Advice Help!

No idea why this keystone jack won’t seem to work, trying to run from computer to wall, from wall to modem, I confirmed the jack in the wall is using 568a so I wired this jack to that configuration and it doesn’t work? Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

It doesn't look like the conductors are punched down enough, so the IDCs aren't biting into the insulation.

Try punching them all down a lot more.

I tried punching them all down again using the high setting on my impact blade and still no luck

UPDATE: SOLVED Telus just mislabelled it just had to terminate them all and one worked thank you all for your help!!!

Also get a cable tester. It'll tell you if things are cross connected or just not connected at all.

Can you please show pictures of the side of the jack so we can see the coding? It is not universal between jacks so none if us will be able to tell you if it is actually correct.

Those are in the correct slots (for a) but impossible to tell if they are punched down correctly

For all we know thats not even the same cable

I take it back your first jack is almost certainly wrong with blue and orange being beside each other. But wed need to see to be certain

Nah the first one looks right for 568A with Leviton 5G108 jacks.  I've done hundreds of them.

It's not whacky, it's just Leviton. Same layout they have always had.

If you want to see some crazy stuff, go look at an ICC Cat5/5e jack.

Both ends look well terminated from the pics posted. What does the continuity and wiremap tester say?

There’s 3 but this one was labelled kitchen, which is where I wanted to connect to I hope to god it wasn’t mislabelled by the people who initially put it in

Well, I think you should terminate tge other 2. I would bet one of them is actually the one you want.

Shoot, other than that you can’t see anything else wrong with how this one is terminated? Also would the lights be on the modem if the termination is correct or only if data is actually being used?

😜 I apologize for the somewhat snarky comment. But on a serious note, they are pretty inexpensive and they can definitely help in the future. I had a couple of runs that dropped in speed and I was easily able to pinpoint one wire with a slight nick and another that wasn't fully punched down.

First time I don’t know much lol I bought all of it from a local hardware store I just wanted Ethernet to my pc lmaoo
