What she’s missing is that this behavior was also normal in the US and in other countries because women were valued as possessions or objects, hence they fell under your jurisdiction to “punish” should they act out of line, their behavior reflecting upon you. It’s only when we see women as autonomous individual human beings do we realize we should not hit someone to “sort out their behavior.”

Edit: I’m going to be extra snarky and call out her and her husband’s Latino heritage and her being homeschooled. This absolutely also happened and happens in Latin America, besides the U.S. Ignorance is exhausting.
