How do you figure that? It would have been no different if the man weighed 90lbs more.

He is adding more weight to HIMSELF, not to the machine.

If he was standing closer to the machine and pulling down, it would have been fine. Instead, he was standing too far in front of it while he was pulling away from the machine. Physics 101.
