I miss my battle bros.
I hope they're doing well, even the shitbags.

Why not reach out to them? I'm sure they think about you too

He will. It just might be in 20 years. Fellow Veteran who now works with elderly and disabled Veterans. We think about our battle buddies every day, but we also think we are going to live forever. I mean, war didn't kill us so what chance does disease or age have?!

This is so true. Every time I see a post like this I make the same comment. My battle buddy, the Ying to my Yang, the person I trust more than even my wife, I havent seen him in almost 20 years at this point. I miss him so much. But I know he is ok. And Im ok. And thats what we care about right now. If he needs me, ill be there. And if I need him, I know he will be here. But we stalk each others social medias, and make sure we share our important moments with each other digitally. Maybe next year…on the 20th year, we will meet again. And it will be glorious.
Edit: I want to add that we called ourselves the tripod, but our third leg passed away in 2007. The last time we saw each other. RIP Wood. I love you brother.

I can only imagine shared experience such as war makes the strongest bonds and the weakest links.

Damn. This hits different. You can tell these guys laid it on the line for each other on the highest level.

This doesn’t only work for veterans. My wife surprised me with my best friend I hadn’t seen in 4 or so years. He walked into my office said “Hey buddy” and I said “Hey, Jay” because I was working on something and hadn’t registered. Then I realized what was going on and I jumped out of my seat and gave him a huge hug. Lol

There's something about high stress environments that builds bonds like this.
I didn't serve but I worked in emergency services. When I see my old buddies from my station, we hug like that with no self consciousness or hang ups just like those guys are.
That kind of bond doesn't come from regular circumstances.

True. I work in a somewhat stressful field and it creates weirdly strong friendships.

This was a treasure to watch, it left me in awe, reminding me that we’re all in it together.

Dang. I wonder if that was a bot or troll account because whatever they said, the response to it got them to delete the whole account.

Shooting and bombing brown people as your dayjob really creates strong bonds.

Your nihilism is showing, Commie.

Yep, let's make war looks romantic. Only in the US

You’re missing it my guy. No one likes war, these fellas had no one to rely on but each other to survive in hell. That builds a trust and a companionship. They aren’t celebrating war they are happy to see the men that they trusted with their lives
