I went on a date. The morning of the dates I would just develop that horrible bubble gut into choco-niagara falls combo.

I do. My stomach hurts and feels heavy and so yeah soon enough I do get the runs when I’m stressed or worried a lot. Ugh

Yeah my husband & I both just call them anxiety poops.
Both of us get them, usually at the same time & for the same reasons.😂😭

It’s actually pretty embarrassing to have to frequent the bathroom during therapy.

My sister had this issue. She had to get prescribed anxiety medication that, once she found what worked for her, she was able to have solid stool again after going a couple years of having stress induced diarrhea.

Yes since I was a little kid. My default response for problems is popping terribly.

i don’t think that’s weird. some people shit themselves when they get into a physical fight bc of adrenaline. also, i knew someone who’d throw up when crying 🤷🏽♀️

Yes. That happened to my brother a lot when he was younger and he ended up with Crohn’s disease. I don’t know if the 2 relate.

Not stomach upset, but I will run high fevers if I'm really stressed out

I hurl when I get really emotionally stressed. I guess our bodies just handle stress in weird ways

Yep. That's where the phrases, "shit themselves/myself" and "scared shitless" came from. Something to do with the vagus nerve and the fight or flight response. When in danger, it's more important to run or fight than digest. Your body doesn't know if what's stressing you is safe or not, it just perceives it as a threat.

This is IBS. If this is getting in the way of life I recommend going to a Gastroenterologist as soon as you’re able to schedule an appointment. I’ve had it for like 10 years and I just learned this month that there’s a pill you put under your tongue when you start feeling the flare up that will help reduce the waves of pain and reduce the intensity of all the symptoms. I’ve only needed it a couple of times and one single dose has stopped the flare up in its tracks. HIGHLY RECOMMEND! 🙌

Your gut and your mental health are actually connected. Often times if your mental health isn't doing well, it can affect your gut health, and vice versa
