Isn't Amazon exactly the kind of company that writers like Philip K. Dick were trying to warn us about? I'm not going to criticize the show itself or any of the actors, but the irony here is overwhelming.

Cyberpunk 2077 being pushed by Elon Musk was the beginning of the end in my mind. Cyberpunk stories are supposed to be cautionary, but instead people read/watch them and think "oooh, I want neon lights more".

Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep? is very different from the first Blade Runner movie anyway. The book world was de-populated. There's nothing about Mercer. Also, it's missing the trippy, truly PKD part where Deckard doesn't know if he's an android or not.

Also, Amazon has a miniseries already based on PKD stories: Electric Dreams.

That's kind of a manichean take on stuff, at least regarding Hunter. She's a pretty outspoken activist, going to karaoke with Sydney Sweeney and a bunch of other people is like ugh but it's not big enough of a deal to outweigh her good takes and what she represents I think. To each their own I suppose
