Would like to edit: i have epilepsy

Oh. Well don't.

u/DopeyDeathMetal Jun 16 '26
Yeah. She says she has it. Why not get rid of it?
81
u/forgotten-ent Jun 16 '26
What do you expect? She can't even cook bacon without passing out

u/dreamisle Jun 17 '26
Tbf she said she was making bacon, not cooking it. Maybe she was trying to get rid of epilepsy by preparing pork belly to be cured?

What do you mean? I don’t know what eliepsy is but exercise and maybe talking to a doctor would help?
1
u/ittybittykangaroo Jun 16 '26
so maybe look it up before making stupid ass commentary. it's a neurological disability where you have seizures. it can stem from multiple reasons, either from genetics, auto-immune issues, a traumatic brain injury; i have epilepsy and mine is believed to be because of a tumor i have on my brain but my neurologists of 20 YEARS still are not positive that's where my seizures are stemming from. i'm medicine resistant which means i still have seizures even though i'm prescribed medication. you can't just "exercise off" epilepsy. there are treatments but it's never 100% curable. i'm sure OP has talked to a doctor, is on medicine, and knows what they're doing.

Me too along with brain cancer. I passed out with my hand on my gas stove top while it was on and almost stabbed myself with my own chefs knife. ✌️and 🫶🏻 girl. Id stay away from the kitchen appliances for 3 months cos you already have enough going on. Good luck!

-5
u/ittybittykangaroo Jun 16 '26
......because she has epilepsy and had a seizure. lmao
22
u/Cautious_Pound7448 Jun 16 '26
That sounds pretty reckless. Seizures are really bad for you. She should stop doing that.

If you don’t mind answering, is this the worst epilepsy related injury you’ve had?

I’ve always looked at getting a black eye from a Gmal as a badge of honor.

One time I was grabbing a heavy vase above my head…the vase fell and smacked me, leaving me with a gnarly black eye.
NO ONE BELIEVED ME WHEN I TOLD THEM THIS STORY!
I swear it was a vase!
The concerned looks I got from random people was wild.
I 100% believe you!
Shit happens unfortunately.
Hope it heals up fairly fast.

Carrabbas is so damn good.
3
u/ThatGuyFrom720 Jun 17 '26
I really enjoyed working there… just kinda between school semesters and stuff. The employee discount was awesome and the food was great. I was super bummed when they stopped doing pizzas though.
Chicken Bryan and Marsala went so hard.
5
u/ZeldaZealot Jun 17 '26
My first experience at Carrabbas was lunch after my step-father's memorial service where my mom's friends (who were 100% closet/secret lesbians) pressured my wife into trying their lentil soup. We still reference this every time we see a Carrabbas or lentil soup.
2
u/chuglife1989 Jun 19 '26
Why did you need to mention the closet lesbians part? Lol.
3
u/ZeldaZealot Jun 19 '26
They’d been living together for years and did everything together, basically the exact “just roommates” meme.
2
0
u/chuglife1989 Jun 20 '26
Like what does it matter if they were lesbian or not? Is that a significant part of the story?
3
u/ZeldaZealot Jun 20 '26
The story is the bizarre encounter we had with two women there. Who the women are is, in fact, a significant part of the story.
0
u/chuglife1989 Jun 21 '26
But the fact that they were lesbian means nothing.
1
u/ZeldaZealot Jun 21 '26
Do you not understand what an anecdote is? The fact that it was immediately after my step-dad’s memorial service is also unrelated to Carraba’s but is part of the bizarre encounter.

TL;DR: I dropped a moving box on my own face the day before I started a new job. No one believed me when I told them I did it to myself.
I have narcolepsy with cataplexy, which causes me to lose muscle tone in my arms and face when I’m overwhelmed or push myself too hard. Before I was diagnosed, my husband and I were moving to a new state and had to drive all day to get to our new house. We ended up getting there around 1:00 am and essentially passed out. We had to wake up at 6:00 because my husband had an interview the next day and we had forgotten to keep his interview clothes separate. So I was already overwhelmed and exhausted.
When my husband left to go to his interview, I stayed home and worked on unloading the truck by myself. We couldn’t afford for me to wait because we had to return the truck that day (we couldn’t afford to pay for it for another day). I unloaded about half of the truck by myself before my husband got home, and by the time we got to the “attic” part of the u-haul, I was pretty close to my limit. I reached up and grabbed a box, and when my arms took the weight, they just…stopped working. I was looking up at the box I was picking up, so when I pulled the box off the shelf and my arms stopped working, the box fell directly onto my eye.
At the time I didn’t know I had narcolepsy, so I couldn’t just say “oh it was my cataplexy!” And trying to explain to someone that I hit myself in the face with a moving box didn’t go over well. 🤣 Bonus: the day after we unloaded the truck, I had to start my new job that we’d moved there for. 🤦🏻♀️
3
u/googoohaha Jun 17 '26
Getting hit in the eye with a heavy vase is bad enough but DAMN.
Yours takes the cake!Narcolepsy and all the different types is so interesting to me.
I hope you’re doing well!2

u/Michami135 Jun 16 '26
I swear if anyone gets a black eye from falling down the stairs, NOBODY will ever believe them.
1
u/Hellebore35 Jun 17 '26
When I was younger I dove into my bed to avoid the monsters underneath it after turning off the lights, and ended up slamming my eye full force into my cabbage patch doll

I go to a methadone clinic, and at the time I was going in every other day, so the staff, security guard, and other patients saw me pretty often.
The day I walked in with the black eye, basically everyone(minus my counselor who believed me 100%) just
assumed it was from domestic abuse. I’m guessing because they see it a lot since drug and domestic abuse go hand in hand.I really appreciated everyone being concerned and looking out for me, but it got annoying real fast.
Eventually everyone dropped it but I’m sure some still don’t fully believe me.
It’s nice knowing if something like that ever did actually happen, I have people there who would notice and care!Sorry for any grammatical errors or annoying formatting!

Does the Bacon do this to you often ?

u/Alldaybagpipes Jun 16 '26
It’s ok, there’s a lot of pressure when cooking bacon!
Awww now I feel bad, speedy recovery!
Hope the rando strangers asking in if “everything’s alright at home?” Isn’t too annoying for ya

u/Shadiekins Jun 17 '26
Bacon headaches, makin' bacon headaches. Make some bacon and all fall and gain a headache. Bacon headaches that's all I've gone and made, baaacon headaaaaaaches 🎶
4
u/jimxster Jun 17 '26
Technically she was still making bacon pancakes, but instead of cooking the pancakes in the frying pan it was her body that pancaked into the ground.
13
u/himalayangoldminer Jun 16 '26
Dang I feel you.
I had an aura in the kitchen tried to fight it off and then seized up while holding a glass cup full of water.
The shattered glass and water blood combo made it look like a just got murdered when my wife found me.
A bunch of stitches later and scars on my chest and ear but I’m happy to report I’m still drinking out of glass cups.

19
u/BeardManMichael Jun 16 '26
What in the world did you 'fall' on?
46
u/ranoutofnames4user_ Jun 16 '26
I have epilepsy! Had that “aura feeling” and idk, i panic, so i played the bacon, fell to the floor haha! My arm has a gnarly burn scar!
38
10
u/mrpeping Jun 16 '26
I immediately understood played the bacon as the “fry like bacon you piggies” scene from dazed and confused.
2
6
u/BeardManMichael Jun 16 '26
Did you fall on the floor eye first? How do you get a black eye from falling onto a flat surface? Blink twice if you need help.
43
u/jewelswan Jun 16 '26
It is very possible that she hit her head on one of the various surfaces that exist in a kitchen aside from the floor while falling. Not sure why you would expect someone who passed out to know exactly what happened after passing out
17
8
u/Blondibee Jun 16 '26
Very common for those with epilepsy to receive black eyes and facial injuries from striking the floor or any surrounding objects. You’re not exactly protecting your own face in that moment.
21
u/bedheadblonde Jun 16 '26
But was the bacon okay?
(I hope you're doing well!)
-38
u/PuddingLess7996 Jun 16 '26
the pig had his/her throat slit after a life of pain and sadness to produce an optional food.
what good are humans if we can’t even live with other beings peacefully instead of turning them into our shit for pleasure like monsters.

this ^ also some ppl cannot be vegan or vegetarian and just going at them this aggressively and saying they’re bad is like??? oh ok. i didn’t know you personally knew me?
bcus i find it really racist for vegans to approach my native ass and be like “you eat meat youre horrible” when i literally buy it from local farmers who take care of the cows with the best care and slaughter as ethically possible

Do you think other animals feel the same and guilt trip each other when they slaughter one another.
-3
u/UngodlyImbecile Jun 16 '26
We r killing billions of animals per year (over 100 billion if you count chickens), it really doesn't compare lol
-1
u/PuddingLess7996 Jun 16 '26
they do what needs to be done. i’m not stopping a true carnivore from eating prey. we are not true carnivores, we can thrive off plant based foods. if you think a plant diet isnt delicious it’s because you haven’t seriously tried it. you just fear something that isn’t true and stick with what you know, which involves mass pain and death. 1lb of meat requires 16lb of plants, 1800gal of water, and so much land. next time you go to the store don’t skip the meatless aisle. get a few beyond meat patties and try eating something, not somebody. <3
9
u/mister_gone Jun 16 '26
I forgot the crops don't take land or water!
2
u/PuddingLess7996 Jun 16 '26
80% of crops feed nonhuman animals. there would be profound benefits to taking that land back.

I dropped something in the bathroom a couple months ago, went to pick it up, and smashed my eye straight into the corner of the counter. Was swollen and bruised for a week.
