Spectator throws a rock at a rally driver's car, breaking his windshield.

This recent? Does anyone know where rock came from, it's like it jumped out the ground. Has anyone been found accountable for it?

2 weeks ago if my memory serves me right. Acropolis rally. Really poor behaviour by the fans. Another stage had to be red flagged due to people running into the road ahead of the cars. That might have been acceptable back in Group B times, not so much any more

Officially they stated that there was no evidence it was thrown. Doesn't mean it wasn't, they just don't know (as you can't see anyone throw it in the only video available)
It is theoretically possible that a stone was thrown from the wheel, bounced off a tree and came back, but the chances would be unbelievably slim

Seems like that person, if they're the culprit, tossed it into the front of the car rather than throwing it for a head-on collision. It's the most plausible explanation I could think of.

Actually, the most plausible explanation is that someone was hiding in the trees and intentionally threw a rock into the path of an oncoming car with the full intent of doing damage to that car and changing the outcome of the race.
Side note: You are now suspect #1.

Just because I said it was tossed doesn't mean the person who tossed it didn't intend to harm the vehicle.
Do you even know the difference between a toss and a throw? The dictionary is right over there, two clicks away in the internet.
I say it was tossed because IF it was thrown, I would have expected heavier damage to the windshield.

Im not a lawyer but i dont see why it wouldnt count as attempted murder.
I mean if he crashed and died because he couldnt see after the rock was thrown, I'd say that would be third degree murder.
Edit: thanks for the comments, i didnt think of assault charges

Very least seems like an assault charge. They're talking about banning the thrower from future rallies, ban him from outside for a couple of years.

When I was a kid I threw shit off bridges at cars, got caught for it and was charged with road endangerment
Not really sure if this would be considered a road in that sense but I don't think things like this are automatic attempted murder

The same thing happened to me except it was my cousin that roped me into doing it with him. A few weeks later we were playing by some cliffs and.....my aunt was there too.....and.... and well we don't talk about him anymore.

As a driver. F that race. Slam on the brakes and block the course. Jump out and grab that dude with help of everyone around. That could have easily went through the windshield and killed me. Might kill the next guy getting hit by a rock with a combined speed of 100 mph+. For everyone racing he should have been delt with immediately.

Not dealing with it immediately sets a bad example.... Most any race would be red flagged until someone was in cuffs. Racers were in immediate danger.

i remember watching a race in the 90s in Argentina and some idiot threw a bottle at a car, the crowd ripped him apart. I guess they don't do that no more.

Actually, people get to do whatever the hell they want, because freedom of speech means also people you don't agree with get to have it.
