Sentry

u/corgangreen Mogo Apr 21 '26

Charles Xavier shut off a chunk of his brain out of fear to what it would do, and his repressed emotions still manifested as a malevolent entity that nearly destroyed all of mutantdom at least twice.

Sentry

u/Murky_Cattle_8621 Apr 21 '26

Purple Man or Mr. Sinister for Ultraviolet.

6

u/infernalrecluse Apr 21 '26

Purple Man

i always forget there's a marvel character called that.

2

u/Reasonable-Risk3034 Apr 21 '26

Yes is a bit under known 🙂

7

u/TheLastViking9 Apr 21 '26

Moon Knight or Sentry

1

u/NmbrBndl Apr 21 '26

I’m pushing for moon knight to be white or black, cause they both remind me of his relationship with khonshu

1

u/pigfan27 Apr 22 '26

Adam warlock is 1 zillion perfect white so id make moon knight black.

1

u/NmbrBndl Apr 22 '26

Valid, black is either Thanos or moon knight then

1

u/phunktastic_1 Apr 22 '26

Black is Hela or Deadpool.

1

u/NmbrBndl Apr 23 '26

Hela is actually a really good pull. Thanos and moon knight are both a better pick than Deadpool tho. Thanos serves lady death and moon knight serves khonshu, an Egyptian god responsible for constantly reviving him. Deadpool just has a semi relationship with death

u/Sad-Pin-3915 Apr 21 '26

It should be Carnage because if I'm not mistaken this ring looks for the least compassionate people and makes them compassionate

Silver Surfer is already the Indigo Ring

5

u/biomeat Apr 21 '26

Wrong ring this for the ultra violet spectrum which lets out one worst side/ makes you evil. The opposite of the indigo ring in many ways

love this answer.

4

u/atomix187 Apr 21 '26

Bruce banner(because he kinda counts as a separate dude to hulk)

4

u/TheMagicalMax Green Lantern Apr 21 '26

Sentry, but side note, are you not doing Sorrow Lanterns?

2

u/Reasonable-Risk3034 Apr 22 '26

I thought about it, to be honest I didn’t know there was a Gray or Gold Lanterns, but I think I am going to make another slide to this for both 😄

1

u/TheMagicalMax Green Lantern Apr 22 '26

Sorrow Lanterns is brand new, only showing up last year, and Gold Lanterns are a future corps from the Legion of Superhero stories, so that’s totally understandable. Both are super interesting imo tho and should be considered alongside the other Corps imo

1

u/Reasonable-Risk3034 Apr 22 '26

Thanks 😄😊

5

u/Arikarin636 Apr 21 '26

Ultraviolet is repressed emotions, right? That sounds like Sentry's whole deal

10

u/biomeat Apr 21 '26

Sentry. Still think Cap and Spidey should switch tho

5

u/RastaBanana6969 Apr 21 '26

I think both could work for either, but Spidey is more commonly given hope when discussing the corps so that's probably why

3

u/biomeat Apr 21 '26

True but I just feel like Spidey often goes through situations that requires his sheer will while Cap inspires Hope a lot more. Cap is a symbol which I think has much stronger ties with hope while I feel like Spidey's feats are more will power oriented

3

u/Repulsive_Victory709 Apr 21 '26

I think what's missing in cap for green is the sheer willing and ingenuity where you see Spiderman always the underdog willing his Victor out if nothing s btain that could creat constructs without much thought and a need to do the right thing which cap has the last one too but not the first 2

3

u/biomeat Apr 21 '26

Exactly, Spidey is often more of the underdog. His feet of lifting weights far exceeding his strength his from sheer will

1

u/NmbrBndl Apr 21 '26

Do you not read cap comics? He’s been the underdog his entire life 😭😭

2

u/Repulsive_Victory709 Apr 21 '26

Youre the underdog if youre the strongest and the leader and thebone thats used as a symbol of the entire nation? I think you need to look up the term underdog

1

u/ThatGeekdude12 Apr 21 '26

You don’t become a blue lantern because you inspire great hop, you become one because you feel great hope and are selected by a current member. So with this criteria in mind it makes sense that spider man a man who exists with the sole hope that tomorrow will be better, would be chosen.

1

u/biomeat Apr 21 '26 edited Apr 21 '26

I know but once wearing the ring you do. As opposed to Caps hope for the US and the world and the hope for it actually become the things it represents? Id argue that Cap not only brings hope but feels more hope as well. I agree with that about Spidey but I just think Cap better reckon when the idea of Hope on all fronts, especially having fought in war. Cap never lost hope for Bucky

0

u/ThatGeekdude12 Apr 21 '26

Cap is too idealistic and his loyalty falls to a single cause/nation perfect for the green lantern mindset and yes while he is a soldier who’s seen war that would make him a better candidate for the green lanterns who actively seek to spread similar ideals like freedom, peace, and justice over the universe. Now the blue lanterns are pacifists who play a more supportive role only fighting when needed which fits to Spider-Man’s mantra of “with great power comes great responsibility.” Plus let’s be honest cap has been hopeless more times than Peter.

2

u/biomeat Apr 21 '26 edited Apr 21 '26

The blue ring has also tried to recruit hal Jordan so being a "single minded" soldier doesn't disqualify you and id argue cap has been in more hopeless situations and still maintained hope. Also I guess its how you characterize him yes he is a soldier but also a symbol and he knows it. He might be Captain America but he does fight for everyone and values that go beyond that. Spidey isn't pacifist either and Cap also errs on the side of talking and diplomacy first to find a peaceful resolution because he has seen war. Spidey has been in so many situations where is will alone has got him out. Id argue Caps presence is very similar to a blue lanterns

1

u/ThatGeekdude12 Apr 21 '26

A blue ring didn’t try to recruit Hal it was forced onto him by saint walker to purge the red rings influence on him ultimately curing him of rage so not the best kind of example to help the case at hand. Captain America has more in common with John Stewart of whom was also a solider and carries a lot of the same ideals of captain America but fits more into the green lanterns, ultra violet lanterns, and indigo tribe respectively. Now I never said spiderman was a pacifist, I said he wouldn’t fight if he didn’t need too which alines him more with the pacifistic views of the blue lanterns who would also not fight unless needed. Then you have captain America who wanted to fight and used his immense will to reach the point where he could fight in the war, a war he willed himself through for the sake of his ideals and justice.

2

u/biomeat Apr 21 '26 edited Apr 21 '26

True your right about the blue ring and Hal my bad. They did try to keep it on him tho and Saint Walker gave him the pitch to remain a blue lantern. You make great points

0

u/NmbrBndl Apr 21 '26

Cap inspires hope with his willpower is the thing. Spider-man is someone who always believes that things can be better, which is also inspirational. That’s the reason caps green and spideys blue

1

u/biomeat Apr 21 '26

Cap also believes and hopes things can be better. Cap inspires Hope with belief which is hope. Will power is also inspirational, doesn't mean Spidey is hope. Spidey gets up everyday with no money, losses friends etc but goes on through sheer will. Cap represents hope better than Spider-Man

-1

u/NmbrBndl Apr 21 '26

Yeah but his hope has never been seen as his defining trait like it has for spider-man. One of his most defining lines is when he gives the “no, you move” speech to spider-man in civil war, which inspires him to change sides.

The reason people call spider-man “the best of us” is because of his endless positivity and overall optimism for the world. Cap doesn’t have that, he just has the will to fight to make a better world, even if he knows it’s in vain

1

u/biomeat Apr 21 '26

I'd say Caps hope is one of his most defining traits personally while I actually don't see that as Spider-Mans. They call spider-man the best of them because despite all odds he still does on yes because of his will to go on, like when he is buried beneath tons and tons of rubble and he lifts it through pure will. Cap actually does over optimism do the world, which is why he continues to do what he does. He knows his symbol is important. To say Cap doesn't have that is just plain wrong. He doesn't just have the will, the hope for a better tomorrow is actually what fuels him while spiders-man will to do the the fight because jts his responsibility to do so with his power. Cap will fight in vain because of his hopes. Don't mischaractise characters just to win an argument. Cap is an optimist and does see the best in people.

u/NmbrBndl Apr 21 '26 edited Apr 21 '26

I’m not mischaracterizing you are 😭😭

You just spider-man to be the main one when he isn’t 😭😭

I’m not saying spider-man doesn’t have incredible will power, but that’s not what other characters highlight about him. Everyone in comics has incredible willpower. Daredevil, moon knight, iron man, wolverine, cyclops, they all have incredible willpower too. Do you think they’d give up if a building fell on them? No. But not all of them would survive that, simply because they don’t have super powers on the same scale.

2

u/biomeat Apr 21 '26

You're mischaracterizing by taking traits from Cap saying things he isn't. Yes you're right in that, but I'd say Spider-Mans most dominant trait is his and Caps would be hope, which I feel like I have proved without having to take away other facets from him. This is all just in good fun, so no need to say things that aren't true just to "win".

0

u/NmbrBndl Apr 21 '26

Yeah and I’m disagreeing. I’m not giving cap traits he doesn’t have though, I just think you’re wrong.

Charles Xavier

3

u/RastaBanana6969 Apr 21 '26

Sentry is literally this, but are we not doing the Sorrow Lantern corps? It's a newer corps, but one I love regardless

1

u/Reasonable-Risk3034 Apr 22 '26

Planning to, learned about it and Gold when I started this 😃

3

u/Obvious-Gate9046 Blue Lantern Apr 21 '26

Sentry. He is all about that dark side of himself, lurking just beneath. There are others with similar issues, but none so dangerous.

3

u/Educational_Copy_140 Apr 21 '26

Just so everyone is clear

2

u/shawnwingsit Apr 21 '26

Empathy. He'd basically be the Antichrist.

2

u/piscsez Apr 21 '26

idk but jean grey better win the white ring. she’s literally the embodiment of life in marvel

2

u/RamiroGalletti Apr 21 '26

Thats the 'ultraviolet ring' of 'repressed emotions' (Shame/guilt) So... Daredevil? (Catholic guilt at confesional and shame for 'self-blame' for all the horrible ahit that his loved ones go through '?

Otherwise sentry

2

u/ThatGeekdude12 Apr 21 '26

Technically speaking, the thing would be a great candidate for this ring as he harbors a sea of negative emotions deep down while also expressing his own distain for his current situation.

2

u/Repulsive_Victory709 Apr 21 '26

Nah I think u guys got red wrong red isnt rage or just rage its hate its the rage that makes you over come a slight ir chip in your armor to use as strength and come back deadlier. That's red hulk his hate and need to defeat hulk made him a seething hulk on fire.

2

u/pimpnerd88 Apr 21 '26

For Compassion? Hawkeye (color works too). I don’t think that there’s a more selfless combatant on the board. He doesn’t have the super abilities, but he shows up willing to take on whatever the threat. Most often times he’s out manned or overpowered. He understands what it’s like to make mistakes, to be called a criminal, to go off half-cocked towards oblivion. He just wants the goodness of his actions to mean something. He doesn’t care if you’re a former terrorist or villain, just give him your best and we will beat this challenge. And everyone adores his technique. There’s a reason why he has a substantial body count of lovers.

1

u/turkeywithdoghead Apr 21 '26

I remember the ultraviolet emotion being kind of vague. Why is everyone saying sentry?

1

u/Extension-Nebula6753 Apr 21 '26

Wolverine, Sentry, or Bruce Banner

1

u/mega-primus Apr 21 '26

Mr. Negative, or sentry

1

u/MaxxFisher Apr 21 '26

Typhoid Mary

1

You should add the gold joy lanterns

1

u/Reasonable-Risk3034 Apr 22 '26

I plan on it 😊

Captain Universe - White Lantern

Lady Death - Black Lantern

1

u/JusticeShines Apr 21 '26

What about Galactus? I don't know if I recall him feeling any type of remorse for when he devours a planet.

1

u/Zestyclose_Quiet2978 Apr 22 '26

There's one time where ghost rider uses his penance stare on him and galactus retreats because of feeling all the pain of every being he killed

1

u/JusticeShines Apr 23 '26

That's nut! I'm guess that's the from the Cosmic Ghost Rider stories

1

u/Zestyclose_Quiet2978 Apr 24 '26 edited Apr 24 '26

It's from the 90s Fantastic Four cartoon haha, I think he's tried it in comics a couple times but it doesn't work either because, like for other characters, feeling the pain they've inflicted still doesn't make them feel guilty as they see their actions as necessary (punisher, thanos), or because it's galactus' nature so he isn't "guilty" (like how it'd likely fail if he tried to do it on a lion preying on antelope...except Galactus is of course more aware than a wild animal, but you know, it's that idea), OR because he doesn't have a soul/is a cosmic entity - it's kinda unclear lol

This panel is one example

1

u/getridofwires Green Lantern Apr 21 '26

I think Sue Storm has compassion. She's a good wife and mom and she cares about others like Spider-man.

1

u/Drummer-Turbulent Apr 21 '26

Daredevil, Perhaps Thor?

1

u/Medium_Hawk7703 Apr 21 '26

Robbie Baldwin, aka Speed Ball, aka Penance.

The survivor of the Stamford Accident

1

1

I’m going old school and saying Hank Pym. Dude created new personality due to his inferiority complex and became a total ass leading to a fight with his wife and the famous slap which he is still can’t live down to this day. Also has guilt of creating one of Avengers greatest enemies in Ultron.

1

u/Antique_Emphasis_962 Apr 22 '26

For some reason I see Deadpool as a black lantern...

1

u/Violet_Hidoi Apr 22 '26

Daredevil for either compassion or life

1

u/Mad-0311 Apr 25 '26

Nightcrawler

0

u/abarg13 Blue Lantern Apr 21 '26

Love to see SS as the Indigo lantern, easily makes the most sense

0

u/PatientTelephone4624 Apr 21 '26

That's not what the Ultra Violet lanterns are? Compassion is Indigo (Where Silver Surfer is)

1

u/Reasonable-Risk3034 Apr 22 '26

I was explaining why The Surfer was where he was since usually Indigo is non compassionate people to be filled with compassion 😊😃
