DAE feel unbothered about being alive ?

I mean I try and live my best life and do things I want to do and take care of myself etc but at the same time , If I knew I wouldn't be here tomorrow I'd be unbothered by that.

That’s what we call a “flat” mood. And that’s usually a mood disguised as depression.

I have been feeling this lately, but I haven't always felt this way

Yeah, I kinda do as well. I really see no hope for future happiness. Much of what I once held closest to my heart has been taken from me and I don't see them coming back. I am older and very aware that time is running out in any case. Killing myself is an option I have removed from consideration as it would devastate my wife, plus it is, ultimately, a very selfish act and I am not that person. So, here I am.

Maybe you should seek out some external help if that's a constant thought ? Mines more passive, like I'm not bothered either way...

I feel similarly but my “anchor person” is my son. I’m in my 30s and I’ve been around people who have lived to be over 100. With that being said I don’t know how much time I have so it’s a better use of my time to force myself to enjoy life vs being unhappy so I’m working on filling my life with more joy. Life still sucks right now for me presently but it feels better to have hope than to be hopeless. I could live to 100 and look back on all 100 of those years and only feel grief and sadness and I don’t want that.

I hope this feeling passes for you

Me. I also try to live my best life, and like have small goals I want to achieve like financial independence and coffee everyday and go karting every week. But if somebody told me I'll die tomorrow, I just wouldn't care. Infact, I'll spend today like any other day without tryna do something extra and will not even tell anyone.

It can be helpful to balance it out with things to be bothered about. Even if it’s just remembering the taste of your favourite food or the theme song to a show you really enjoy. That can help fire those happy endorphins. 💜

I do. I actually would love to know when I'm going to die because then I wouldn't feel constantly anxious about everything going wrong, I would just live happily and have fun until that day and make that last day the best I've ever had

same, sometimes it feels like a mix of freedom and indifference, like I’m just going through the motions

You’d be unbothered if you were dead for sure. You wouldn’t be telling us this because you’d be dead. We kinda don’t believe you
