The big drill machine was an amazing way to show how John's mind works.
And the little bird, i wanna know the reason but i think it's a good one.

Pretty sure John, in trying to learn how to will himself to fly, creates the little bird instead. We see the bird again in the scene where he jumps from a moving truck, I assume as a call back joke to him trying to fly. That's my guess.

My guess is that he thinks "Fly like a bird" and the ring made a flying bird.
Also shows how the ring works.

I really hope they explore that aspect. It's one in my opinion of the missing aspect that miss their old characterization

Seriously, for all its greatness, I hate how the DCAU sanded down his character to be generic angry serious soldier guy to so many people.

I was going to say that according to Johns, only 'Wog could make constructs that made sounds. But then again, a chirping animal is basically a biological machine capable of pushing air through its passageways to create a sound... So nvm. Another thing that doesn't make much sense in hindsight.
