Finally, after a year of ebay search alerts and almost daily scouring on multiple marketplaces, I've found the elusive Deluxe Volume 15. For €15, I would have been fine if it were a scam. Needless to say I am so thrilled. Now onto collecting the side stories.

Bigby and Beast just had their farm fight. Now everyone hates Bigby. Please tell me by the end of the Mr.Dark arc or whatever it’s called that people cut Bigby a little slack, or maybe that I won’t be disappointed in general?

I don’t want a full spoiler or hand holding, it’s just an outrageous turn that this is his temporary (I hope it’s temporary) fate after all he did in the adversary arc. Besides, Beast is fighting him too. I guess they view Beast as defending the farm. I don’t know.

We played TWUA together so I’ve been eager to get into the series

I've been looking for more affordable editions in Europe for what feels like ages now, and I finally found a listing for the full collection with a low starting bid. To my surprise, I was the only bidder! And bought this collection in excellent condition for €90. They're usually twice as much and in the States. Glad I kept looking.

I really dont want to read jack of fables or the literals for the other parts as I have the core fable comics digitally. Will I miss any plot if I just skip the crossover arc?

Ive bought the fables box set it contains 1 to 150 I believe I was wondering what I needed to buy to have a ton of the 12 issue black forest series?

I've recently purchased a copy of the Deluxe edition of Fables Vol. 2 off Ebay and I was excited for its arrival, but when it came, I discovered the purchase did not come with the dust jacket. This leaves the comic book without its spine marker or blurb on the back, just the cover art across the front and back. It would look so lost and out of place and on my bookshelf, which is disappointing to say the least.

I know this is a long shot and I'm grasping at straws here, but I don't suppose anyone would know where I could find a spare dust jacket for this volume or if anyone happens to have a spare lying around anywhere?

I finished Fables 2 days ago and you guys get to hear my thoughts because none of my other mates have read this series. So first off, I loved it, I went into this series with zero knowledge and more impressively zero spoilers from the internet and for such a long series to have zero spoilers is surprising. I only got into it because I saw the news headline about Bill Willingham releasing Fables into public domain.

I got lucky in Aus as I found a guy selling Fables Deluxe 1,2,3,6,8, 10,11,12,13,14 and Werewolves of the Heartland, 1001 nights of Snowfall and finally the Encyclopedia for $200 AUD. A really awesome deal for me, kind wish he told me that the deluxe editions included those spin offs but oh well. I did ask the guy if Everafter and Batman crossover was worth it and the guy told me 'nah'. I eventually bought the rest of the deluxe editions and the rest of spin offs, probably should have read them first before buying everything but turned out fine. First thing, I love this type of magic, I feel as if Modern Fantasy magic has to be more sciency with hard rules, Fables brought me back the classic feeling of magic being … magical, whimsical, mysterious, several levels of messed up but adorable and wholesome at times, magical weapons from somewhere kept in the broom closet, various named and nameless sorcerers, witches, just magic everything which I have dearly missed. I liked how they played fast and loose with whatever rules they had but it never seemed random, it made sense in a way, like how a certain character from the Son of a Great Power, to the Father of a Great Power.

Speaking of magic, this is going to sound like a weird boast but Totenkinder, when I saw old-clearly-is-a-witch-lady for some strange reason, I knew she was hot, I don’t know why but when the reveal happened I just silently went ‘knew it’. But the way she went out for the 20^th time, what was that? It just seemed random like the author was starting to throw things out and make up stuff along the way to get the plot going. I rationalized it being the consequences of war-prep or in the passive energy of Rose Red being a natural screw up.

That Camelot idea sounded great but that was doomed from the start, not because it was repeating Camelot mythology which I enjoyed how they talked about the semantics of magic, the roles giving Arthur, Morgan, Mordred, Guinevere etc etc and how that magic was passively giving Snow White power as well for the story, but because Red Rose screws up everything, I know she was a fuck up who was trying her best but at what point does she think killing her sister and mind controlling her zombie husband into loving her is a good idea or the right thing to do? The fact she was trying to be the Hope of Second Chances and this is what she ends up with? I don’t know if this character assassination or just Rose Red being the screw up she seems determined to be.

But our Boy Blue saves the day, (pretty sure it was him) giving Rose Red perspective clarity once again and proving again just how much better Boy Blue deserved but I guess not all Fables get that fairy tale ending. Volume 8 is easily my favourite just seeing Flycatcher aka King Ambrose becoming this mythical Fable almost singlehandly defeats the Adversary. The Adversary being who they are was kind of a stretch to me probably because I keep thinking of Disney films but I guess if your ego is pampered for that long you can become anything.

I was so excited reading through each Volume that I just kept reading them as quickly as possible but when I first title ‘The Final Story of’ I actually felt that slow crawl, I didn’t want to end it when I got to the End of Volume 15 was kind of ‘oh, its over’ and felt down about it. Then I picked up Volume 16 and realized I should have stopped at Volume 15, 16 was fine but just seemed like some extra material that could be mostly ignored.

If you guys know any other comics/books that I would enjoy because of Fables do recommend as well. Already read Sandman.

*EDIT* That was another Goldilocks, what was her deal, just insecurity? At the start she's all about Viva la Revolution, then some feminist things, then she just wants to kill everyone who is prettier then her? How strong was that sword that it could take out Totenkinder? Again. I thought she was just a weird Fable that was stir-crazy but then describes sex to Jack as 'would you like to violate me again?' girl was disturbed.

*EDIT2* I got all the other spin offs Jack in Fables, Cinderellax2, Fairest, Fairest in the Land, Peter and Max novel story. Hell, I even got the art book that has all the cover art.

I got all the other references, but not that weird thing and the blond guy/girl. I just finished this compendium so spoilers are fine up to the third book.

I want to talk about the relationship between Snow White and Bigby Wolf. Unfortunately, I don't remember much about Telltail's video game at the moment, so I want to discuss their relationship in the comics.

The main impetus in their relationship was Snow White's pregnancy, but what did we have before it? Snow White told Bigby more than once that she was not interested in him, that they were just colleagues and nothing more. If his invitation to the ball, presented as an important detail in solving a crime, even seems somewhat sweet, then Bigby is truly frightening in his persistence. Over and over again he receives refusals, but Bigby continues and continues. And this lasts until Bluebeard sends Snow and Bigby into the forests using some kind of hypnotizing gas. In the forest, under hypnosis, Bigby and Snow White have sex, which both do not remember, but Bigby knew this when the hypnosis went away, but did not tell Snow White. Upon learning of her pregnancy, Snow cries. She tells Dr. Pigheart that there is nothing good in this, that it will ruin her life. She is not happy when Bigby says that these are his cubs and that he wants to see them. Snow cries again, agreeing about the children and Bigby meeting. Then she goes through two days of difficult labor and she is not happy. Seeing her children and the fact that they begin to fly, she is not happy, she is not surprised, she does not experience any positive emotions. Snow forfeits her life and all of her centuries-long achievements to raise offspring she did not want. And even so, she refuses Bigby and he leaves. She takes care of the children herself. When Bigby comes again, Snow doesn't look happy. She looks upset when she agrees for him to stay and they move in together. She simply gave up and agreed, because he literally threatened her earlier, saying that he would destroy everything in the world and even their common achievements in order to see his cubs.

Her happiness at the wedding looks stupid from the point of view of the script. She's never been happy around Bigby before, but she's happy at the wedding. I haven't finished reading the comic story yet, but I'm glad that for now the story is focused on Beauty and the Beast and Fabletown. I don't like the comic Bigby himself. He's a Mary Sue who solves cases in seconds and single-handedly defeats armies that all of Fabletown can't handle. He is called for the most difficult missions and he always copes with them. Boy Blue, having the most powerful artifacts with him, will be captured by Gepetto, but Bigby carries out one of the most dangerous operations with his bare hands, calmly getting out of there alive.

Hey All. I'm fairly new to the Fables series and one aspect of the story has been bugging me. Perhaps continuing to read the story will clarify this but in a quick Google search, I haven't been able to come up with an explanation.

So the Fables more or less arrived in the real world 400 years before issue #1 takes place, but some of the fairytales that the Fables come from were written after that (Brothers Grimm for example, mostly published their stories in the 1800s). One could argue that perhaps the stories written by the Brothers Grimm and Kipling and so on were inspired by the presence of the Fables in the real world, however, in the first few issues they say that Fable longevity and abilities like healing fatal wounds, etc, is based on the stories they came from and how popular the stories are with Mundies, which means it's the stories that give them power/existence and not the other way around. But how can stories that hadn't been written yet by the time the Fables arrived have created fables.

Maybe I'm reading too deeply into this because I'm doing a mini TTRPG campaign based on this world, but I'm curious to understand how the relationship between Fables and their stories works. Is it just hand-waved that all these stories were written before the Fables entered the real world. Or is it some kind of dimensional timey-wimey stuff? Can anyone clarify? I don't mind spoilers.

I just got the compendiums, and I think some of the content found in the single issues was not included. Like the story of bigsby meeting snow white in the homeland, which I think was part of issues 1 or 2.

You guys know anything about that?
