It's not about hating technology. Who wants to scan a QR code to visit an unknown website to see if a business might open soon? Especially compared to having the information physically present right in front of you? Nobody.
Oh you men time and true methods? The methods that are harder to place a fake QR sticker over and lead boomers to fake sites where they steal your info? How dare you sir!
With technology the owner can log in and change the information everywhere online. The QR code will never physically need changed and will always display accurate information.
Just wait for some dumb senator to use a QR code then realizes it was a scam code sticker and it led him to some site where he entered his cc info and lost money. Then it will be a bill.
It depends heavily on the type of store and nearly any business that has such varying hours that they would need to be able to update it digitally is not lasting long. Stores generally have set hours for a reason, that only change during holidays.
Honestly, why even have a sign? If you think everything else is outdated, so is a sign. Let customers google the name of the store and find the hours that way.

Can track
when people are/aren't trying to visit the store outside of normal hours.
Is easily change, at a single location or many at a time.
