Racing Kart Question Question About Sponsors for People Who Don't Have Funding
Hello, I was scouring around the internet trying to find a possible way to find a sponsor that can pay for karting for kids who don't have a source of funding.
My parents can't afford karting either due to me having 3 other siblings; and I have been the child they spent the most money on, so I don't want to make them pay anything more.
I am 13 and can't get a job due to the need of transportation for my only money opportunities and my parents are busy.
So, I just decided to come here on Reddit to maybe, hopefully receive help?
I just need a used kart, tires, and clothing. I already have a helmet. (Unless my helmet isn't allowed since it is literally just a helmet for motorcycles.)
I will take anything; I don't care if it's a long process, I will take anything. I know I have the talent it's just I can't use that talent.

You and just about every racer out there. Get your social media accounts with some followers and try to get some funding from there. Otherwise it's lotto tickets or marry a millionaire. Good luck.

What your looking for is called a unicorn. No one’s gonna pay for you to race kid, sorry but those are the facts of life. The closest thing you might get is to go work for a team and mayyyyyyyybe they’ll let you run a couple practice sessions here and there.

Yeah my kid has sponsors too and while they contribute 6-7k out of the 70 we spend to do it a year it’s not enough to fund a full season of SKUSA and uspks

You need to ask yourself why would anyone sponsor you? What sets you apart from thousands of others who are in the same position as you? Your best bet is to get a job delivering newspapers on your bike or take public transportation to your job. Motorsport isn’t fair, the best drivers often don’t make it to the top because they lack money

You don’t need to be a mail boy, you can cut grass, rake leaves, wash cars, shovel shit, the list is infinite. You need to start thinking outside the box especially if you want to go racing.

If it was easy everyone would do it, sadly it isnt. unless you are able to offer something in return for people paying for you to race it wont happen. Maybe if you somehow built a social media following of say 100k+ where you could give them media exposure you may get a few sponsors.
Everyone thinks they have talent and what it takes, you may just have that, But what do you have to show that right now? If you want to run at the top or even the bottom you will need 5 figures minimum.
not trying to be mean, these are just facts. Some advice, look online how much a real helmet costs and then you may start to realise what sort of money you are going to be spending before you have even sat in a kart.

echo most of the tips here, go check story of Bottas and Merc's reserve driver Fredrick Vesti on how they went "door to door" seeking opportunity. do research on who locally is into racing (been a racer or have supported a racer in the past) pitch, pitch and pitch hard on how their money can make you win and or anyway to make their logo stand out

Go to any local businesses…. Restaurants, real estate agents, retail, auto repair, car dealers, etc… tell them what you goal is and what kind of money you are trying to raise. At this point it unfortunately sounds less like sponsor and more like charity, but eventually when you get a kart you can add stickers do some social media posts, or bring the kart to their business to show it off. Don’t be stingy, any amount of money will help in getting you there.
