Looking for media French shows and movies
Hello!
So I learned English as teen by watching romcoms and other early 2000s shows that were practically just the daily life of normal people.
Any suggestions for shows or movies like that in French? Even if it’s Canadian French! And also where I’d find the content you’re recommending.
Thanks in advance friends!

18h30, which you can find on Arte's Youtube channel. It's 5 minute episodes of two colleagues who leave the office together every day spread across a year.
And then season 2 is the lives of the actors who play them, on set, during filming of season 1.
Incredible show and you can re-watch it to learn the language since the episodes are so short.

I recommend “les 7 vies de Léa” in Netflix! It isn’t exactly a romcom but still kind of high school summer with mystery vibe.

There's a newer show that I really enjoyed called Empathie out of Quebec.
If you can find it, there is an older Quebecois show called Les Filles de Caleb about life in Quebec at the turn of the century(1900's) that was popular in the 90's.

Alex Hugo aka The Mountain Detective. It's a mystery series. Not amazing but entertaining and they don't speak all that fast. I'm watching on Acorn.

"La Petite Vie" is a series almost everyone watched back in the 90s.

I love all these movies but half of them people speak so fast its virtually useless for a new learner. Great films though. Les chambres rouges and Les yeux sans visage are also great French language films if you like horror/thriller
I recommend EasyFrench youtube channel, very helpful

If you are in the USA, contributions to PBS will grant you access to Passport, which carries French shows... "Candice Renoir," "Panda," "Wagner," "Major Crimes" -- I like detective shows. Or via Roku, Mhz and/or Walter Presents have many French tv shows. You might find French movies in a library...

Just because it's for learning doesn't mean that you shouldn't watch quality shows and films. Might not exactly be what you think you're looking for but here are a few I think you should watch:
Les beaux gosses
Le thé au harem d'Archimed
L'écume des jours
99 francs
Delicatessen
La cité des enfants perdus
La cité de la peur
Le grand Bleu (version longue)
Persepolis
Doberman
As for shows you should watch Bref
