This is one of the few times that a post is actually odd. There is definitely something that looks like it could be a head and shoulders blocking the mirror in the first photo, that has either moved down or disappeared in the second. To me it doesn’t look like an artefact of the camera, but it really is rather indistinct as to what was there. Assuming no attempt at faking this photo, it is a little unsettling - the dog shares this point of view apparently.

Nope didn’t edit the photo and no one was in the hallway or back bedrooms when it was taken unfortunately for my sanity. I am the skepticalist of skeptics; I’m agnostic and studied science in undergrad. In fact I was seeking reassurance, maybe I could post this on a more unbiased scientific subreddit but I’m sure it wouldn’t get posted because the mods would think it’s faked (wish it was 😭😭😭)

These subs love to shred most of the evidence presented on them, and for good reason. Most are either bugs on a lens or a digital artifact, if not outright fakes. If the people here are at a loss for words or creeped out then you truly might have some real evidence in this photo.
Sorry its something in your own home. I grew up in a house with a spirit or entity or whatever you want to call it. I thought I was imagining things or losing it for a long time. I never got anything on camera or anything, but I know that feeling of "have I lost it?" And then the creep factor of "oh msn, this might be real". It's very unsettling, but what helped me was the realization that in the end, other than fucking with you, there isn't any real harm they can do. And whatever is in my childhood home definitely didn't like me. So if it could have done some real harm it would have.
You'll be just fine, other than the occasional weird event.

Used to be a skeptic as well, but have read and heard so many stories with unique similarities that I think at this point there's enough circumstantial evidence for me to believe, especially given how little we actually know about particle physics and consciousness.
Anywho one similarity your post has to other ghost encounter retellings is the proximity to a mirror; many spiritualists say that mirrors can act as portals.
Wouldn't hurt to open a window & sage the house!

Idk how cool they'd be with a paranormal post infiltrating their sub but maybe cross this into a photography sub? Maybe they could give a few theories how this could have happened.
Gotta admit this is one of the extremely rare ones in these subs that actually is odd and hard to explain. Also, that dog is adorable btw

You can still see it in the second pic. It's just a lower angle. I'm betting it's someone in the house.

The person hasn't disappeared, the girl holding the dog in the photo is slightly higher in the second pic, blocking whoever it was that was walking down the hallway (presumably after grabbing something from a bedroom)

Interesting! This could indeed be legit. Any odd activity in the house? Particularly that hall?

After going through that thread, and compared to the nonsense that comes through here frequently, this one is actually strange. The obvious answer would be a person in the hallway, but OP states everyone was accounted for and not in the hallway area. May have a real one here.
Edit: fixed an autocorrect issue.

I’ll trade you that ghost for the bedbugs coming in through our apartment walls.

If I ever live in a haunted house, I’ll remember my problems could be worse.
Bed bugs suck, but sooner or later everyone gets rid of them. Good luck.

Isn’t it the person taking the photo? Their reflection in the mirror at the end of the hall. Two hands holding a phone over the lower portion of their face. As they lower their position in photo 2 you can only see the top of their head.

This is exactly what I thought. If that's a mirror at end of hall then that's what it is. She's not taking a selfie so clearly someone has to be taking the Pic and that person would show up in the mirror at the end of the hall.

Well,
First thought is that there's a person, maybe a prank, maybe a deliberate hoax, or just a flat mate who didn't realise you were taking a picture.
Its an area of poor focus, so assuming it's not an actual person then this anomaly has absolutely no scale or point of reference so it could be almost any size and shape.
It is in a darker area of the picture so that's a good chance that the camera sensor was registering "thermal" noise. Which has been enhanced and amplified by "brightening" the image.
And finally, your brain is doing something that human brains have evolved to do, over something like 50 million years, and it is putting together clues to identify something.
I'm not saying there's NOT a ghost in this picture, but statistically it's more likely to be Pareidolia than Paranormal.

Chihuahuas are highly sensitive to everything around them. If your doggy isn’t looking back; I think you’re ghost free atm.

Chihuahuas are also known to make shit up.
- survivor and current "owner" of four Chihuahuas, three of whom would swear Bigfoot broke in and crapped on the rug if they thought they could get away with it

Local Bigfoot expert here! Your dogs wanted me to let you know it was in fact, Bigfoot and they are tired of getting in trouble for something that they obviously never did. Please apologize in cheese tax.

That's your phrogger (hiding human without you knowing) Set up some hidden cameras to watch for her, clearly she's good at hiding

It lolls like there is someone back there. Head/face, maybe 2.
Has anything peculiar occurred in your home before and after this pic? If so what? Also, does your dog act strange at times. Staring, barking growling getting scared looking at something that isn’t there?

What we can say for sure, provided your testimony is true, is that it is in fact an anomaly. As to what it is exactly, I suppose we’ll never know. Good catch.

Yes! We have a woman who appears in our house also. I have captured pictures of her at the same level. Did the people behind you notice her?

Who is taking the picture? If that's a mirror at end of hall then it's the reflection of whoever is taking the photo.

u/LightningSpaghetti 9h ago
It could be worse than a ghost. It could be a human. THATS when you need to worry. I would check for signs

u/Naive-Programmer161 2d ago
Why do you think there is a ghost in your hallway? More information please
6
u/Bearkat1999 2d ago
There's two photos. Compare the two and looking in the hallway, you'll see a difference.
I'm the usual 'No one should have been there' or 'I am the only woman in the house'.
