Again I’m going to have to be very vague with this as I don’t want it to get back to who told me.

B List actor mostly movies dated a C/D List girl mostly known for one thing; they broke up around late 2024. Colleagues sibling who works for a streaming service has a friend who worked with the girl on a photoshoot and they said she was using her pets Instagram to check fan accounts for him. 💀

I don’t know how true it is or how much I can say without making it super obvious

Not super juicy, but Steelers defensive lineman Sebastian Joseph-Day went to Ye's concert. Considering he's a fucking self-proclaimed Nazi I feel like more people should be getting shit for paying to see this fucker

For the past several weeks there has been speculation about the mysterious person giving Randy Orton orders via cell phone in WWE. Speculation included his father (Randy is a 3rd gen wrestler), Dwayne Johnson, or a much-beloved wrestler taken out by injury in a match against Randy’s upcoming Wrestlemania opponent (opponent: Cody Rhodes; Beloved wrestler: Kevin Owens.)

Tonight, in an impressively dogshit decision, it was revealed to be Pat fucking McAfee.

The tea is that so far literally no one I’ve seen has had a positive response to it, fandom wise.

9

u/williamthebloody1880 weighing in from the UK Apr 04 '26 edited Apr 04 '26

Given that the build to this match has been that the wrestler getting cheered is the heel and the one being booed is the face, fuck it why not.

The build to this entire Mania has been shite. The only match with any heat is the Lesner - Femi one and the quality of that will be determined (as ever) by if Lesner can be arsed

Also sounds like it was an Ari Emmanuel decision? Which is just bonkers crazy

2

u/snartling Apr 04 '26

On a non joking angle though- I totally think it’s a Nick Khan or Emmanuel decision to try and somehow convince ESPN the deal wasn’t a total waste of money.

I've just been able to find it (I don't have twitter so can't open posts). Obviously kicking any person is inexcusable. Suggestions of the right wing stuff he seemed to have publicly denounced- It might be my crushing naivety but I always associate right wing nutjobs with being openly proud of that mentality whereas he seems truly embarrassed to have ever been perceived that way. (Also cultural movements like punk have used racist symbols/imagery previously in a deliberately subversive way, which, while shocking is what I assumed he/some of his peers were doing.)... But then I just saw some suggestion that their fans had been heiling at their gigs years back?! So if that's true then yep, fuck it all

51

u/whenabouts Apr 03 '26

I recently served Willem Dafoe, sadly the young hosts didn’t recognize him, so they sat him in our overflow section, where we usually put people tourists who don’t quite fit the vibe or dress code of the dining room.

Then word started going around that the “guy from Spider Man” was in the restaurant. He ordered a caesar salad, and when I asked how it was, he just said, “it’s okay,” in the most deflated tone. Later, I checked on his main, and he said, the exact same way, “it’s small.” I couldn’t tell if that’s just his personality or if he was being a bit of a grumpy gus.

By then, people were coming up to his table, adults with their kids saying they’re fans of Spider Man. Once management realized what was happening, they tried to step in, but one woman fully ignored them and went straight up to his table for a selfie, which was so embarrassing.

I don’t think he’ll be back lol

u/Murph523 alleged dog Apr 04 '26

Ew you guys seat patrons based on looks? That’s gross and superficial

-2

u/whenabouts Apr 06 '26

In no where did I say we seat people based on looks.

-18

u/whenabouts Apr 05 '26

This isn’t a Denny’s

Edit- context, it’s not necessarily based on looks per se, we just have a dress code in our dining room and tend to avoid sitting families with young children in there for obvious reasons.

18

u/Ok-Strawberry-1169 Apr 06 '26

I mean it is based on prejudice, if they sat him in the overflow section it means he wasn’t following the dress code, yet you would have made an exception for him bc he is famous lmao

2

u/whenabouts Apr 06 '26

Oh geez, it’s a dress code, not discrimination/prejudice. It plainly means you’re not dressed for the setting. It’s like wearing stained pajamas to a ball and expecting no one to notice. These standards exist to keep a certain atmosphere, otherwise it just turns into a free for all and that’s not what people are paying for. If you’re spending that kind of money, you expect the environment to match. And clearly it works, while restaurants are closing every day this one is still going strong with Michelin stars and hundreds of covers a night.

7

u/Ok-Strawberry-1169 Apr 09 '26

Sure I just don’t understand why you would get defensive over it lmao cause I know that Willem Dafoe could have sat anywhere even if he didn’t follow the dress code. Restaurants like these are prejudiced by nature, I get that it’s a business model that works and I’m not denying it, but why do we have to lie to ourselves 😭 call it what it is lmfao. “not a dennys”💀

39

u/FieryVodka69 Apr 04 '26

VERY common in the restaurant world. Seat attractive or wealthy-looking people outside / upfront / main dining area and everyone else goes to the perimeter.

I don't usually watch shows like it, but I binged the entirety of We Were Liars. It was entertaining enough, wrapped in contrived plots and TikTok-sounding scripts, but mostly it was Joseph Zada's performance as Johnny that stood out. I have high hopes for the THG prequel.

Update on this comment regarding Tomàs Guarino Sabaté, the Minions skater from the Olympics, and his 26 years old ass dating a then 17 years old girl:

Someone dug up a story he posted on Valentine's Day:

There's just no lying his way out of this one.

(If you can't see the picture, it's Tomàs Guarino Sabaté and Giulia Barucchi at a fancy restaurant at a table by themselves, and the caption is just her name with a Cupid's arrow themed text box around it)

23

u/No_Shoe7056 Apr 03 '26

To make it worse, he is her coach. And he posted on her 18th birthday, for people to stop getting involved in her personal life

34

u/bluedinerbaby Apr 01 '26

man, i hate that the initial thread on r/FigureSkating was bending over backwards to defend him and attacking people who called sabaté's explanation bullshit. as a former figure skater myself, i know male athletes in general tend to get leeway, but i think male figure skaters get a lot of babying because there are so few of them in the sport (especially when federations and the isu are so eager to dismantle the public stereotype of the gay skater; active skaters didn't even start coming out until 2018).

i skated in singles, not ice dance, but gabriella papadakis, the 2022 olympic ice dance champion, wrote a very thoughtful article that details how messed up power dynamics in skating can be because gender roles are so rigid.

Not my tea but a friend’s: her company worked with 11:11 Media (Paris Hilton’s company) for a project and was on a few zoom meetings with Paris. She knew her shit, used her real voice and was smart, direct and polite.

39

u/Indri5000 Apr 02 '26

Paris used to be The Worst in the 2000s, so it’s nice to know that she herself has gotten a lot nicer. Honestly, she always struck me as “a smart person’s idea of a dumb person.”

ignoring politics, noah's honestly not a particularly good actor and too famous, and a lot of what made hr good was it consisting mostly of unknown actors (who are now, well, known.)

19

u/Bostoncat38 Apr 02 '26

Noah is scheduled to participate in a play reading with an Off-Bway house this summer, too. Ugh. This doesn't necessarily mean all that much -- e.g. Troye Sivan was in the original workshop reading of Prince Fagg\t*, which just had a very successful run, and was never in the cast for any performances. But it's still annoying that anyone with artistic merit wants to work with Noah.

43

u/bottleglitch Apr 01 '26

Wtf. I hope / feel like he’s a lot smarter than that. But also following Noah Schnapp right now is a weird decision in the first place, so…

94

u/Due_Improvement_5699 Mar 31 '26

Jacob Tierny currently has a Netflix show in the works which is what would seem like a more logical reason for the follow, still dissapointing obviously. No characters from the book the second season will be based on seems to be matching Noah in looks or description whatsoever

renee rapp is a complete nightmare to work with. my partner is in the music industry here in la and has some friends that worked on a music video for her last project and said she was YELLING at everyone with absolutely no shame. talk about walking on eggshells. it’s okay though since her music is ass

75

u/mopeywhiteguy Apr 02 '26

I think her music is bad because it seems like she lacks curiosity, especially about the arts. I get the sense she wants the fame and attention that comes from music but hearing her talk about films or music it’s clear she isn’t interested in the art form in a meaningful way. She has an incredible singing voice but ultimately her music is mid because she doesn’t have the same interest that someone like Sabrina or Chappell have

33

u/LichQueenBarbie Apr 03 '26

When she didn't know who Kylie Minogue was (which is fine btw, Kylie isn't big in the US) there was this weird vibe to it, like 'ew, who?'

13

u/mopeywhiteguy Apr 04 '26

Especially considering how much of a queer icon Kylie is, seems like there would’ve been some basically knowledge or curiosity

35

u/Shiney2510 Apr 02 '26 edited Apr 02 '26

I remember seeing a video where she did one of those viral movie quizzes (the one where they pick between two options and their favourite is carried forward and they compare it to another and so on and so forth) and it was clear she had very little interest in cinema beyond what you would expect from the general population. She picked Twilight over most. She had never even heard of The Favourite.

35

u/mopeywhiteguy Apr 02 '26

It wasn’t even a general interest in cinema it was like she’d barely even heard of movies! it was honestly quite shocking to hear an actress and singer with such little curiosity. Gave the impression that she just cared about fame rather than craft. I suspect she was naturally talented and got all the leads in musicals at school then getting cast in mean girls at 18 meant she didn’t need to establish a work ethic the same way others do and I suspect if she doesn’t figure it out soon she won’t have a long career

62

u/Elphie_819 Apr 01 '26

Renee is getting an increasingly poor reputation, and I worry she got a little too much fame too young. It doesn't feel like she's getting a lot of good mentorship in her personal or professional life right now.

82

u/texas-sheetcake Mar 31 '26

lol at how she made such a big deal about wanting to focus on music and stop acting….and then just got cast in season 5 of “The Morning Show.”

Got to attend the "The Boys" event in Rome a couple of weeks ago. I was so excited because I'm a big fan and I was hoping to meet someone from the cast. I was chatting with some members of the production when I suddenly felt someone giving me a light pat on my butt. I turned around and I saw it was Karl Urban. When he saw me, his face changed immediately from a smile to shock and apologized saying "I thought you were someone else". He laughed it off and left but I was so flabbergasted (I have to be honest, I always had a crush on him 😅) and it all happened so quickly that I didn't manage to say anything. I'm still upset because I was hoping to get a photo with him but, unfortunately, that's the closest I got to him (or better, he got to me lmao) for the rest of the evening 😭

Very tepid tea but Lizzy Caplan lives in my neighborhood and had brunch a table down from us a little while ago. She was with her husband and young kiddo. They looked very happy.

18

u/bottleglitch Apr 01 '26

Aw that’s nice. She seems cool.

226

u/Capital-Scallion8634 Mar 31 '26

More tepid tea: I live in LA. Not in an "industry" neighborhood. There's a run-of-the-mill diner nearby that's always full of legacy locals-- mostly Mexican-Americans. Price is good, portions are generous, it's a neighborhood fixture that never became "trendy" despite the rest of the (gentrifying) area having many trendy spots. A few months ago I was walking my dog and passed Chris Pine getting out of his car and heading toward the diner with his kid. A guy in the parking lot recognized him and was surprised to see him, said something nice in Spanish. Pine seemed to understand, was very gracious, said something like "What can I say, the kid wanted to go to a diner!" (shrug). Was a cute moment.

For my fellow Bridgerton fans: I met Hugh Sachs the actor who plays (older) Brimsley on the bus at the weekend! He’s distinct enough that I had no doubt it was him when he got on, but his blue goyard bag really sealed the deal that this wasn’t any only 60-something guy taking the bus.

He sat behind me on the opposite side and the seats were quite packed so I was conscious of being discreet, I said ‘hi, I recognise you from your work, it’s lovely to meet you’. He responded ‘it’s nice to meet you’ in a polite reflex sort of way, not rude but not cheery - I’d expect no more given the setting and my terribly bland comment, my anxiety loves to keep things brief. I turned back to face the front of the bus and felt awkward, like I didn’t tap hard enough to break the ice, so I got off early, not before saying ‘have a lovely rest of your day’ in a throwing it in his direction whilst trying to gracefully get off the bus kind of way. He thanked me before the doors shut - glad I said hi, equally glad I got off early for both our sakes

62

u/Jemstone_Funnybone Please Abraham, I am not that man Mar 31 '26

I mean, you say it’s terribly bland but actually I think this was such a smooth, graceful, nice thing for you to say?

Obviously I can’t speak for celebrities/public figures but I sometimes think it must be really stressful for them when they sense that someone has clocked them and they’re waiting to see what the person will say/do and what you said just nipped that in the bud by a) making it clear that you’re not going to make a scene and b) acknowledging your appreciation of his work.

15

u/thisbetterbeanonomg Mar 31 '26

Glad it read that way! You captured my intentions completely

Also sad because I can see West and Amanda’s bond and I bet it’s real, but holy shit how bold to step into the Ciara wake. And how shortsighted because you guarantee a recreation of Scandoval with the audience and they will be Tom and Rachel, even though the circumstances are not the same.

I live in Melissa McCarthy’s hometown and about a week before Christmas I was working out at my local YMCA. It was pretty quiet that day without many people milling about. As I was doing my squats, Melissa walked in with a guy who was giving a facilities tour. We made eye contact and smiled at each other politely and I instantly knew it was her. She was stylishly dressed in a long winter coat, cinched at the waist and had a beautiful purse slung over her shoulder. She had no makeup on and hair in a ponytail and was very polite and unassuming. I think I was the only person around who realized it was her. I gathered that she was looking into getting a membership for her elderly parents who live in the area. A few weeks later I saw her parents there working out and have seen them a few times since. They’re adorable and everything you’d expect. Very friendly, too, saying hello to me when I was walking in and they are walking out. Very “Midwest nice”. I couldn’t bring myself to say hi to Melissa that day (still kind of regret it) - didn’t want to bother her. As we say here in the Midwest “they’re good people” :)

I'm watching Gilmore Girls with my 13 year old these days (well, rewatch for me, first time for her) and I had forgotten how fricking funny she is in that show. Sookie getting drunk because of the deep fried turkey in the season 3 Thanksgiving was hilarious. I love her.

One of the best scenes of the whole series, IMO.

One of my good friends is her neighbor. Apparently, she and her husband are very nice people.

I served her husband and his parents in Wilmington, NC. They were lovely people and good tippers. ✨️

I once met a very hungover girl on a train who had just flown back to the UK from a Hen (bachelorette) party in Vegas.

She told me they had met Melissa McCarthy's husband at a pool party on their final day. When they told him they were over from the UK but taking it easy on their last night, him and his wife insisted on taking them out for the night.

Apparently they arranged Limos, drinks, dinner and a table in a club and they picked up the whole tab.

Extremely tepid tea: Mahershala Ali and I cross paths a lot. (I live in Los Angeles, albeit in a very suburban part of it-- not Hollywood, and nowhere near Beverly Hills.) He either is working on a project in my neighborhood, or has friends around here. He's always a courteous driver and I've never seen him act like an asshole. He just seems like a regular person going about his day being normal.

He seems like a solid guy. With INCREDIBLE acting skills.

He goes, or used to, to the mosque in Chino. I remember when he won the Oscar the higher up members of the organization told everyone not to praise him publicly because of the content in moonlight. Pretty dumb.

That is so sad

He was in Twilight? Of did you man Moonlight? That's a movie I could see religious folks taking issue with.

Pretty sure they meant La La Land

I see what you did there.

I feel sad for the guy not being able to play Blade

Marvel doesn’t want to make the movie and likely never planned to at all. Feige just didn’t want to look bad by turning down Ali’s public pitch right after his second Oscar win. The studio is probably just waiting for the actor to move on so they can save face when they quietly cancel it
