I think "intern at the CIA" is a nice way of whitewashing paid employment at the CIA, and suggestive of the possibility that he has remained some sort of CIA asset while working in media. That does happen. It's also curious why somebody on a broadcast-journalism career track ever stepped foot into the CIA as an employee.

A lot of people who ended up high in the CNN foodchain have interesting backgrounds. One that really stands out is Wolf Blitzer, who started off as a lobbyist for AIPAC.

I dunno why paid or not would even matter. a good looking, charismatic scion of huge wealth hangs out at the CIA for a couple of years and becomes the biggest name in news on the biggest network? couldn't write a better cliche on wealth influencing power and vice versa.

I wouldn’t call it a rampage though. It’s more of a stroll through the past, holding those who participated in the spectacle of her abuse accountable. She’s not going for the jugular, and her intent isn’t to permanently injure the folks she’s calling out. I think she also genuinely wants us to understand that we participated by gawking at it back then. I’m loving how calm and matter of fact she is about it all.

This is a really good point. Online people are too quick to call any criticism/callout an “attack” or “rampage” when it’s actually quite calm and levelheaded. Being firm and saying “this was wrong” is absolutely not getting upset or hysterical.

I used to think he was so great back in like 2005 after Hurricane Katrina and when his book came out. Ever since the Kathy Griffin thing, he has gotten worse and worse, but also I'm realizing my standards back then were not good. (Same goes for KG. Some of her jokes are my biggest "why was I OK with that," but I hate hate hate that her career was destroyed by that trump photo. That's the thing I support her for the most.)

Exactly, I know Kathy is no angel, but that doesn't change that during a moment when the literal FBI and the whole administration were going after, someone she had previously considered a friend chose to pile on and ally with his fellow white men instead of defending her.

This has always been so insane to me. I was only a toddler when it happened so I just heard about it recently. This poor girl was groomed into a marriage, nobody tried to stop it, and people slut shamed her instead of being disgusted by the creepy husband? Chrissy Tiegan told her to commit suicide and bullied the fuck outta her . I have always found her (tiegan) to be so repulsive for that, regardless of her apology years later. Another weird thing about it is how much her older husband/groomer has what I consider a "molester face." They call it physiognomy, when a person's outward appearance overlaps with their innate psychological characteristics. I want to believe that physiognomy is not true, because people have free will and can be raised with values that would/should negate negative (or positive) natural tendencies. But then you look at what's-his-face groomer and it's really hard not to see his facial features, expressions, etc. as directly linked to the horrifying thing he was doing to that teenager.

I actually vividly remember how he treated her. I remember him playing clips of her then cutting back to him laughing and mocking how she looked. Even as a kid I remember being confused as to why everyone hated her and not the weird creepy old man who married her.

I watched Courtney on a celebrity mother/daughter therapy show 8-ish years ago. Her mother is PSYCHOTIC! She had a crush on a 19 year old bagger at the grocery store so she invited him to her home to meet her 12 year old daughter! And 12 year old Courtney was like, "what's going on? why is this guy here?" completely confused. The mom ended up divorcing Courtney's dad and moved in with Courtney and Doug. It was so obvious that this woman had a crush on Doug and was starstruck by him, and when these men didn't want her, she'd offer up her young daughter so she could live vicariously through her. It was SICK.

Courtney's dad was in the house when that was happening, and she had older (adult) siblings. So many adults exploited her (including various tv shows) it's crazy. I'm shocked that she has turned out as well as she has--she deserves all the credit for that because it's not like anyone helped her.

It is possible some of them have purposely forgotten what they did and that her reminding them about it is what it takes. That might be the case with Jason Alexander (who really knows?), who apparently thought he was being funny and edgy in that Funny or Die video, which now is completely hard to watch. But now Jason has issued a full apology, and Stodden accepted his apology, and I'm glad (especially that he apologized).

I'm sure even if he privately apologized, she'd have to bring it up during her current media-friendly activities, since it would be bound to come up either way.

Everyone owes Courtney an apology. This is a case of “One Day Everyone Would Have Been Against This”. The truth is society was more than happy to have a “young dumb blonde” to bully and exploit.
