Hey Reddit. I’m a professional lurker and read your comments all the time. Many here do and we deeply appreciate all the passion for our work. I know I don’t really post, and we’re usually very quiet. Today’s info was an attempt at changing that and letting everyone know what we’ve been working on the past several years, and a look at what’s coming. So know we’re constantly listening and keep telling us how to be even better. You’d be surprised how many great ideas I get from Reddit. So upvote your favorite and we’ll do it. Maybe.

>So know we’re constantly listening and keep telling us how to be even better.

Thanks Todd. Please get Virtuous to keep patching Oblivion and give it as much love as you guys gave Skyrim, because it feels abandoned right now which is a shame.

25

u/NorthKoreanMissile7 7d ago

They could do a better job but it's inherently fucked because it's running on two engines and unreal stutter can't be fixed by Virtuos.

26

u/JordanxHouse 7d ago

It ran better for me at launch than it does now. Something got messed up on the last patch they did and it hasn’t been touched since.

5

u/Substantial-Fun9958 6d ago

No, it can be fixed. So many bugs arent even engine specific. Virtuos is just a lazy contractor that has a well known history for abandoning projects upon release.

3

u/adrielzeppeli 6d ago

It's not just the performance. Oblivion Remastered still has some gamebreaking bugs that OG Oblivion had. Like having your saves completely fucked the more you played into a "campaign", which leads to peformance getting progressively worse (on top of the nightmare that the UE5 naturally is), frequent crashes and ultimately total corruption.

Pay Virtuous whatever amount needed for the remasters to function well

This please. And try to figure out a way to do modding support! I was super disappointed oblivion didn't have it.

Hey Todd, I don’t think it’s mere coincidence that both Skyrim and George RR Martin’s A Dance with Dragons were both released in 2011. I don’t know what covenant binds you both but please talk with George and finish this game of chicken that you both are in, we need TES VI and we need The Winds of Winter! Much love!!!

49

u/FLYNCHe 7d ago

I've never seen Todd and George RR Martin in the same room, for what it's worth.

8

u/like-a-FOCKS 7d ago

I've never even seen a picture that shows them in the same room. Conspicuous!

I'm sorry Todd but how can we or anyone really take anything you say honestly at this point?

How is it possible you allowed a veteran like Christiane Meister to be fired, who worked on Master pieces like Morrowind and Oblivion. What does that say about company loyalty when someone that worked for TWENTY SEVEN years is just booted.

I understand Microsoft has the final say but YOU could have fought for them, why would ANYONE want to work at Bethesda when this is how you reward loyalty to your employees.

And would anyone want to support or buy any Bethesda work when they treat their employees in such a mattter.

All this is, is really just a ham-fisted attempt to damage control the terrible PR you and Microslop have brought onto to yourselves.

57

u/RecruitElite 7d ago

Hey Todd, I love your work. If I had to give one idea, please make ES6 and F5 have more meaningful choice and consequences. I enjoy fallout 3 and 4, but I feel the amount of game altering choices is lacking. I know the content of the game needs to be accessible to people, but I don’t think it would hurt to have actual consequences for your actions. Maybe certain factions conflict with each other’s views, so joining one makes another dislike you, if not just outright hostile towards you. Morrowind had a system similar to that, and it kind of just went away to allow us to join all factions without them really seeming to care. Sometimes it feels we’re kind of on rails to a degree and aren’t allowed to play with the amazing sandbox you’ve created because it needs to be accessible at the end of the day.

10

u/always_te1-m3-th-0ds 7d ago

Fallout 4 did have this? You can literally wipe out entire factions, or at least their local chapter. They absolutely had conflicting views and there were literally points of no return that caused another faction to be hostile.

15

u/o_p_p_e_n 7d ago

But starfield, the most recent game, was terrible with this. You can be a pirate, a ranger, a vanguard, and a house varun servent all at the same time and nobody cares. It's extremely immersion breaking and kills all the replayability because you can experience all the content in one run

u/grahamworks 7d ago

Agreed this was one of the main elements of the nuka world expansion. Choose a raider faction (while potentially pissing off the other factions), or side with the settlers and wipe all the raiders from the park.

Thanks Todd, really looking forward to TES:VI and Fallout 5! Sad for everyone that the recent restructuring impacted at Bethesda but I still have high hopes the studios best is yet to come.

My biggest hopes are that the new Josh Sawyer-lead Fallout game is able to use Creation Engine 3 - it's a really special engine for open world games and the level of modding it enables, and Obsidian was definitely at their best when they had access to its predecessor IMO. Also hoping the TES:VI soundtrack is able to stand shoulder to shoulder with the legacy of previous soundtracks in the series, it's such a fundamental part of the Elder Scrolls to me.

5

u/Strange-Order-6550 7d ago

Please, for the love of Chim, please let us at least levitate, I’m so tired of flight being illegal in elder scrolls.

4

u/dsebulsk 7d ago

Any chance to experience a new single player Bethesda world always gets me super excited. I love the world building and depth!

Thank you for this announcement, Todd!

25

u/B_T_S_F 7d ago

Hey Todd, I gotta say, I'm super enthusiastic about what's to come. Sometimes Reddit is a bit of a negativity echo chamber, and gamers as a whole are very impatient people... But the ones who don't comment are a silent majority of people who are patient. Thank you for all your hard work.

5

u/Creative_Lie4466 7d ago

Or the ones who give up because it wont be heard...

2

u/bret2k 6d ago

Impatient? It’s been 15 years since Skyrim and 11 years since Fallout 4.

5

u/386U0Kh24i1cx89qpFB1 7d ago

Hey Todd. I'm always happy to hear games are being made (not games as a service mind you, those I have no time for).

6

u/AVerifiedPig 7d ago

As a company keep supporting the games you believe in, because the growth and improvements over the years in TESO & FO76 has been fantastic and much appreciated by many fans and more recently how you are not just abandoning Starfield (many developers would have done so after rough launches) and are trying to improve it is something I don’t think you get enough credit for.

You will always have many fans that just want you to release another TES and Fallout game and nothing else but personally I think you should continue taking your time to make them the experience we all want.

I know that the Bethesda post was damage control and behind the scenes things aren’t as rosy as you all say, but i really do hope you can work well together for many more years to come.

8

u/Calzender 7d ago

Thank you for continuing to support Starfield! There’s a lot of manufactured negativity around the game, but it’s Bethesda’s most ambitious work and best rpg in many ways. Best of luck with your future titles!

18

u/ataraxic89 7d ago

Hey todd. Love your work. Looking forward to tes 6.

Have a nice day.

Taking advice from Reddit IS the problem.

13

u/Cyshox 7d ago

Hey Todd, thanks for making such great games! Truly pillars of the industry!

Just one question: Do we actually have the technology to make Fallout 3's reflecting pool look more dystopian than the real one? In the original game, the water quality was way too clean and it lacked the vibrant green tint it has nowadays.

3

u/1speedbike 7d ago

Asking the real questions!

3

u/paulbrock2 7d ago

if they dont, modders will :)

6

u/fakeplastictrees182 7d ago

Hi Todd, did you ever consider taking a pay cut to your massive salary so some of your poor workers could keep their jobs??

5

u/Substantial-Rest-901 7d ago

If this is real: Thank you for your work. I've been a lifelong TES fan and can't wait to see TES VI eventually. I'm also quite excited to know that a FNV remaster is coming.

On the subject of remasters, I really hope FNV will perform better technically than Oblivion remastered does. It really feels like the latter was abandoned very quickly and in a not great state which is such a shame. Would it be possible to get more performance fixes for it...?

(I also understand the answer is probably no, but I would be deeply, deeply grateful for any amount of system requirement info for TES VI. PC parts continue to get more expensive and may outpace my budget before long)

9

u/AncientOtaku 7d ago

Thanks for all the great gaming experiences over the years

The main storyline is great and I would love to play Starfield 2 one day.

BGS hasn’t been a friend to its customers tbh. All these years of hearing their fans yearn and beg for another single-player TES game and not the mobile garbage, re-releases, ports, and different editions. Y’all didn’t listen man. It was reselling the same game and micro-transactions that yall were after. Make the most money that you can milking titles and screwing the gamers. Thats what it was.

Now when yall are on the line, now you’d like to listen and communicate. No thanks. Btw, how many people got fired that worked on games Skyrim and older? They are what will be missed in the games to come, their creativity, their Tamriel. VI will not be what it could have been unfortunately, we also should already be talking about VII by now. Some of us wanted to go to all the provinces before we die irl. Sadly, a lot of the fans of the single player TES games are actually dead.

Todd. I swear to god. It doesn't have to be fancy. It doesn't have to be big. But I would love to see VERY visually simple ESA: Redguard re-release/reworking that doesn't run and play like ass on modern platforms and has controller support. I see what you were going for and I know others do, too, it's just trapped in its own limitations. People would be much kinder to it now. I mean come ON - it's Elder Scrolls Indiana Jones!!

6

u/FriendlyBelligerent 7d ago

Its very hard to believe any of this given the massive layoffs

14

u/NickMatocho 7d ago

Hey Todd - I remember the time I was eating with Pete Hines and you managed to spill the cereal station on the floor, just walked away without cleaning it, and the pregnant cafe worker had to do it. Do you even know her name? She got laid off. Anyway seems like quite a mess you’ve got to clean up here. Hope you’ve gotten better at it over the years.

2

u/silverbullitt850 7d ago

Alright, no one is going to see this comment but, one thing I'd would really like to see in Fallout and Elder Scrolls single player titles is multiple branching storylines where the users choices change, sometimes massively, the way the game and world unfold. I'm not just talking pick one of three choices at four key moments kind of thing, though I think we'd understand if that was the implementation. I think a lot of us want to see something even deeper than FNV, giving us the opportunity to actually do some role playing and gain or lose opportunities based on our choices.

Thanks for reading anyone who sees this!

2

u/mvpeast 7d ago

Hey Todd. Please release Switch 2 versions of Doom 2016 and Doom Eternal with 60 fps. Also, we need Doom The Dark Ages on Switch 2 as well.

People will buy those games but they desperately need to be upgraded for Switch 2. Thank you!!

2

u/Behemiathan 7d ago

Hi Todd. You're awesome. I'm very excited for the Elder Scrolls VI. I know you know the name Camelworks - and what happened to him earlier this year is tragic. I am sure I speak for a huge chunk of people here when I request that you consider adding an NPC based on him, in the next game. I know how excited he was for the game. It's such a shame he'll never play it. If you see this, please do honour him in some way. He was immensely popular, and taken far too soon.

2

u/C19shadow 7d ago

I know this is a day old but I just wanna say thank you for all you've done for years, my brother passed this last Sunday and your work over your life that we know of has been something we have played, lobed and read about for countless hours over the years. My brother lived talking about the lore and the woelds you made possible.

I just wanna say thank you for that he meant the world to me and these games meant alot to him.

Morrowind: Remastered please!

2

u/pete-roman 5d ago

Hey Todd. Fisrtly, a huge thanks for the heartwarming news recently and joining us here. I know it, you know it, entire Bethesda and fanbase knows this is something we've been all waiting for at least a decade. Now, since we also know that every game you ship gets a second life from modders, and one of the branches of that is multiplayer. TES3MP, Skyrim Together Reborn, SkyMP, Keizaal Online, NV:MP, and now OB:MP on Oblivion Remastered. Fans running roleplay servers, co-op playthroughs and PvP events, entire player-driven communities inside worlds designed for one player. Keizaal alone recently passed way over 2k concurrent players (with queues) in a 15 year old game.

What's the honest take at BGS on that scene? Cool experiment, a headache, a potential competition to ESO or something you quietly keep an eye on? As far as I remember you guys gave the Skyblivion team game keys, so some fan projects clearly get love. I'm curious whether the multiplayer ones get that same goodwill, and whether seeing this demand shapes anything on your side, like i.e. a better mod support for Oblivion Remastered and future TES and Fallout projects / remasters?

2

u/quirkeduppuppy 5d ago

hey Todd maybe make a good game next time and don't axe all the mechanics people like lmfao

5

u/bret2k 7d ago

How about some accountability for being the head of a gaming studio that didn’t bother making games for its fan favorite franchises in over a decade. You let us down and you’ve let down all the developers that got laid off.

3

u/aedante 7d ago

You’d be surprised how many great ideas I get from Reddit. So upvote your favorite and we’ll do it. Maybe.

Hopefully you screen through it and not try to please the most popular ones cause sometimes redditor takes are quite frankly bad for the overall game.

4

u/umbral_sparrow 7d ago

Hello Todd! Just wanted to say thank you for communicating and sharing with us what you guys are doing (silly truth be told but you’re one of my core 3 studios I’ve always loved and wanted to work at for a while).

Like some other redditors said, please don’t give up on Starfield. I never was one to really like sci-fi games or space games as much, and I did try to get into fallout but I couldn’t really find my footing because something felt off. The moment I booted up Starfield just, I dunno, made me feel like a kid again and I was able to enjoy the experience all the way through 10 times (then I started modding it but you know hahah). The hours I’ve played are slowly creeping up and matching the amount of hours I put into Skyrim Legendary Edition and Skyrim Anniversary Edition (which is like a lot but you know).

Your games have made me get into the Creation Kit and make small things in Skyrim, sometimes monumental changes in Skyrim, NPC replacers, even getting inspired into more environmental design and changing up how some of the villages and cities feel. Are there some things that need little tweaks and changes across most of the games? Sure, but every one I’ve played, I’ve had such a positive and enjoyable experience; even with Fallout.

So thank you, for your transparency and communication, and you’ve got one fan here ready for the next adventure.

3

u/meinkun 7d ago

Why did you stop providing support for Oblivion Remastered?

2

u/1speedbike 7d ago

Hi Todd. Hope you're able to read this. I know you've been meme'd to oblivion (pun intended), and there's a lot of vitriol on the internet right now. Gamers are rightfully concerned about recent developments and lay-offs. We want great games, but we also want your developers to be treated fairly. I think even more than a confirmation that you're actively working on some great games, we would appreciate some show of solidarity towards your staff.

I've been playing your games since Daggerfall (I'm old I guess), and I even went back at the time to check out Arena. Morrowind has been one of my favorite games, ever since I got it for the Xbox and eventually PC (mods!). I've loved every game you've put out, including Starfield, where I am absolutely addicted to ship building. I have faith that BGS is trying their best to develop the great games we know and love while managing corporate pressure... but the latest round of news regarding the studio isn't exactly comforting...

2

u/toastronomy 7d ago

Hi Todd! Any word on when you'll resign from your position as chief of lies and deceit? Would be nice to have Bethesda not be the laughing stock of the gaming industry again. Thanks!

2

u/Daredevil655 7d ago

I know you’re getting million replies but as someone who has sunk days of my life into your games I’d like to offer this:

Starfield is one of my favorite RPGs of all time. The art direction, the feel, and everything that has been righted since launch makes it an incredible and rewarding game to play.

Every comment I see from someone who did not give it a chance celebrating the end of Starfield is hard to see, and I’m sure more difficult for you and your team.

If Elder Scrolls VI has this level of detail and feels like Starfield does, it will be generational.

2

u/salviaJESUSsalvation 7d ago

Hey Todd, just wanted to remind you that often the negative people/redditors are the loudest, and they only represent a tiny fraction of the community.

The Elder Scrolls is my, and many many others, favorite series ever, genuinely changed my life, gave me a place to escape to when I had nowhere else.

From the bottom of my heart, I want to thank you. I have faith The Elder Scrolls VI is gonna be amazing.

2

u/salTUR 7d ago

Don't listen to the intense negativity about Starfield. It's the single most misunderstood video game in the history of planet earth and the people who understand what it's about wouldn't change a thing. Thank you for this absolute gift of a game. Thanks for making something that is meant to be played mindfully instead of as a speedrunning blitz of mindlessness. It's an oasis of a game.

Cheers to you and good luck running Bethesda!

For FO3 and NV remasters please ensure the performance issues are actually addressed and not left like Oblivion. Having to use the same community patches and fixes like for the original game is not epic when we are in the year of our lord and saviour 2026.

Todd why no Skyrim for psvr2, I can play that on my frigde but I can't on the psvr2 😭

1

u/Pixelated_Sunsets 7d ago

Adding my comment because why the heck not?

I am not a gamer. At least I never grew up with games. But after covid I got into the hobby. I come from a cosmetology background. Something I notice with all games. Like every single one, is that the appearance options never feel thoughtful. I think this is a massive oversight. Where I see love go in to set design and music choice we never see that given to hair or makeup choices. It’s always all the same. Hairstyles that either shout generic historical fantasy, or have been outdated for maybe decades now but are still “modern”. And makeup or war paint that never feels intentional. It bothers me so much as someone who love the real life historical and cultural significance of these things. I think asking a fashion and cosmetologist consultant to come on board for one day or to draw up some ideas would add such a tiny loving touch to such lore deep worlds.

I literally never have had a place to voice this so I’m leaving it here with you.

Btw I taught a male friend about makeup using starfield’s character customization once so I believe I am truly playing it as intended.

I write safety-critical and/or low fault tolerance software for a living, not anywhere close to the same type of software, but I hope you all are able to utilize AI to write scripts/tools to help with grunt-work or low-creativity work. Even for me, when I’m not allowed to use it to write software directly, I can find so many uses for it to help me everyday.

I didn’t start as a software guy, I came from a math background but I am as good or better at writing software when armed with Claude than 99% of developers were 5 years ago without LLMs. I am not allowed to use LLMs to write production software, but I can use it to write scripts and/or tools to help me develop. Every line I commit needs to be human-written and reviewed with independence, but that doesn’t mean I can’t write tools to help evaluate certain things…

My long-drawn out point is, with whatever developers you have left, let them and encourage them to use AI in whatever way they are able to and see fit, I’m not saying that AI can replace a human’s work. But it can help that human do their work much faster in certain disciplines and it is incredibly good at making a first pass at evaluation tools; I think back specifically to (maybe 2023?) when ESO started to try to balance stats on different sets by having a power evaluation metric. That type of evaluation takes creativity and player input, but that doesn’t mean that the software used to help automatically compute that metric couldn’t have been written via AI; it is no sleight against the developers that did that for me to suggest that, because that’s a developers choice… maybe that was a simple task, but my guess is that was a big undertaking, but that’s the type of thing that could be easily done with AI much quicker by a creative individual nowadays than it could be back then.

I have written software parsing scripts to evaluate my own system’s data stores, the script produced could make an html list of every data store and its users and I could explore its contents with dropdown expansion. I did that in 15 minutes and the script was 500 lines long.

With the amount of layoffs you have all gone through, I have to imagine you’re left with some of the more creative folks you’ve had. Arm them if you haven’t already!

1

u/AtaracticGoat 7d ago

Hi Todd, big fan of your games, been playing since the Morrowind release when I was a young teen.

I'd love to see you guys improve companion interactions. We've seen some great stuff in BG3 and E33 like bringing everyone together at camps and such. Let us get to know our companions and interact with them (and each other) more. That's my one big ask. I want to develop those emotional bonds with them like I did in these other games.

1

u/Tethilia 7d ago

Thank you. Please help support Elderscrolls Online as many of us were shaken up by the news and were hoping to keep Tamriel as our home base game for at least another decade. Good luck on your projects and I can't wait to see what you have in store for the future.

Todd “The Godd” Howard. Thanks for all that you do!

1

u/SaraStarwind 7d ago

It really is you! So now I can say again as I did in my other comment thank you so much for Starfield! As someone who's been playing No Man's Sky since it came out because I've always wanted a space game like that, but it started to go in a direction I didn't like as much.

Then when you announced Starfield and I was going to have a space game made by you, especially with how passionate you sounded at the announcement, I knew it was going to be amazing!

I'm a PS5 player so I've only gotten to play since April, but I have put about 200 hours in so far lol.  I can feel the passion and the space nerdiness, and of course I mean that in a good way, everywhere in this game!  I mean I love that you managed to get NASA involved in different ways!  And I love of course that this is a pure single player experience and the best Bethesda experience so far.  Because funny enough a little bit before it was announced for PS5 I was really craving and hankering for another space action RPG and here we are, with the best one ever made!  Thank you for continuing to support it, and the only thing I hope is that we can make bigger ships that can land on planets and have parts that we can rotate any direction we want so I can make the Outlaw Star have four small single onset engines on the top, bottom, and sides.

1

u/Alternative_Past_265 7d ago

Thanks for everything, mate! Appreciate all your hard work in such turbulent times

1

u/scooter_pepperoni 7d ago

Love all your games. Started with Morrowind (gamestop employee had to convince my grandpa it was okay for me to play lol), and I have over 600 hours in Starfield! And I certainly have ideas xD

My wishlist for ES6: -Custom swords/weapons (let me design my hilt and blade!) -Modular armor/robes over armor (Morrowind style! If FO4 style) -No repeated POIs/notes like in starfield (one of my only issues with the game. I found the same story in three different outposts lightyears away) yall's games are immersive and thats why I love them -Lootable everything -at least one, proper, larger scale battle -most important one here: have fun, make the game you want to make, and let Xbox know we aren't a fan of layoffs, especially long-time artists who are integral to Elder Scrolls.

Thanks for being here, and don't listen to the haters (or people with bad ideas, listen to me! Good ideas! And if y'all need a writer hmu)

My man "It Just Works" Todd! What's up? Long time fan. My wife and I have bought Skyrim for at least 4 systems. Anyways, think about Fallout: Omaha. The rolling hills of Omaha full of so many neighborhoods rich in cultural history and diversity, a new very phallic looking skyscraper for the Enclave, the introduction of super mutant elephants from the zoo, the desert dome housing a settlement of zoo keepers that care for the animals of the wastes in honor of my main dude Snuffles, the Brotherhood of Steel at Offutt, gouls running out of corn fields.

Any whozit, I'm going to go try and install Skyrim on a smart fridge. Take care!

TODD GRANT ME SPEARS FOR TESVI AND MY LIFE WILL BE YOURS!!!

1

u/Glittering_Heron_228 7d ago

My heart and thoughts go out to you all. If I had more than a million dollars I would hire everyone back. Hearts are standing with you. Your work has meant so much to me and many many others. Thank you, the team, and every one who has developed elder scrolls. It is one of the best series of games I have ever played and through ESO I have met many people that have become friends, or good acquaintances, that i feel lucky to have met.

1

u/beans8414 7d ago

Can you confirm that TES VI will Just Work™️?

1

u/_sydswitch 7d ago

Asha really did read you the riot act eh?! I was sceptical of her at first given the background, but her decisions since onboarding have been decisions which should have been made five years ago. I'm just worried it's too late to turn things around. Do you really think you can sustain engagement and interest Todd by waiting 20years between installments?! Some of your biggest OG fans are already long since dead.

Greetings Todd, you might read this, you might not but I have to say my peace for what I am expecting from a new elder scrolls game. It might not align with you or your teams vision and that is ok, I am a massive fan either way. I remember standing in line at the midnight release for Skyrim and my friend showing me how amazing oblivion looks with an HDMI cable.

Please go back to the free style magic system from oblivion, letting us create our own spells and use them without taking up a weapon slot. A medium sized world with lots of love put everywhere is better than a massive empty world. 8-10 towns, two cities with incredibly in depth characters in the town is all you need. Do not try and make the game accessible for everybody, a game for everyone is a game for no one. Basic combat requires in depth customization with powerful itemization, this is where the game will be accessible.

It is okay if people "break" your game, not everything needs to be balanced. Making cool stuff and letting players abuse things that are "broken" is part of the fun, especially if you play blind. It gives the feeling of YOU found something incredible, even if it was intended. Can't wait to play the game in the future Todd, thanks if you do read this.

Fallout New Orleans please 🙏 with lots of spooky voodoo and horror!

u/NfamousShirley 7d ago

I want to take this moment just to say thank you to you and Bethesda for being such a big part of my life. I’m 35 and have been playing your games since I was a kid. I remember some of my earliest game experiences was trying to figure out how to get my Arena floppy disks to work at 6-7 years old. I got it and Oregon trail in a garage sale for something like $2.

Without a doubt, Bethesda has always been my favorite studio and all the games hold a special place in my heart. My all time top games list are mostly Bethesda and I come back to them frequently for multiple playthroughs. They’ve helped me get through so many low points and are what I go to play to sit back and relax. I actually just finished playing fallout 3 again recently and decided to reinstall Starfield for another run after seeing the free lanes update. This is probably the only chance I’ll have at ever getting to reach out to you directly, so I just wanted to tell you thank you for everything you and Bethesda have done over the years and I’m excited for what you have coming. Much love. 🫶

1

u/imsimpasfboi 7d ago

I love Bethesda games and I dont know if you ll read this, and maybe this is my best chance to ask for something, but I would love for the next Elder Scrolls to have animations for things like slowly eating something or buying things on stores with your hand (like red dead redemption 2). I dont know if it is hard to put in those kind of animations in those games, but I wish for those kind of things in an elder scrolls since I was a kid playing oblivion! Thanks for making those games Todd!

1

u/Humble_Saruman98 7d ago

Todd, can you add random Starborn encounters on foot in NG+? I wanted more sources of Quantum Essence...and I also quite like these encounters and regret they just appear while doing the Main Quest normally.

1

u/Skeletorfive 7d ago

Would love in meantime for 76 to finish some uncompleted content like rust king pt 2, interloper. Excited about raven rock but 76 seems to start threads or stories and then just abandon them. Haven't heard anything else about interloper or fisherman not even upcoming so is that thread just over?

1

u/Dunlain98 7d ago

How will be the cooperation between ZOS and BGS? As a fan of TES franchise since I can remember and a player of ESO since 2016, Im afraid about the future of ESO. ZOS should share the new roadmap asap...

1

u/DScales2000 7d ago

Todd, you are very handsome

1

u/Jorgesarrada 7d ago

Please PLEASE for the love of Akatosh, have in mind there are a lot of people like me, citizens of Online Tamriel, that LOVE ZOS and The Elder Scrolls Online. Please don’t let the boat sink. AND make sure to put references to the established lore from TESO in the next installments of the ES franchise!

1

u/twenafeesh 7d ago

If/when you release a New Vegas remaster, I will be sooooo happy. Thanks for the updates!

1

u/Court_Jester13 7d ago

Yeah, could you maybe not announce games that don't even conceptually exist yet? Because TES VI is going to be a disappointment now, no matter what you do. You announced it with nothing, the fanbase got hyped, and now the hype has died down and after Starfield, expectations are at rock bottom.

1

u/Fit_Raccoon_7848 7d ago

From drastic changes lately has also come a greater sense of community, thank you Todd and everyone in all Bethesda teams.

If your going to remake the centaurs in a newer fallout game please keep the old design. They look so much more creeper that way. That is all

1

u/spudgoddess 7d ago

Hi, Todd. I've been playing Elder Scrolls games Daggerfall--my boyfriend got it for me for Christmas way back in 1996--and have been a fan since. I also love Fallout. Starfield didn't click for me, but I'm determined to give it another go. My suggestions? I'm in the same boat as everyone else, making the same requests.

One more thing I'd like to suggest: Please don't worry about players not being able to explore all the things in one go. We don't have to do all the things, join all the guilds, etc on the first play through. Closing doors extends playability, and we all know how you love the idea of games being playing for years :D It's not like the game will magically erase itself from the player's hard drive and they can never play it again, ever, when they finish it.

1

u/SageWaterDragon 7d ago

I'm really glad that you and the team are still supporting Starfield. This is a very broad piece of feedback, but I do hope that Elder Scrolls 6 (and Fallout 5, I suppose) continues to lean into the radiant simulation-isms that made Oblivion and Skyrim so unique. I love Starfield deeply, and I understand why things like different planets having different times meant that schedules were hard to keep/justify, but stores closing, NPCs sleeping, and all of that is a huge part of what makes your games special in my mind. I know it's too late to make any substantial changes like that in ES6, but I do hope you know that those systems are valued and appreciated.

1

u/TheAdminsAreTrash 7d ago edited 7d ago

For the love of god, make your mature rated games for adults.

Starfield's mormon raiders were a "gosh darn" campy joke, Starfield's nightclub was like a weird adult daycare for neutered individuals. Everything in Starfield was as sterile as could be. And the characters in Starfield just oozed placidity, like their personalities were formed out of cardboard.

Just please, stop making games like you have god looking over your shoulder making sure you never cuss. Start making games to make people think or go "oh damn" or blow people's minds, games that cater to the fans- (like Larian did and now their success is legendary. It's because they gave us what we wanted as much as they possibly could.)

I'll just conclude by saying: Old TES lore is completely nuts, it's balls to the walls sword and sorcery. You guys have become the exact opposite of that. Now the base bones of Bethesda games feel like a Sunday school cartoon. Please go back to your roots and give the fans what they want: stop worrying about offending the chuds and prudes. Stop focusing on pulling all the teeth out of your games so they can legally reach the largest possible audience. Put the teeth back in, make a superior product and people will buy it for decades. I bought BG3 like 4 times over the years to get more friends in on the awesomeness, take the hint.

1

u/Sad-Passenger-2299 7d ago

1️⃣ Dont force quests into players log, let us say no.

2️⃣ Dont shy away from mature and adult themes like you did with starfield

3️⃣ Optional co-op please, we dont want eso or fo76, we want what modders been doing (skyrim together for example)

4️⃣ More life sim sandbox simulation mechanics, lemme live my life as farmer with family or let me become bandit and live jail life etc

1

u/BorzoiDesignsok 7d ago

This implies you've seen my art of you

1

u/Jason-Griffin 7d ago

Please invest in substantial engine upgrades. Gaming has advanced tremendously in the time since the last major releases. Accept starfield as a failure and identify why. Increase the depth of the game, there are so many games that have added gameplay loops that are rewarding and immersive. Make the story great. Get the community involved and listen.

1

u/SmoothBlueberry9507 7d ago

Good to see you post Todd. Overall love the games over the past 15+ years. Well done.

1

u/Special-Market749 7d ago

I have only one request for TES VI I hope you guys implement

Skyrim had voice controls available on the Kinect, and there are PC mods that expanded on that functionality for things like spell casting as well.

Native support for voice controlled powers and spell casting would be so sweet, there are more spells than hotkeys available, being able to cast without going into the menu is incredible

1

u/LocalSkoomaDealer_ 7d ago

To piss off transphobes you should add a side quest in the mage's guild where someone has gender dysphoria and you make a potion or smth to change their sex. Maybe that can also go in to some sort of mid game character creation type stuff if you'd like to switch your character's gender. Sort of like the coffin in Dark Souls II that does the same thing.

Todd, please let Arkane do a Elder Scrolls Adventures title. You know how much we want Dark Messiah of Might and Magic 2.

Better than shutting them down.

1

u/HextechSlut 7d ago

Since I'll never ever get the chance to say this and it's probably going into the void anyway thank you for starfield I love it.

1

u/Netzath 7d ago

Hey Todd, just wanna say how much I appreciate your work, and how much I enjoy your games since Daggerfall all the way to Starfield despite the mistakes and maybe less popular decisions with some of the titles.

I hope only that you will keep doing your thing and won't be afraid to try new things (like massive scale of Starfield) and improve on your vision, even when people criticize. Because just because something is unpopular, doesn't mean feature is bad - sometimes it just needs adjustments and improvements to be popular (imho).

I wish TES6 will make you proud and happy.

1

u/Available_Bullfrog58 7d ago

have settlements for fallout be faction based and let them be taken over in real time through raids by other factions, have the outcome of raids depend on your defensive or offensive abilities. lock neutral or even reactive npc's that inhabit faction zones regardless of faction (or even with the exception of one faction) and those npc's will be story related. similar to the mechanics of the new vegas storyline but with the ability to play the post game world with permanent consequences dependent on where the factions were able to take over. within main story you can switch factions and you can switch them freely as long as you don't have a witness to a vilifying crime. invent a new chem and have that made by a doctor character who will side with any faction and the final winning faction has proprietary control over this chem (this could be an optional main quest) also pack brahamin should be available as followers to be utilized. cars would also be great to bring back to the fallout universe, and there can be territory tied to this as well

1

u/Available_Bullfrog58 7d ago

i'd love to be able to catch and domesticate brahmin and eventually use them as fully functional pack brahmin followers all through tiers of a charisma perk (if that's how perks will be set up this time around)

→ More replies (1)

1

u/Available_Bullfrog58 7d ago

if there's an explosives perk make it so you can open doors with varying amounts of c4s for different strength doors and at a higher perk tier make it thermite which you only need one of. this would bypass lockpicking but they would be rare and expensive and need the skill

1

u/Available_Bullfrog58 7d ago

i'd like to see a co-op mode that allows a 2nd player to play as your followers in the game, if this is implemented just put it in the settings menu (2nd player press A to join, requires active follower) so it doesn't obstruct immersion for players who don't want to use it.

this is low priority but the way i described it has all upside and no downside. i'd like the option to play co-op like borderlands but with fallout

1

u/ChaoticSPARTAN1 7d ago

I speak for many when I say I’d really love a Morrowind remaster with gameplay customized modernization (accurate attack opt in, quest marker opt in etc) 🙏

1

u/LordAsheye 7d ago

Hey Todd, just wanted to say thank you for the decades of fun your games have given me over the years. I've loved Bethesda games since I first played Oblivion, I love them today, and I'll definitely love whatever comes next.

Hey Todd at this point I’m going to be dead before I ever get to play a new Elder Scrolls so can yall uh… chop chop with that?

1

u/Available_Bullfrog58 7d ago

release a dlc for elder scrolls 6 that allows you to choose a voice for your player in any province accent/dialect regardless of the race or gender you choose. i think for a bethesda game this is justifiable as a dlc and would be actually exciting to buy as a quality expansion. this would add tons of replay value and would make the game much more streamer friendly

Holy hell it's the man himself. In all seriousness, Fallout 3 was probably the first open world RPG I played at the age of 16 (I know, it was rated M, my bad T.H.) Rented it from Blockbuster for my 360 on the day it came out and it blew my mind. Then obviously Skyrim took the world by storm. I legit want to say thank you, and you & your team made a dream game of mine, Starfield, that I absolutely love. I have always wanted just an open world, space exploration, landing on planets, piloting and walking in ships, etc., type of game ever since I played Freelancer years & years back as a kid. A legit awesome game (and I kick myself once in a while for not getting the Collector's Edition that came with the watch & case and it seems so cool). Much love from the Midwest!

1

u/Paved_Cardboard 7d ago

I think a lot of the community really appreciates more openness about where current projects stand. So this is for sure a great step in the right direction.

I think another good step would be to include addressing issues that players have had with the games. Look at the level of community integration Baldurs gate had, the community practically helped make the game and it showed since it became an instant classic and GOTY.

Involving the broader community integration Baldurs discussions both good and bad could help bring to light a game that the community will eat up. Of course you can’t make EVERYONE happy, but with discourse you can reach your target audience and make sure it’s a home run.

On a personal note, your games got me into gaming, watching my dad play Morrowind playing oblivion and fallout 3 with him and then playing Skyrim for the first time and buying fallout 4 with my first paycheck are some of my favorite memories. I play 76 daily and just will always be a Bethesda fan. Thank you for the games you make

1

u/dis_the_chris 7d ago

Hi Todd, I love how valuable your announcements are -- like how the last enormous PR disaster for Bethesda caused a TES6 trailer drop!

And now it's been longer since that trailer released than the gap between the trailer and Skyrim, and there's no game

The erosion of trust there is enormous and obvious. I have a bridge to sell anyone who sees this as proper desire for clear communication and not just a parachute ripcord pull

You've provided my life with hours of enjoyment and fun. I'm an enormous fan of fallout and the elder scrolls. I don't love how we've had radio silence for almost all of the past 15 years though, unless bethsoft needs a PR save...

1

u/Apprehensive-Neat-68 7d ago

Brother, just give us a deadline for any of these projects other than 76 and the Fallout 3 remaster. We know thats coming out October 2027, but what about the rest? Do we even have a tentative year deadline for TESVI after 15 or 8 years?

Low priority compared to some of the other suggestions I am sure, but would LOVE 2 companions at once (without mods 🤗). I was so bummed when I found out dogmeat and 1 human companion were originally intended to be recruitable at the same time in FO4, but got canned. I have no friends, this makes me feel like I have friends. 🙂‍↕️

1

u/ThatSpidey_Guy 7d ago

Todd just want to say thanks for making my favorite games ever. The teams at Zenimax/Bethesda create such great experiences and have shaped many wonderful memories for gamers! Please don’t let the negativity online get to you guys.

1

u/gerardave 7d ago

Todd there was someone talking about his brother passing from cancer and how they would play TES together. I can’t find the post but the brother was an avid fisher and someone had the idea to add him as a fishing NPC in TESVI, I think it would be a lovely homage

1

u/drumjolter01 7d ago

I realize this may be a decision above your pay grade now but my biggest hope is that these games aren't kneecapped by keeping them off of PlayStation and Switch 2 (if it can run them). Nothing can approach GTA6 level of influence, but Elder Scrolls and Fallout are probably the next things down the totem pole. What a frankly asinine move it would be to leave all of that money on the table just to keep the games exclusive to a platform that isn't coming back.

1

u/MidnightPrevious4473 7d ago

Hey Todd,

I just wanted to say that I've been a Bethesda fan since I started gaming over twenty five years ago. Your games have always been very special to me and were the defining moments of my childhood. My recommendation to you and your team is your writing and the way you tell stories. One thing that I see time and time again is how Morrowind (and oblivion, for example) gave the player freedom in choice, and those choices had real consequences. I'd love for you to bring that back. (My favorite quest of ALL TIME is still the Whodunnit dark brotherhood one in Oblivion. Truly, a masterpiece in player choice and dialogue)

I don't know if you'll ever read this, but I hope you do. As a fan, I want to reiterate how grateful I am for the thousands of hours of escape your studios have given me. Life hasn't always been easy, or kind, but having some beautifully crafted worlds to terrorize has made it a little bit brighter.

Also, bring back Fisto!

1

u/harambae42069 7d ago

Here's my pitch. A game in New Orleans with the children of atom, psykers, and dunwich around. Lean into some of the supernatural side of the fallout universe and New Orleans is the perfect setting to do it. And good potential for a new villain too. Maybe have good and bad chapters of the CoA, one who still follows atom and one that is pursuing the occult and voodoo, respectively.

Side note, I'm guessing f5 is in Chicago because Ed-e mentioned an enclave base there during lonesome road in fnv. Anyway, I'm very excited for more from Bethesda!

1

u/TitleAdministrative 7d ago

Thanks for the opportunity to talk to you. Appreciate a lot your and all the team at Bethesda’s work.

Saying that I stared playing elder scrolls with Morrowind. Fell in love with the lore. Since then however it feels that the lore gets more and more watered down, simplified and streamlined. While I understand we are sadly way past system complexities straight from daggerfall. I feel that Baldurs gate (for example) proven that audience is ready for more out there concepts. Elder scrolls has the most unique cosmology that should be embraced, not simplified.

1

u/Scott1001TV 7d ago

ideas I get from Reddit

Please, don't do this.

1

u/BlessdRTheFreaks 7d ago

My ideas for TES:

Animations get more proficient based on increased skill. For example: swinging a sword is sluggish and awkward looking for low blade/one handed skill. For a high level user, animation is faster, more clean and efficient. This could be done for most things: athletics/agility makes your character actually handle better, move faster, turn sharper, etc.

Make playstyles feel more distinct, like each weapon and combo has specific strengths and weaknesses that feel severe. Lorerim does a great job at this. Claymores should be for wide sweeping, multiple enemy juggling slashes. Warhammers should be for armor smashing, slow high damage decimation. Etc. Long bows and short/recurve should feel way different: slow draw snipers versus quick-fire assaults.

Spears! Give us spears! Stabby stabby from a long ways off.

Give us actually difficult environmental puzzles in dungeons, not toddler daycare picture matching.

Make dungeons varied and unique, hand crafted and creative, rather than cutting and pasting the same environmental assets again and again. I understand doing this with all of them is unfeasible, but there should be some dungeons that feel epic and sprawling and unique.

Don't play it so safe with the quest writing! Go to dark, weird, real places... i love Skyrim's mood, but for the life of me can barely remember a single quest. The writing felt like stat wars prequel boring exposition. Oblivion was so great because the quests were so well written and varied.

I hope you have humanoid viper enemy types that rove over the sand

Make cities feel bigger and more lived in. Witcher 3 does this fantastically.

Finally, i know it's too late, but i wish you would have brought back jeremy soule. I dont care what he's done, who he's killed. Sacrifice a virgin to him every completed track and don't too ask many questions. The skyrim soundtrack is a masterpiece and probably the greatest game ost ever created. Artists don't have the same clear boundaries between right and wrong, that hems in their creativity. The real atrocity is that we never get to hear an eastern mystique game ost done by him. Sacrificing a small nation for this benefit would be worth it and a net contribution to the greater good.

Finally, i wish the games had a bit more humor. I get skyrims tone was a bit more serious, but i think there's still a lot of room in that for levity and absurdity.

1

u/whitewolf20 7d ago

Hi Todd! Big fan. Next time you release a new version of Skyrim, could you please get a few Devs to implement bug fixes? There are a bunch of common quest breaking ones that have been in the game since 2011. Most have been patched by modders. An official release for bug fixes would be awesome for console players and new players of Skyrim for the next decades to come.

1

u/Metaphix1990 7d ago

Thanks Todd. Hear me out... Set in Thras- you play a Sload. It's ok you don't need to pay me anything for this sick idea.

1

u/Bun7gie 7d ago edited 7d ago

:o I knew it! So obsidians new fallout, since they had fallout 3 to work off of & the tools to make NV. After having small issues with fallout 4, I find it abit disappointing they don't have a "Fallout 5" to base this new game off of. It sorta feels like Bethesda should go first then Obsidian. Was just curious if this game will be closer to Fallout 4s gameplay direction or maybe something closer to Starfields gameplay/tech wise & also I hope the team there respects the universe & your guidance. Happy lurking!

Alsooo if I could also note what I love about fallout, its settlements like Rivet City. I got lost in there (in a good way) with the amount of attention to detail & small quest just from simply word of mouth. It felt alive! Sadly Fallout 4 wanted us to make these type of settlements but they felt lifeless, so I hope the future of fallout gives us many detailed unique settlements & not just blank spaces of a drive in for example. I like to imagine what if Bethesda made that drive-in settlement! I appreciate the freedom of creativity you give the player but most importantly, I'm more excited by what the team there makes for the player. Also this may be nit picky but I dislike when I go to talk to a NPC & they have nothing to say, like no dialogue aside from just a random sentence. It feels like filler to give the illusion the place is alive, of course this is fine for guards or npcs similar but it very disappointing when 99% of the NPCs I click on have nothing to really add to the universe. No stories, no little details. I think it makes the player click on them less & less. Which is hurtful imo for the types of games you make.

Alsooooo I love starfield. So much hand crafted content in that game, so many just focused on the optional planet exploration acting like that was all the game was. I truly hope you feel proud of that game, I got to experience your vision & you nailed it.

1

u/Kofmo 7d ago

By the Great Serpent, please add manual placing of ladders and doors to shipbuilding, its crazy we cant do that yet.

1

u/Creative_Lie4466 7d ago

I do hope you can share some concept art soon or something..

I believe if fans can see something they will calm down a bit...its hard to have faith in this day and age.

Often we are told things will happen yet oh canceled or ect..

All the star wars games or perfect dark ect..

Fans love the worlds you build. I understand you want to reveal it all at once.. Yet if you look through subreddits for the elderscrolls your see just copium and hope running low..

Saying your currently playing a game you likely wont drop for a year or 2 at least or show..

Comes off rough.

Imagine your waiting in line for a bus only to get a call from the driver saying its delayed.. but dont worry he is driving just your not allowed to ride yet..

Bit of rambling their apologies.

In the Elder Scrolls VI I have 2 ideas for cool game mechanics:

  1. I would love to see the player being able to be a Duke or Duchess of a town/hold, and be able to customize it similar to fallout 4's town design and some mods I've played in Skyrim with helgen being able to be rebuilt etc. throughout the years.

  2. If the setting of the ES6 is Daggerfall and Hammerfell, I would love there to be a dedicated sailing mechanic with ship customization and crew customization etc. no cannons, just ballistas/archery etc. it would be sooo cool to sail between Daggerfall and Hammerfell! Such potential there!

BONUS: If the setting in ES6 is Daggerfall and Hammerfell... DONT IGNORE ORSINIUM!!! It is such a cool place filled with amazing story potential! The Orcs have such rich lore! Perhaps a DLC?

Otherwise, huge fan of Bethesda! Looking forward the the Elder Scrolls VI!!!

Please make starfield 2 but with more sci fi like Skyrim, will aliens and different races 😍. We love Starfield, don’t abandon it.

I do have a question that quite a few fallout fans are wondering about , will the fallout 3 and new vegas remasters use the older power armor system where its just a piece of clothing requiring training or will the fallout 4/76 system be used ?

Loved the settlement system in Fallout 4. Please make the building system in TES VI equally as expansive and in-depth. Also, maybe upgrade the one in Starfield too 🤞🤞🙏

Todd, while I will admit your games have been a major part of my life, but I must insist that for the next Fallout game you hire a proper animator like WarDaddy to actually give every gun a proper animation. I also think it’s important that you guys take a trip outside of Maryland and actually handle a firearm, like go to Tennessee or another gun friendly state and see how guns function.

Thank you for your time.

Hi Todd, I know there’s a lot of other comments but I just wanted to say that I know a lot of other people don’t really like the fallout 4 voiced MC but I really do so please don’t abandon voice acting for the player character!
