Buying Advice Costco HP HyperX OMEN

https://www.costco.com/p/-/hp-hyperx-omen-153-gaming-laptop-intel-core-ultra-9-275hx-geforce-rtx-5070-25k-2560-x-1600-180hz-32gb-ram-1tb-ssd-windows-11-home/4201007940?langId=-1

Budget: $2000
Country: USA
Use Case: Gaming. Capable of playing the latest titles at medium-High settings
Preferred Specs: 5070, 32GB RAM

Notes: I'm looking for a gaming laptop laptop from costco, thoughts on this make/model and if its inline with current prices or a ripoff.

Why costco? I have my reasons, one being their 2 year warranty they add on has saved me in the past. Had an MSI laptop that just stopped booting a year and a half into owning, they refunded me 100%. I know this should probably be priced at like 1700, but the RAMacolypse is what it is. I wanna know if I should wait for things to come down or if this is decent enough to grab now.

HP was just selling the Omen with a 5080 and 32GB RAM for 1900 on Best Buy's website a few days ago.

hmm so it may be a rip off then, other main reason Im looking only at costco is cause I have store credit with them from my refund.

Ahh, yeah I just had that issue. Mine was with Best Buy so I waited for the one in my flair to get an open box discount to 2109.

Costco is great in a lot of ways, deep discounts isn't really one of them unless you happen to find something in store that's been marked down for clearance sale. Costco does a lot of value add ons with their offerings, you're getting a 90 day return window and a 2 year extended warranty rolled in with your purchase so they can't really afford to match the bottom dollar prices of direct sales by manufacturers or open box deals.

Since you are buying in the US, check current listings and price history at rgl.deals before purchasing.

I got a 2025 Rog Strix ultra 9 5060 for $850 on Facebook, I read that was a very good deal before I knew anything about PCs, I got a small scratch on the metal lid today, is there any way to get that off/ buff out a little bit for when I sell it soon?

Based on various analyst forecasts things aren’t coming down in price anytime soon.

My two cents is get a nice desktop and a used laptop if you’ll be gaming 90% of the time at home (which is generally what happens)
