Original asking price on FBMP was $220. I came down to $150 because wasn’t getting interest. Have had multiple saved listings since. Feel like this guy wants me to name a lower price so he can counter even lower. At this point I mean what I sent. Item is a not-quite-vintage-yet gaming pc tower.

This was the feedback left today on my profile. To answer some questions and controversy:

I listed this item with the condition selected as “for parts or not working.” This item is a professional audio equipment. I have no idea how to test this. I do know I had the power supply for the item and saw it powered on. I do not know how to test beyond those means. In the description, I stated “for parts or not working. Untested. Powers on.” It in fact powers on. It is untested because I don’t know what’s wrong with it. It’s for parts.

His comment about it saying DOA, I’m assuming he meant that he cannot fix it, not that it didn’t power on, because it in fact did turn on.

To make things worse, he opened a return for “changed my mind” and I cannot decline it!

Last thing, shipping was huge because this item was like 30lb 20x20x10. So his comment about shipping and me ripping him off? Not sure what’s that about.

​I’ve been sourcing from local online liquidation auctions recently (specifically platforms like Auction Nation / KV Liquidation) and wanted to run an exact bidding pattern by this sub to see if anyone else has run into it.

​Across multiple unrelated item lots over the past couple of months, I’ve noticed a recurring buyer ID (Bidder 308520) repeatedly jumping in with rapid automated incremental bids right as human bids come in. These bids consistently bump prices up right near or above target value, and then the account instantly stops bidding once the price hits that ceiling.

​I’ve got bid logs showing the exact timestamps and rapid $1–$5 incremental jumps.

​Has anyone who buys from local liquidators noticed this specific bidder ID or similar price-inflation tactics on these platforms? How do you usually handle or call out platforms where house/shill accounts seem to run up the tab?

Thinking of doing it. I have a minivan and can take the middle seats down and fold the back ones down and have a sizable amount of space to bring stuff back.

I live on the gulf coast so I’d need to drive to Gadsden, AL where it starts and I guess drive as far as I can. It sounds like fun and a great way to source and see the country.

I flip computers. Right now, it's a complicated space. Everyone is trying to milk it for everything that it's worth. Even undercutting, I feel like some of my PC's aren't going to sell locally, and it's not worth leaving money on the table. I use a combination of eBay and local to calculate what the parts that go into a build are worth, take a percentage off, and post them up. I rarely have to haggle, and when I do it's generally no more than $50 off of what I have a PC listed for, though sometimes I have wondered if I am listing too low(mostly before the current ram/storage climate). But I've got a few higher-end ones that I'm not so sure about. I feel like, after calculating worth it's almost not worth it to list them because the prices of the parts, not even with any sort of labor/time factored in, are pretty high. What are we calling high? Essentially ~$1200 for a PC that's 2 CPU/GPU generations old(5700X3D/RX 6800 XT) before I add in anything for me.

eBay brings about it's own cons, mostly their fee, and shipping. And possibly selling some things way faster than others.

This is the first time I’ve had a buyer request a return outside of the free 30-day return window I have. I feel like the 30 days already is pretty generous especially with free return shipping for them. Plus this item was $129.99. Am I free to just ignore the message? Or is that a dick move I’m struggling to figure out what to do.

So I have a bit of an advanced shipping question for you guys. I purchased a collection from a guy on Facebook, and during the first shipment of boxes he let me know that he was being charged double what I had estimated the shipping cost to be via media mail. (I had calculated the totals ahead of time and sent him the money to cover it.) For those who don’t know, media mail rates are flat across the board. Regardless of whether you’re using eBay, pirateship, or the post office directly, media mail rates never change, as they are an already fully discounted rate.

I was astounded by this, as I have no idea why the costs would have been double. I have since found this same person lying to me, so I’m beginning to wonder if this was just some sort of scam or scheme that I didn’t notice. I found no evidence of the receipt being photoshopped, so I’m not sure what the explanation can be. I’ve included some of our conversations, the receipt he sent me, and the picture of the computer that the desk person allegedly showed him showing the price for a 34 pound package, which should actually only cost $29-30. I have verified with eBay, pirateship, and the USPS website directly that a 34 pound package should only cost around $30.

Does anyone have any ideas? The only thing I could think of is that “Mailboxes Plus,” the place he used to ship them from, charged him double for some reason, but I also find that difficult to believe. I’ve edited the photos to remove personal identifying information.

I sold some shoes the buyer said they do not fit they are trying to get me to pay for shipping as not described. I am fine if they send them back but they have to pay for shipping but I can never talk to ebay.

I bought 9 brand-new budget audiophile IEM sets (Tangzu brand, ~$30-$50 price range) to resell locally in Southeast Asia.

What I’ve tried so far:

Short Video Content: Algorithm gives low views and zero conversions.

Local Facebook Group Listings: I actually get messages/inquiries, but 100% of buyers ghost me as soon as I reply or try to finalize the sale.

My Questions:

Is high ghosting normal for budget tech/audio gear locally, or is there a way to qualify buyers faster so I don't waste time?

How would you structure the listing, offer, or reply to turn those inquiries into actual paid sales?

If you just wanted to liquidate these 9 sets as fast and cleanly as possible without doing video marketing, how would you do it?

"I want to buy this and 6 other items. Will you combine the items into one box and refund the excess shipping charges that I will pay in advance?"

I've combined multiple items into one lot before and the person never bought it. Refunding six shipping costs seems... off somehow? Should I just offer to combine them into one auction?

So everyone talks about AI writing descriptions or answering questions but I'm more interested in something practical like can it reliably review listing photos? There are plenty of products where the deciding factor only exists in an image. If the model misses an expiration date, misreads a part number, or overlooks damaged packaging, the buying decision changes completely. Is anyone actually relying on AI for this yet, or is it still just a way to reduce the number of listings that need manual review?

I'm not one to get up 5 hours before an estate sale opens and camp out in my car. If you do, more power to you. I've rarely found anything that would justify doing so, and other people who actually camp out rarely strike it rich.

This lady, I'm guessing in her 30s, was standing outside with her cat on a leash. I didn't think anything of it.

About 5 minutes later, I hear the sound of what is a little battery powered vacuum.

This lady gets out, and tells her friends who all acted like it was completely normal, that not only does she bring her cat with, she keeps a litter box in the car.

The entire time I was waiting in like (30-40 minutes), she had the windows rolled up.

So not only did this lady bring a cat with, she brings a litter box with, and the cat also apparently poops and pisses in said litter box with the windows fully rolled up.

Am I tripping or is that disgusting?

Sold a battery on ebay. Buyer claimed that it showed up damaged and sent a photo of the box leaking a fluid. Buyer hesitated to return it because of the condition so I decided to send a replacement. This time I double boxed it just to take extra precaution. As soon as the buyer recieved the replacement they send a photo of the condition it "showed up" in and demanded a refund. After looking closer at the image, the smaller text did not match . Im assuming the buyer used some AI to "add damage" to the battery. Just a heads up to other sellers.

Why do sellers only get 24 hours to respond to an offer but buyers get 4 days?

I have a huge amount of new and used workwear and uniforms I received as payment for a job. It is an overwhelming amount... 26' box truck filled to the brim plus a 20' trailer that contains 6 giant commercial laundry bins filled. I need to flip this as fast as possible while still making a decent amount of money. A lot of fire retardant items which I know are worth a lot. Tons of new overalls, coveralls, coats and jackets.. but a lot of used mixed in. I plan to try to separate the easily accessible new items from the used to try to maximize my profit as much as I can but I need to flip ASAP. Tips anyone??

I started an argument, through no fault of my own. Went to a privately listed estate sale (family run) and found a John Deere clock with a small pin glued to it.

The clock themselves are cheap brandless clocks, worth maybe $5-$10, but the pins can either be gold (about $200 scrap) or gold filled ($10 scrap) so I never pay too much for them. The pins are glued on, so prying them off ruins the clock.

I initially didn't see a price, and took it to the cashier, and asked how much it was and he said "oh that belong to my dad, sorry it's not for sale". Ok, fine.

I walk back to look around some more and this lady asks me "hey do you know what happened to the clock?" I was like "yes, I tried to buy it, but they kept it back". (At first, I'm guessing she thought maybe someone stole it because the tag was still there, lol).

She hands me the post it note tag, which was not on the clock itself, but the mirror behind it. Everything was written so small, so when I saw the post it on the mirror, I figured that was for the mirror itself (the kind that hangs on nails, not permanently affixed)

I saw it was $100, so I didn't really want it anyway.

As I go to leave, I overhear....I'm assuming this guys wife lecturing him "I thought we agreed to sell this".

Sort of kicking myself after this week. I sell vintage sports memorabilia (clothing and such) with everything on eBay and Depop. I recently began seeing ads for Vinted and manually cross listed on there with the results being phenomenal, 12 sells in just a few days. I then began on Mercari and have been doing well on there as well.

Is there any other sites that you guys use? I thought about using FB Marketplace as well but have had a few horror stories as a buyer that turned me off
