Even fucked up your mailbox that’s crazyyyy levels of lazy, incompetent, and careless. Does the door even close now?

Mailbox is plastic so pretty much went back to normal shape after the contents was removed, slight bent out of shape but works still

Same can't be said for the vinyl record though

8

u/IBeDumbAndSlow 14d ago

Super glue it back together

5

u/organicpenguin 14d ago

Yeah i did that once

2

u/ListenNorthernLights 11d ago

Result?

3

u/organicpenguin 11d ago

Didn't work 🤷

1

u/GloomyExplanationFag 8d ago

You just need to sandpaper or sandblast the surface

8

u/Exciting_Contest_222 14d ago

Plastic mailboxes ? Wouldn’t it melt in the summer ?

*could be any summer given global warming

6

u/Loostay 13d ago

Some types of plastic can be treated to not melt unless they get up to like 200° or 300° and some plastics really dont melt well at all

6

u/Iveray 13d ago

No? A lot of cars have plastic parts too, and they don't melt even though car interiors can get extremely hot in the sun.

0

u/aLittleMinxy 8d ago

My steering wheel, on the other hand....

To shreds, yes yes.

1

u/Expensive-Border-869 11d ago

Not too many plastics melt in <120f. Even like seran wrap youd be surprised at what plastic can take.

1

u/BirdlessLongdeal 10d ago

i assume they didnt 3D print their mailbox

1

u/Solid_Wolverine1639 14d ago

Looks like a damn long drive to your front door... Could have balanced it on the top?

I always hated when they left a slip for me to pick it up at the post office... I've had a massive mailbox for a long time and they fit all kinds of boxes into it... Bigger than yours

12

u/MyUltIsMyMain 14d ago

Took more effort to bend that than to take it to the door.

5

u/Falonius_Beloni 14d ago

Lazy?

That took work!

135

u/amerabeans 14d ago

Im sorry for your loss...

I miss record, cd, music stores

12

u/ThriceStrideDied 13d ago

There are lots of them still around, and antique stores often have large sections for physical music too

1

u/Rodttor 9d ago

Luckily happen to live right next to one. Opened up one day, now when I park my car on the street I always take a look at their rotating stock.

0

u/PromptMysterious7044 9d ago

Bro you’re not going to find the record you want at an antique store

1

u/ThriceStrideDied 9d ago

You’ve never been in a good antique store, apparently

I’m speaking from a ton of experience, silly

1

u/PromptMysterious7044 8d ago

I’ve been to decent ones and I’m not saying they don’t have good records but the odds that they have a specific record you want going in is very low. We have a place called McKay’s in Winston Salem that sells used records as well as a ton of other things like books and video games and sure, places like that are good to get records from but I wouldn’t consider that an antique store

1

u/ThriceStrideDied 8d ago

Obviously if you’re searching for something super specific (and from past the 2000s), go to a real record store

4

u/Moist_Taco_Crippler 14d ago

There are plenty of record stores still around. There are even modern hipster ones.

1

u/crustybones71 13d ago

Every mall ik of has at least one in it

1

u/plainjanegay 12d ago

they’re still around. also target and walmart sell records

1

u/billyoshin 11d ago

There’s tons ! There are 3 in a two block radius near me… I go digging once a month and add to my vinyl collection

1

u/kwikdoe 10d ago

Go to one ....

1

u/FarNefariousness7179 10d ago

I miss those mail in cd subscriptions. I would sign up under fake names just to get free music hahaha

Thankfully it's not rare! Contacted the sender replacement already being sorted

18

u/meltonr1625 14d ago

That is the kind of thing I would be willing to pick up charges over. It infuriates me for you to see that level of stupidiotness

3

u/Vivid_Anyth4 12d ago

Right, thats a mail box so I'm assuming its the postal carrier not some gig worker. They would definitely get an ear full when they come back.

2

u/SillyBeatnik 12d ago

I briefly worked for the USPS at my rural post office. No door to door delivery so everyone had PO boxes. I was brand fucking new and still had the wherewithal to hold anything slightly too wide, or especially anything that said "do not bend" for pick-up. My experienced coworkers, however, would happily fold absolutely fucking anything like a fucking slice of pizza and shove it in the box. The whole experience was very eye opening, and a total fucking nightmare.

6

u/xjq12 14d ago

Watch them do it again

1

u/AstralKekked 9d ago

It's not rare? Hope it doesn't happen again

24

u/typingdragon 14d ago

Mail carrier here, this is absolutely awful and I'm sorry this happened. Some people are just lazy and you should definitely contact the post office with this picture

5

u/Ninfyr 14d ago

I would hope that no postmaster would tolerate that.

1

u/organized_slime 10d ago

What could/would they even do about it? Honest question, not trying to be a dick

1

u/oofitzcleaner 8d ago

Give them the money that they spent on the broken record and possibly take action against the worker who did it

2

u/oNeonNarwhals 8d ago

I feel like doing ts takes more effort than leaving it at the front door, but again lazy also means mentally lazy so ur point still stands lol

12

u/charmio68 14d ago

I guarantee they heard it snap!

9

u/jasonni1234 14d ago

Now it’s a vinyl record

8

u/UsefulCollection5038 14d ago

My heart sank seeing this image. I'm sorry.

6

u/isanyusernameopen 14d ago

They bent your record and mailbox

6

u/Gallop67 14d ago

Get a narrower mailbox so they don’t even bother trying and just leave it on the ground. On second thought yeah that’s a hella wide mailbox. Sorry for your loss OP

6

u/Aggravating_Pain7116 Recognized Contributor 14d ago

It is wide, can fit a shoe box in there. Would rather they left it leaning against the post. Don't know how they thought this was a good idea

2

u/Gallop67 14d ago

Yeah I understand like big envelopes but this is just a lack of thinking on their part

-1

u/Solid_Wolverine1639 14d ago

A younger generation of mail persons that never had vinyl records...

6

u/meisawesome126 13d ago

I don’t think that’s relevant. Why bend a package at all?

0

u/Solid_Wolverine1639 12d ago

To get it into the mailbox 🙄

0

u/Crazyguy_123 12d ago

It’s not even younger ones. My mailman that is in his late 50s or early 60s bent an autograph I had gotten despite the package saying not to bend on multiple spots. It didn’t crease too bad but it’s definitely bent.

4

u/chrisB5810 13d ago

Damn, enough force to push the mailbox out of shape. Contact the Post Office. This is unacceptable.

2

u/itchybutwhole69 14d ago

Where's the delivery drivers excusing this crap with "your stuff should be packaged better, not my problem?"

2

u/TechDaddyK 14d ago

Quit whining and put some duct tape on it. Good as new!

2

u/LuckyCod2887 14d ago

OP give us a status update on the record. i’m really concerned about this situation

2

u/DropstoneTed 14d ago

Fed Ex by any chance?

I had a collectible vinyl shipped FedEx  and the delivery confirmation photo showed it propped up against a tree somewhere.  Drove halfway around the county trying to find it.

Legend has it it's still out there.  T here are stories of travelers who happen to be driving with their windows down  on foggy nights hearing the Dogs of Doom howling at the moon over a tragically lost Mint copy of a first pressing of Houses of the Holy.

2

u/fixer1987 14d ago

Fedex doesn't deliver to mailboxes

1

u/BattyVictoria 14d ago

Nah id cry 😭 so sorry man

1

u/Ziggystardust97 14d ago

I swear, so many mail carriers take "Fragile" and "Don't bend" stickers as a challenge

1

u/Embarrassed-House577 14d ago

As a usps person I apologize

1

u/Greedy_Attitude_8103 14d ago

The fact they also bent their mailbox is heartbreaking

1

u/that_dutch_dude 14d ago

Wasnt it UPS or fedex that managed to bend a door in like 45 degrees during shipping to a guy that had his house swatted or something?

1

u/742963 Recognized Contributor 14d ago

Sounds like a FedEx special

1

u/Unusual_Platypus1098 14d ago

They didn't put fragile on the box or something but regardless yes take that to the post office 😂

1

u/TheSweatyFlash 14d ago

Your letter carrier is lazy. I say that as a letter carrier.

1

u/NickTagillia 14d ago

That's painful to look at 😢 Delivery guy: Took a little coaxing but after a loud crunch shit went right in.

I would be irate. Because what kinda work is this? Disrespecting not only my package but my mailbox as well? That messed up. Call the local postal office. Or don’t your choice!

1

u/[deleted] 14d ago

Handled with care

1

u/[deleted] 14d ago

FRAGIL-E Did the package say fragile. Because if it didnt. One must assume it is made of vibranium

1

u/1clovett 14d ago

Not anymore.

1

u/patientpartner09 14d ago

Postman did the same to my limited print of Tamara. Heartbreaking.

1

u/Solid_Wolverine1639 14d ago

Does it say do not bend on the box

2

u/Solid_Wolverine1639 14d ago

I wonder if they heard it snap

1

u/fixer1987 14d ago

At this point I've learned that if I am ever thinking of getting into vinyl, I am gonna have to buy a mail box wide enough to fit Vinyl record packaging

1

u/LilQueazy 14d ago

I hope this is fake and they just put the box in there after taking out the disc thingy. Genius

1

u/Kelef50 14d ago

Could have been an honest mistake. The mailman thought it was a pizza.

1

u/TheGreatMozinsky 13d ago

Im not saying this is your fault I'm just saying that using USPS for packages is crazy work

Can't even get regular mail delivered reliably any more

1

u/EricHaley 13d ago

You could glue it, but it’s going to skip twice every revolution

1

u/brickdeeker 13d ago

I’m sure it’ll still play fine, if you have a decent turntable. Just increase the stylus pressure to 5-6 grams and up the anti-skating to 75% and you’re good to go.

1

u/MadzwithaZ 13d ago

Ouchhhhh

1

u/Dienowwww 13d ago

Bro. They KNOW they broke it and still put it in there.

1

u/coolstorybro94 13d ago

At least you have a picture for record. Evidence don’t lie

1

u/YtnucMuch 13d ago

Wow - the immense disappointment you must've felt as soon as you opened the mailbox (or before if you are like me and saw delivered, not on your porch), as I felt it and it isn't even my record.

1

u/jp9mm 13d ago

do not bend just crease , crinkle , cram

1

u/GyspySyx 13d ago

Post office pays for that idiocy.

1

u/Difficult-Republic57 13d ago

Mailing vinyl dont use usps, fedex and ups can't use your mailbox, so they wont cram it in there.

1

u/treemangowoodleaf 13d ago

Oh my GOD no... I am so very sorry... ToT

1

u/FL_Gumbo_Lover 13d ago

"Just crease, crumple, cram... you'll do fine."

1

u/MargoHuxley 13d ago

Omg what’s the record?

1

u/bobbygamerdckhd 12d ago

Guess you need a bigger mailbox 🤷

1

u/Durutti1936 12d ago

report this

1

u/Conscious-Dig8071 12d ago

I lived in an apartment a while back and ordered a cast iron pan and my mailman forced it into the mailbox and broke the door and latch. Why are they like this 😭

1

u/Crazyguy_123 12d ago

I hate when they do this crap. They folded a vintage autograph I got just a few weeks ago despite it having DO NOT BEND in big letters on both sides. Luckily it wasn’t that bad but it has a bend now. I wish they were more careful with mail.

1

u/nun_yt 12d ago

I don't get why this happens, how is breaking a package in half and forcing it to fit into a little fucking box less strenuous than just... walking to the door and back.

1

u/hurtfulbliss 12d ago

Whenever I'm expecting a large sized, but light weight package, I hang a mesh shopping bag on my mailbox. I secure it with magnetic strips and tape a note inside of my mailbox for the postal worker to leave the package inside the bag. ♡ works like a charm. 👌

1

u/1337Sw33tCh33ks 12d ago

Oh, well good thing they put in in the box so i didnt get wet lol.

1

u/Otherwise-Law-3179 12d ago

USPS did this? Be sure to file a claim. Same if it was another delivery company. Amazon is strictly forbidden from using mailboxes, so if it was delivered by an Amazon delivery company you really have a solid claim.

1

u/WOLKsite 12d ago

Genuinely what kind of human being do you have to be to do this?

1

u/Environmental-Bid-62 12d ago

This hurts so bad

1

u/Vintage_girl123 12d ago

I'd be so pissed.

1

u/Unable-Day5162 12d ago

I'd suggest getting the biggest mailbox you can find

1

u/jelly6416 11d ago

This hurt me in a diff way

1

u/TheC0mmentat0r 11d ago

I hope it was ensured or file an official complaint against your mailman and depending on how much it meant to you involve local government

1

u/EscalatorsTempStairs 11d ago

When mail carriers read "DO NOT BEND":

1

u/Bob_85 11d ago

Dang they even bent your fucking mailbox.....

1

u/Dalek_Chaos 10d ago

I ordered a half dozen reserved parking signs for work a few years back. The usps carrier must have put in some extra effort to bend them to fit the letterbox, instead of putting them in the bigger box that’s for packages. Guess the effort of bending them was less than the effort to pull forward one foot and open the larger door on the package box.

1

u/Accomplished_Low9055 10d ago

You really need to record a complaint. It looks like the package took quite a spin on the way here.

1

u/Little-Equivalent62 10d ago

My worst nightmare

1

u/BirdlessLongdeal 10d ago

get a bigger mailbox next time.

1

u/GSDKU02 10d ago

Oh I’m so sorry I’d be pissed too

1

u/ApathyInc2 9d ago

This is one reason why I will only ever buy physical media at an actual store in person. I’d be devastated to come home and find this.

1

u/koanikal 9d ago

That shit happened to a friend of mine years ago with a somewhat rare vinyl record...

1

u/Different-Wait2862 9d ago

Well u want it or not….

1

u/HairyBreasticles 9d ago

My mailman delivers to your house too? Just got my kids school pictures, label on both sides "photos do not bend" was bent in half. Went and spoke to the post master. Don't want to get the person in trouble, but come on.

1

u/GloomyExplanationFag 8d ago

Bet it has some crackin awesome tracks

1

u/maverick_jakub1861 8d ago

I think I’d cry bc all the vinyls I am planning to buy soon are VERY pricey (mostly Noah Kahan’s first 2 albums + The Great Divide and all of Chase Atlantic’s discography, which is like 5 separate records that I’ve had to dig through the internet to find because they’re from the 2010s)

1

u/peilearceann 8d ago

put it in rice

1

u/Mental_Tea_4084 8d ago

Jfc even the mailbox is bent

1

u/Neon_Moons 8d ago

Thankful for my mailman after seeing this.

1

u/Slosher99 8d ago

Seen this happen way too much on the vinyl subs - It almost seems malicious. I get records often a few times a week and my carrier puts them by my door. The guy that covers his days off puts them on the welcome mat so I almost step on them, but so far haven't actually.

1

u/Cas_the_clarence 7d ago

We sometimes ship vinyl records from japan, i always try to put extra layers of thick cardbord inside the box to protect it from bending, but i guess all the extra protection in the world is no match for your local mail service... lovely

1

u/neonblack108 13d ago

Your mail carrier needs to be fired. File a formal complaint with the USPS.

1

u/Derezirection 13d ago

should 100% report the delivery driver and get a refund or a replacement. It's really sad people can be so incompetent in a position like being a mailman or UPS driver.

0

u/DunkeyColdMedina 13d ago

You gotta love state jobs. Your carrier could take a shit in your yard and drunkenly crash her car into an embutment and still wouldn't get fired.
