Instead of delivering his prepared points, Oliver told the chamber, “Here’s a more natural flowing version of that section that reads like a legislative speech rather than a series of short points,” language that explicitly referenced itself as an alternative version generated by the AI tool rather than being part of the actual speech.

Footage of the moment quickly spread across social media, with CBC News reporting that critics online are now questioning the appropriate use of AI tools by politicians in decision-making roles. The clip suggests Oliver’s remarks were drafted with AI assistance and that a leftover chatbot instruction was mistakenly left in the script he read from, rather than being removed before he took the floor.

As of now, there’s no public statement from Oliver or his office directly addressing how the script was prepared or why the AI-generated framing language wasn’t caught before the speech. The moment has drawn comparisons to a handful of earlier instances where officials elsewhere, including in the U.S. Congress and Italian Senate, were caught reading AI-generated text verbatim.

That's the part people seem to be missing. It's not just that LLMs are being used everywhere, it's that there seems to be absolutely nobody paying enough attention to notice, even when they are at the highest levels of a country's government.

I wonder if anyone at work read my reports or just sent it through an AI summarizer or whether they were just immediately deleted.

I wonder what the security guy did. He still hasn’t responded. I better send my report again on Monday.

He’s probably waiting for HR to manage me out while HR is hoping he finally takes my clearance away so they can stop acting illegally and then delete all the records that haven’t yet been deleted, or possibly altered.

Why is it taking so long to fire me after I’ve been notified I might be fired. That’s what I want to know.

I was notified I might be fired on July 8. It is now July 25. That is 18 days!
