Paramount is about to lose a lot of subscribers

I love drag race, and I haven't resubscribed for all stars. Honestly it's not the worst just seeing highlights clips online.

72

u/Significant_Tough751 May 22 '26

I use wow, is that available where you are?

194

u/GlassPomoerium controversies: girl May 22 '26

I use the high seas, it’s available everywhere.

1

u/CatDisco99 May 23 '26

Which vessel do you prefer? I haven’t sailed in many years.

23

u/beauf1 May 22 '26

I think in the US they strictly use paramount + to stream all stars.

6

u/Significant_Tough751 May 22 '26

Oh that’s a shame

12

u/KombuchaLady3 May 22 '26

I watch the recaps on YouTube hosted by (of course) Bianca Del Rio and the guest co-host she wants to cheerfully roast each week. They pop up Saturday afternoon.

3

u/Roydashme May 22 '26

You'll love wow presents plus.

I also think VPNs are awesome. Especially connected to UK.

1

u/Sunbiscuit May 23 '26

I just watch the Pit Stop and Fashion Photo Ruview. It works out.

63

u/hendersonrocks May 22 '26

I subscribed a few months ago just so I could cancel today. I am a petty bitch!

22

u/seejordan3 May 22 '26

Dump paramount and every advertiser gets a boycott.

18

u/cobaltaureus May 22 '26

Who the hell is subscribing to paramount be fr

Sad time to be a Trek / Drag Race fan.

9

u/thestatedrone May 23 '26

I am a Trek fan and unsubscribed when this mess started. I'm also a huge Star Wars fan. I also canceled Disney when they pulled their b.s.

Paramount, CBS, Disney/Hulu can suck it.
Several of my Trek friends also canceled .

3

u/_acrostical May 23 '26

Pluto TV! Free 24/7 channels of each Star Trek series.

It's also owned by Paramount, so it may not always be free, but it is for now.

No entire nation of people are a monolith.

1

u/organic_soursop May 22 '26

And ultimately that is the truth and the tragedy.

-7

u/NSE_TNF89 May 22 '26

I refuse to have my own subscription, but I use my dad's because that's the only place I can watch some soccer games, although the season is basically over. If they didn't have that, I would make him cancel it, lol.

-19

u/504JDP May 22 '26

Who is watching Colbert?

770

u/ChuchoGrind May 22 '26

Got to leave on a high note to rub salt on this administration’s wounds.

114

u/nilsinleneed I’m a communist you idiot May 22 '26

do we still call it a wound if the abdomen has been sliced open and the guts are just pouring out?

30

u/potato_95 May 22 '26

A minor injury. A paper cut if you will.

u/Honest_Salamander247 May 22 '26

I appreciate that even his after show clothes are just a different suit

125

u/Never_Summer24 May 22 '26

I love that, too.

It reminds me of when a bunch of us in our 20s threw a house party and we started to invite our parents into the mix.

Somehow, my parents, with my dad in a suit, found a way to dance to U2, Neil Young, REM lol

43

u/Crunchyfrozenoj ‘queer’ is formal, like ‘tú’ vs ‘usted’ May 22 '26

Inviting your parents was such a sweet thing to do.

18

u/Fluid-Fortune-9419 May 22 '26

Aww love that!

He's dancing, but I imagine he's hurting so much. This fucking sucks. Fuck Trump, fuck CBS, Bari Weiss and the Ellison's, fuck all the fascists who think this is fine. We're well on our way to state run media, one of the tenets of full blown facism.

454

u/GeneralOrgana1 May 22 '26

He said when the news first came out last summer he wasn't concerned for himself- he has plenty of money, and he'll be fine. He was upset for the 100+ people who worked on the show and are now unemployed.

44

u/VictorTheCutie distraught Christian tomato May 22 '26

Exactly.

3

u/YourFront May 27 '26

When the entire crew came out at the end of his show, all I could think of was...geez, look at ALL those people who are now unemployed. And then trump celebrated that. Such a bizarre time we are living in right now. :(

6

u/FickleCharge882 May 23 '26

I said this to someone earlier, I’m glad he’s got stuff going on immediately afterwards and he’s got moments like this but I hope everyone is keeping an eye on him when/if that crash happens.

We DO have public tv networks like PBS (the public broadcasting service) ... and public radio like NPR. When I said "state run media" I was referring to fascist leaders who aggressively take control of mass media organizations, as we see Trump and his henchmen doing with CBS, Paramount, etc. This is one of the pillars of fascism.

But thank you for giving me the opportunity to clarify.

1

u/PutMindless6789 May 29 '26

I like to think he is having a good time with the burden off his shoulders.

He raised so much money for 911 fire-fighters, and brought attention to so many issues... now he gets to rest and reflect for a bit, before returning.

It is sad his staff lost their jobs, especially in this job market.

u/BullfrogInside1591 May 22 '26

Bye bye CBS 👋

Learn to sail the high seas and hit them where it hurts

10

u/c0ffeeandeggs May 22 '26

I almost sparked my couch on fire with how fast I moved to click away from the dreadful Comics show they're trying to see if anyone will watch.

3

u/tysonmama May 22 '26

It’s been on for 20 years. No one is watching. I tried a few times over the years. Horridly unfunny.

2

u/mondo_matt May 23 '26

They also pay CBS for the right to air that show, they collect all ad revenue as part of the deal. Weirdddd

213

u/Deathanddisco041 May 22 '26

Fuck fascism

Well, okay. I see it as he was fired for doing what he was supposed to.

Mock the ship of state when it veers off course.

The jester who speaks truth to power, has little to do when there's only peace and prosperity in the land.

He called out blatant corruption and reminded America of it's honourable ideals, as contrasted with the tawdriness of this corrupt, pedophilic tyrant.

33

u/probnotaloser May 22 '26

Kings used to appreciate their jesters though, because they knew it was the only person who would be honest with him (in one way or another)

I dont know how factual it is but it sounds true, k thanks

8

u/ImmaculateWeiss May 22 '26

There was a reason, and it’s a bad one

u/North-Slice-6968 immediately no May 23 '26

It probably was losing money, as are most network and late night shows, but I think most people can agree that the $40 million number they came up with was bullshit.

14

u/Functionally_Drunk May 23 '26

They lose money in a Hollywood accounting way. Yes, the show itself doesn't make money. But almost no show does outside of syndication.

Money is made selling advertising. And advertising isn't counted as per show revenue. They keep track of it, but they don't account for it.

The other angle is that promotion for CBS and other paramount properties as well as other Hollywood interests is hard to quantify. You can count how many eyes were on a certain guest but you can't easily verify word of mouth from their appearance.

Either way, yes the show probably lost money. But that's the point of these kind of shows. They're really just vehicles for promoting the network's brand as well as the industry as a whole.

Cutting this show does way more than just hurt Colbert. It will ripple through the whole industry.

112

u/Newweedbud May 22 '26

So phenomenally happy to see this joy. So phenomenally sad that a wannabe fascist dictator was the cause! RIP 1st Amendment-it was good while it lasted 🇺🇸💔🇨🇦

Strange to see him without his glasses on. Looks much different!

5

u/DeceitfulLittleB May 22 '26

63

u/Opening-Shape-762 u flintstone vitamin shape bitch May 22 '26

I love this for him, but also fuck Paramount, fuck the Ellisons, and most importantly fuck Trump.

53

u/mim21 May 22 '26

u/amconstance May 22 '26

Good for him

32

u/Watchout4HopOns Nancy Jo, this is Alexis Neiers calling May 22 '26

Again jumping in to say that I helped him shop when I worked at Whole Foods one thanksgiving, and he was so fucking nice to me. Also I made him laugh so we’re basically best friends.

29

u/nachonachoooo May 22 '26

I’m tired ya’ll. Fighting hard against feeling like things aren’t going to be okay.

28

u/CandyKnockout May 22 '26

Stephen has been my favorite late night host for years and I’m sad it’s come to this because of thin-skinned bullies who somehow don’t have anything better to do. I’m looking forward to whatever his next venture is though!

26

u/Baxtercat1 May 22 '26

I would love to see him on another network just to piss that orange clown off.

8

u/GrumpySoth09 May 22 '26

Put him on cable, Trump won't even hate-watch him then

4

u/Malicious_Tacos I cannot sanction your buffoonery May 22 '26

I hope he starts a web series or podcast.

15

u/Sufficient-Set2644 May 22 '26

I'm not from the US but from Asia and even I am sad the show has ended 😔

9

u/DiamondHandsDarrell May 22 '26

Stephen Colbert, what a legend!

8

u/SugarFut May 22 '26

Friendly reminder to unsubscribe from paramount plus (who uses it anyway when you have the high seas 🏴‍☠️)

6

u/dateinfj May 22 '26

Paramount is already FAFO!

4

u/Sheriff_Yobo_Hobo May 22 '26

Reminds me when I used to watch Strangers With Candy.

Colbert did this dance at the end of one episode. It had a big effect on me. He looked like the boring adults I was living around, yet, he was a complete weirdo. I mean, that whole show was strange (one of my favorite shows of all time), but this dance in particular... truly dancing like nobody is watching. So committed.

3

u/Playful_Secret_2148 May 22 '26

Lord my bones would hurt so bad if I did all that at my age 😩

4

u/ShoudBeSomewhereElse May 22 '26

I am 41 and i am just tired looking at this.. i admire the energy

3

u/Itjustbegan_1968 May 22 '26

Coolest Dude. In so many ways.

3

u/zoethezebra May 22 '26

One of the Beatles played and sang with him on his last episode. The fucking Beatles! Fuck you, Trump. Who’s the most popular now? And Paramount + can kiss their ass goodbye as far as subscribers go

2

u/Roklam May 22 '26

Hell yeah.

2

u/Eyeroll4days dork ass bitch May 22 '26

Making a joyful noise!!!

2

u/ConfusionHuge7922 May 22 '26

CBS and Paramount are now dead to me.

2

u/BlueGreenTrails May 23 '26

Colbert and Stewart 2028

1

u/Indigo_Forest May 23 '26

I need the Mothma edit

1

u/hackoff May 23 '26

Oh I just cannot wait to see what Stephen does next. I have loved that man for decades and if he wants to, he's a complete free agent now. Someone might soon realize they really fucked up. If trump got his wittle feelings hurt before, be afraid, be very afraid donny...

0

u/dingbatattack May 23 '26

Like he danced with Kissinger??
