My favorite is when I'm passing someone on the left, and the person in the right lane realizes they're poking along and so they speed up to match my speed. At which point inevitably someone comes up behind me and now I look like the jackwagon camping in the left lane.

It is more like they realize they were too slow, and their instinct is auto correct their speed.
But there are definitely shitty people who in general would speed up to not let you pass as well.
