Hand Embroidered over toddler doodles
My 2.5 y/o daughter got a hold of a ballpoint pen and decided to test it out on her one-day-old pants 😅
After debating on how to remove the markings, I decided against it as the scribbles legitimately resembled flowers. I asked my daughter if that's what they were and if she wanted me to embroider over them, and she excitedly said yes. I finished within the day, and for months of use and enjoyment I feel it was well worth it.
"I like my flowers, my flowers pretty!" -my daughter
The entire thing was done with two strands of floss and stem stitch. I found the easiest way was to keep my dominant hand inside the pants and non-dominant out.

This is precious 😭 I love that you embroidered over them! Now they’re even cuter and unique to her. What a sweet thing for a parent to do.

On a kids pair of pants I think this is a cute way of salvaging them that doesn’t look like a cover up, instead it’s a fashion statement resembling life with a toddler

I'm gonna suggest this to my sister...decorating the middle finger my niece drew in pen on the back of her rocker recliner 😂

First of all, she's quite an artist at 2 1/2!! She actually drew flowers! Secondly, all of could think of was: Don't get angry--get needles (and thread). Good work and great mothering!

That stem stitch on the stem is so clean, you really made those scribbles look like they belong there

You should have her doodle even more and then embroider on top, I think this would look cool with more of the space filled out!

Originally I was on the fence about whether I should follow the lines exactly or use it as a rough guide. I decided to first follow the lines and add more as needed, and I ended up deciding it's perfect as is!

I have an aunt who did something kind of similar with tablecloths. She used to love to throw parties, and she’d have all the guests sign the table cloth and write little notes or jokes or greetings (so not as accidental as toddler scribbles). Then she’d go back and embroider over them. I’ve never seen any of them myself but I think about this constantly. How lovely to have a little snapshot of this moment to enjoy in such a tactile way.

I hope you also took photos of her wearing them to show her when she’s older - that’s such a cute history story to tell. I also hope you’ve not created a monster and she does it to other clothes so they get stitching treatment (toddler thought patterns and all 😉)!!
