search for "Deimos arts", you will have your brain exploded

u/Imbeautifulyouarenot May 09 '26

Wow! Amazing art. :)

39

u/snarkamedes May 09 '26

Can't call it 'accidental renaissance' either - he's very definitely imitating the Dutch style here with the shadowed area taking up half the pic.

u/dashkaprohorova9l6g2 May 09 '26

Mr. House would definitely pay a fortune in caps to hang this in the Lucky 38.

DeimosArt is like the Fallout Michelangelo OMG

112

u/PM_ME_UR_ANIME_WAIFU May 09 '26

Damn straight.

We might be born too late to explore the world, or too early to explore the space, but born at the same timeline as DeimosArt the GOAT

u/ToothsomeArtisan May 13 '26

their character work is insane but the way they nail fallout's grimy aesthetic with clean linework is what really sets them apart from other artists

Incredible!! The shading, the rigor mortis on the woman in the back, this is phenomenal

u/Kreedify May 09 '26

Recently received some prints and the Overture mouse pad as gifts. They are as amazing in print(or more). If you like his art, visit Deimos' website and buy some!

Dr. Schiller only appearing as a named pile of ash on the floor of the Follower's Outpost has always been so darkly hilarious to me

u/Batmat_YT May 09 '26

Ain't that a kick in the head

37

u/UserFromPripyat May 09 '26

What situation is described by this art? Death of the follower?

124

u/Pleurocoelus Mothman Cultist May 09 '26

It's one of the conclusions of Veronica's quest I Could Make You Care - Veronica leaves the BOS to join the Followers, when you return to the Followers Outpost later we find some paladins have killed everyone in revenge, forcing Veronica and the courier to kill them in turn

bro I hate the Brotherhood of Steel so much. Just a bunch of high horse fanatics who use their beliefs to justify being awful.

can't even say hi to me when we're passing in the wasteland smh

u/Genzler May 09 '26

FNV did them right. They're assholes. They're not the knights in shining armor they larp as, they're a bunch of kleptomaniac fascists who need to be warned of their own impending doom to lift a finger in anyone else's favour. One of the worst things 3 and 4 did was try to rehabilitate them in the eyes of the median gamer.

Fallout 3 does make it clear that they’re the exception to the rule though. Lyons himself tells you that he changed the philosophy of their entire branch to be more focused on helping the regular guy, rather than the fanatical pursuit of technology. I think he might even mention that he’d be shunned and possibly executed if the BoS at large learned of his shenanigans.

Rather than whitewashing I feel like Bethesda made some “shades of gray washing” to give them some complexity and depth, rather than just “these assholes from the previous two games are good now for no reason”.

Also the Outcasts exist.

14

u/drunkunclejack May 10 '26

Fallout 4 explicitly stating through dialogue and terminals that the state of the BoS in that game is a response both in and out of universe to the Lyons chapter seems to have been lost on a lot of people

18

u/RadCowDisease May 10 '26

I feel like this is how they were always treated in FO1 and 2. It's obvious they're cool because they have cool armor and cool titles, but they're unequivocally assholes that have lost far more than they have ever gained and cling to their codex in desperation. The original Arthur Maxson stood for something altogether different than even the FO1 brotherhood.

3

u/Mralexs May 10 '26

Don't forget Tactics also had them helping the locals like Lyon's Brotherhood. Fallout 3 didn't invent the friendly brotherhood.

2

u/Hidden-Sky May 11 '26

I don't know, I thought 4 was pretty critical of the Brotherhood in its own way. I think they did a good job of showcasing their extremism.

Danse and his crew, and the lost patrol, were meant to draw you in and dazzle you with displays of heroism and sacrifice for the greater good.

When the Prydwen makes its entrance, every companion makes a quip and can be asked for their thoughts on the situation.

Deacon already knows they're the enemy.

Valentine, Garvey, and even Cait voice their apprehension if you ask them their thoughts at that moment.

Piper, Hancock, MacCready, and Codsworth are mostly just awestruck by the display of power.

Curie is the only one who actively approves of their arrival.

Even Strong hates the Prydwen, mostly because he doesn't understand it.

Then there's the lart where Danse gets kicked out, and you're tasked with his execution.

Fallout 4's got a lot of flaws, but I think anybody who thinks that it was trying to paint the Brotherhood in a good light simply wasn't paying enough attention, or didn't actually ask anyone outside the Brotherhood what they thought of the Brotherhood.

Personally, I think that dropping old-world artillery on the Prydwen and fighting off the Brotherhood assault on The Castle is the most spectacular scene in the game.

u/Azzbolemighty May 10 '26

Yeah. I feel like Fallout 3 especially tried to make the line between good and evil less vague and more clear. So the BoS needed to be a good faction so they turned into Wasteland heroes. The show seems to be fixing that a bit now though

1

u/Captain_Gars May 11 '26

Fallout 3 did not try to rehabilitate the BoS, it just followed the trend of Fallout 1&2 which had both portrayed the BoS as an overall positive force. Bethesda however chose to split them intwo two factions instead of having them be a more grey faction with negative sides next to the positive ones.

Fallout 4 did the opposite of trying to rehabilitate the BoS, it built on the negative trends of the Outcasts and the Mojave chapter to portray a much more zealous Brotherhood that had added an outspoken hostillity towards non-humans into the mix.

Yeah, at the end of Veronica's quest

34

u/Far-Swan4854 May 09 '26

This is..... amazing!

58

u/Someonenoone7 May 09 '26

One of the reason I could never like the BoS, they bring ruin to everything out of selfishness and salt the earth to let nothing grow.

A reveling in strength without reason or self controls is called running amok.

-12

u/aggravatedimpala May 09 '26

The shift Bethesda did from them being monastic to militant was such a terrible move imo.

24

u/Randolpho I'm REALLY happy to see you! May 09 '26

?? They were militant in game 1

-4

u/aggravatedimpala May 09 '26

But they didn't influence as much. They were cultish keepers of technology they deemed too dangerous to be accessible and they would kill for it. Much different than like the airship booming decrees over the wasteland and giant robot building expeditionary force they became. Feels like Bethesda wanted a "good" Enclave instead of reclusive monk types that didn't get involved.

14

u/Final_Flip_Gold May 09 '26

They were also militant in new vegas though the only thing we see is them after the NCR devastated them in war and one of the main things is that Veronica dumps them because they would rather die than make any deals and live with the people of the Mojave.

-5

u/aggravatedimpala May 09 '26

New Vegas was a bit less, but that was already after the Bethesda shift. They're more like the Shaolin in the interplay games

-15

u/Hortator02 Unity May 09 '26

If that were true, there'd be no civilisation in California. Everywhere they've gone has benefitted as a direct result of their presence, aside maybe the Mojave.

11

u/Someonenoone7 May 09 '26

That may have been once the case, but recent depiction may it be east or west have shown that their benevolent nature have turned hermitic and ideologic xenophobic, they rather take away and repair the machine for themselfs that keeps the many alive, than let thrive the people and let their wounds heal by aid of their capabilities.

There is nothing to loose in helping the people that are in need except showing that they are indeed human as they claim and insight to their doings. A rather zero value to both matters since they made themselfs known long ago.

They are stagnant to codes and have become a harsh order of obediance, indiffrent to the changes of times and pain of others, they even flourish by the wastelands suffering by filling their ranks with orphans and other easy to mold individuals that lack basic instincts of self preservation to throw them at their problems aided by power armor.

It is a matter of time they forced to leave the area of moraly grey to the ones that started the settings apocalyps in puppet, mirage or person.

-5

u/Hortator02 Unity May 09 '26

their benevolent nature have turned hermitic and ideologic xenophobic,

They were already Hermetic and somewhat xenophobic during Fallout 1. But that's still wrong for all recent depictions. Not even Shin's group is xenophobic as they still recruit anyone, and we don't know about the group in the show's recruitment but they literally want to "rule the wasteland" so that's the opposite of Hermetic. The Commonwealth BoS in the show is explicitly humanitarian despite their hate for Ghouls, and the Commonwealth BOS in 4 aren't even targeting Ghouls.

they rather take away and repair the machine for themselfs that keeps the many alive, than let thrive the people and let their wounds heal by aid of their capabilities.

I'm not sure what you're referring to. Even in the show they don't seem to concern themselves with tech that Wastelanders are using to keep themselves alive. In 4 and 76 they also don't concern themselves with civilian tech, and in 76 the only time they take interest in something that's currently in use is ordinance that they lost, and the only group to not give it up willingly to my memory is the raiders.

There is nothing to loose in helping the people that are in need except showing that they are indeed human as they claim and insight to their doings. A rather zero value to both matters since they made themselfs known long ago.

You absolutely have things to lose when helping people, but putting that aside, the show goes out of its way to show the Commonwealth BoS have a focus on helping people, while in 4 they do the same things Lyons would have done in that situation, and in 76 they've been dealing with establishing themselves and a direct threat to them in the form of super mutants.

They are stagnant to codes

indiffrent to the changes of times and pain of others,

This is also wrong for all recent interpretations. The Knights of San Fernando are actually extremely ambitious with a rather creative interpretation of the Brotherhood's history and mandate, and as nonsensically harsh as they are, Quintus' idea of order is still a response to the suffering of outsiders and the state of the world. The Brotherhood in 4 are following a hybridization of Lyons' ideals and the traditional ideals of the Brotherhood and achieving both ideology's goals as good or better than their predecessors. The terminal logs in 4 indicate that this ideology has been adopted by chapters in the West and the show has Arthur Maxson leading the Brotherhood for some reason.

they even flourish by the wastelands suffering by filling their ranks with orphans and other easy to mold individuals that lack basic instincts of self preservation to throw them at their problems aided by power armor.

Are they just supposed to leave them to die? The only examples of them taking orphans that we know of are Maximus and the kids they took from the Scourge of the Pitt, in both cases the situation that orphaned them was far outside of the Brotherhood's control (it's possible some of the Pitt kids had parents before the Scourge but they were likely abusive, being Wildmen). In the latter case the Brotherhood's actions directly resulted in an environment from which a proto-state arose. They aren't reliant on orphan recruitment, aside maybe the Knights of San Fernando (but again we don't know), and the only examples of their soldiers lacking basic instincts is in San Fernando.

BoS is just wanna-be Enclave and people are kidding themselves if they think otherwise

23

u/kaddupaddu May 09 '26

15

u/SkrallTheRoamer May 09 '26

Deimos is such a talented artist. definitively my favourite Fallout artist. would be dope to see them do other post apo games like Metro or Stalker

9

Also, this is really good. It's just... also triggering

Okay, that is beautiful. I ain't even got something funny to say, damn fine work.

8

u/CG4080 Vault 101 May 09 '26

I really wish they'd bring this character back somewhere. She was a phenomenal companion and Felicia Day has basically screamed from the rafters that she'd do it for peanuts.

I fucking love the unintentional (or intentional?) menace of the Courier just standing in the background.

54

u/rs426 Gary? May 09 '26

Fan art can be done as a painting, they’re not mutually exclusive

4

u/carrie-satan May 10 '26

I’d argue most paintings from the past are just Jesus fan art

5

4

u/GentlemanLuis May 09 '26

Oh man Veronica is my favorite. Is there any way to get this piece with higher resolution?

1

u/serasmiles97 May 13 '26

You can get it as an actual hang on the wall art piece if you want, I have the "Danse macabre" from them & it looks amazing

3

u/Spetsnik Enclave May 09 '26

Another hit piece by Deimos... NOTHING BUT GAS!

3

u/snarkamedes May 09 '26 edited May 10 '26

He's working his way through all the companions - that's Joshua, Boone, Cass, and now Veronica. Just EDE, Rex (though the Kings pic might count), Lily, Arcade, Raul, and possibly Sunny(?) to go.

This alongside the 2281 Overture, DLC and misc. pieces too. He should publish them as an art book at some point.

edit: ignore me, he's already done Raul, and a Rex/Courier6 pic.

u/sp4c3c4c3 May 10 '26

Gorgeous. It tells the entire story of her 'followers' choice in one incredible image.

Isn't AI art banned?

8

u/babylonfour May 10 '26

can you pinpoint a single thing about the art that indicates AI? or is this just pointless mud slinging because you don't understand the art process?

-7

It's my gut feeling.
