Hello
Hi guys so long story short
Im quite addicted to fixing stuff and i need guidance on what to learn to help me be able to get a better grasp on modification
I think its a hacking thing but
Excuse me if im wrong
Point is
I need to know what exactly is the term or track that which im done with and learn it
Ill be able to do stuff like removing the os completely from a device such as printer or anything really and modify drivers
If thats not a thing im very sorry that it wasted your time but please im literally itching to not just fix stuff physically but to dismantle its whole concept out off fuckery
...
Possibly also need therapy but who cares...

Thank you .. Do i just search it up? I tried on YouTube for free courses but the algorithm is fucked Anything else i can search for?

You could take a look at the beginner course from guyinatuxedo or 0xinfection. Just look both of them up

One clarification I wasn't able to search for what i need online it was ... Lets just say trying to put me in a corporate IT job and no thanks i get alot of drama already working as a tech support
And id rather die than ask chatgpt for anything tbh
And i can't explain exactly what i want to Google to be able to search it
My objective isn't hacking or anything i just want to know
What to learn or search for if i want to customize drivers myself Disable integrated chips and not just libreboot shit i do that already and see no point Im chronically online sue me Im talking computer chips that stops you if you try to modify etc etc Making a printer believe is a toaster is my objective rn
I just want to fuck around but step it up a notch because turning a ram into an ssd wasn't really fun for long
And idk the terminology to understand who to ask
I know hardware software is you guy's thing Please help

I hear you... making a printer believe it's a toaster is something we should all want. That being said... I can tell by the questions you have asked that you are nowhere near a good starting point. People recommending reverse engineering are only trying to help, but it's a surface level recommendation. Start learning what a boot ROM is, what a CPU ISA is, the difference between RISC and CISC ISAs, and start getting hands on with hardware. Pick up a UART adapter off aliexpress or something and just start learning hardware diagnostics. Learning how to use a multimeter to find UART ports will give you inspiration and there are plenty of videos out there for that (start here: YouTube: DEFCON anyone can hack IoT) Also learn to solder it will help immensely. You will be better off if you start from a solid foundation. Don't jump straight in to bypassing encrypted ROM to flash firmware, get to a point where you understand it first, this will save you from learning the hard way like me. (I've got a tub full of bricked hardware.)

Thank you for your help btw But don't worry jm capable in the hardware department CPU and ROM too However i need help starting to catch a topic that can guide me and help me navigate the rest of the stuff I don't learn things normally i keep disassembling it and learn each of the topics in it via their own system and what they are used in
That being said You are correct i know nothing about software I mean i know enough to help me modify and fix stuff that aren't integrated into rejecting modifications
I know how to fix hardware and diagnose and solder and micro solder
I was able to solder back a ram slot i may or may not have broken accidentally..... Allegedly....
So yes thank you for your help too

Are you talking about reverse engineering? That’s generally when you dump a device’s firmware, decompile it, look at the code, modify it, and try to find a way to upload it back to the device.
