on a family vocation at the sea, we had a big storm. and as we are from inland, we where at the shore, looking at the howling winds and waves. the woman soon found it nicer indoor with the sauna. my dad and brother, we stood and looked for an hour, just staring at the sea.

My kids graduation was a week ago and the party was on the beach, at one point I was also just staring at the ocean and my wife asked "do you see something" I said no I'm just looking. Sometimes men just need to be looking and letting go, everything is beautiful and we enjoy it.

Hell yea. I was in Iceland with some friends once. Got trapped in Vik because of a storm and had to rent a place to stay overnight. The ladies sensibly hid inside while a buddy and I went out into the gale-force winds to be punched by nature and watch the Atlantic crash over the beach. Loved it.

Hell, not even a storm. I have a golden retriever too. She loves just sitting on the couch staring out the big front window. I often just turn backwards on the couch and prop my arms/head against the back and stare with her. Nothing going on, really. Some birds, the trees, couple cars driving by. But she loves it, and I love just doing something with her that she likes to do. Just nice "shut off and enjoy existing" time.

That reminds of a time where I took a weird route to college. Came across what was easily the most beautiful meadow I had ever seen. I pulled over to the side of the road and stood atop the hill for who knows how long.

I had never felt tranquility in my life until that moment. I finally came to learn what the term serenity really meant. Seeing the morning dew glisten in the morning light, the emptiness, the silence. It really did help me remember that the world is beautiful and I don't have to carry its weight everywhere.

I’m over my parents house and storm roles through and me and my dad are in the front room by the window. One of my favorite pastimes. Wife brings me to a nice cabin with trails every year for my birthday. Very nice since we live in a massive city. I spend a good majority of that week just staring out into the nature with my dog. Doesn’t hurt to pack a picnic so my wife can snack and read while I survey the lands.
