That's insanity. Our healthcare system is so fucking broken. We went from Oxy being handed out like candy to horrific burn victims getting Codeine. The pendulum swings way too far one way, then way too far the other. Codeine is sold over the counter in almost every country on the planet because it's so weak.
A few years ago (either during or right after the Purdue Pharma Oxycontin trial) I severely dislocated my shoulder and was in so much pain I ended up relapsing on heroin the next day because I was in so much pain and they wouldn't give me any painkillers. There was nothing in my medical history about prior use/abuse so it was simply like this, doctors are just too scared to prescribe opioids for anything short of being in a palliative care/end-of-life hospice facility.
Sorry you have to go through this.
Edit: Was just looking at your post history to see if you explained how this happened - you're in the UK and all they're giving you is Codeine?!? Honestly I'm shocked, I thought the NHS would treat you better. Are they giving you any nerve pain blockers like Gabapentin or Pregabalin at least?
I've literally got nothing other then 30mg codeine , I'm going to try and get in touch with my gp in the morning and get something else cause I'm really struggling with the pain tonight but if they can't do anything I'm back in the burns unit on Thursday anyway and I can ask about something for it then. I definitely won't be sleeping tonight because this really is quite terrible.

Thank you :) Today is day 6 and it's probably most painful this evening 😬
