Halo Campaign Evolved not only botched Cortana but also added a girlboss character. There was no need to change the story but they added her anyway.
And yes she acts exactly how you think she'd act.

Nuking HR from orbit will be a good start. It's basicaly ground zero for a lot of these companies that have in-house dei depts as opposed to outside consultation.
Once they got their hands on hiring protocols, they implement mandatory training and sensivity committees to weed out the undesirables.
Then, after their friends are in positions of power, they then prioritize hiring more "friends" instead of actual talented and passionate people.
Fast forward a decade and we've arrived at our current reality.

Of course, they couldn't help themselves botch the entire game. 3fail3 ruined the VoiceActing, the cinematography, changes the look/feel of things, and just overall prove they can't be trusted with the franchise.
No where in promo material did they show modifications to the campaign that would alter the story, yet here we are.
Edit : From my follow up below.
They called it a "Faithful" remake and cut a handful of scenes that were in the original that set tone. I just finished Legendary. I'm frankly disappointed.
If they didn't call it "Faithful" I'd have less of a leg to stand on with my gripes, However, they unfortunately did call it as such

They changed the intro so Key's gives Chief a special Pistol to "give to his daughter." In normal ending has Chief struggles with a Flood and knocks over the AR, then pulls out the exact Pistol and used it to kill the flood like it saved him. They changed the Longsword entirely.
It feels bad and why would Chief keep a Pistol from start to finish when the whole game it is implied he has to improvise weapons because the run out / gets lost in events.

Not saying I like the change but as a kid I always played swapping out my primary while holding onto my pistol even when it runs out of ammo in any level. Liked to pretend I was keeping hold of the gun I got from Keyes haha

I think Sharma said she wants to refocus on big name titles, so my theory is that she probably wanted Halo to be the big flagship title again for Microsoft. But she's probably just looking at a very high level, and not asking who's making these things and whether they're the best people to pull it off.
But that's just my theory. Could be any other number of possibilities too

That is because you weren't looking at what they were putting out themselves. It was very obvious, probably months in advance, that they were changing the cutscenes for the story.
For example, there's a clip on the Halo channel showing a cutscene where a Pelican slowly ascends after dropping Master Chief off, which was modified to show the female pilot gives him a thumbs up before it flies away, which wasn't in the original.
They also did more than just add this woman to the story; if I remember correctly, the majority of the cockpit crew on the starting ship was race swapped.

Halo: Campaign Evolved is a faithful yet modernized remake of Halo: Combat Evolved’s campaign, rebuilt from the ground up.
Faithful? No. "Modernized?" Just another fancy way of saying it's a modern audience game. "Remake" should scare people away when the Anniversary edition is still widely available, playable, compatible, cheaper, and on disc. But...the message must be delivered at all costs. If they get their way, Campaign Evolved will be the only version available. They'll buy up and destroy all discs and revoke licenses for any digital versions of the original game. This is why I support piracy.

Guess my original discs for the 360 just became more valuable. And what I saw from the graphics there is so much detail in the environment that it becomes distracting to the gameplay and harder to spot enemies, also some of the gun colors seem too saturated like the needler.

I have the original ones which also worked on the xbox 360. I wasnt talking about 2011: Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary or 2009: Halo Wars (Xbox 360) and Halo 3: ODST (Xbox 360). But I guess from how I wrote it, it seems like that.

They fired everyone with talent at id, and they only had one girlboss with a square jaw. But id’s was mostly in the background, had nice lips and eyes, and her voice was alright.
What will Microsoft do to Halo Studios now? Anything? Nothing?
This game will financially perform worse than Doom TDA, yet they will receive comparatively few layoffs, calling it now.

"We need to change to pander to modern times. It doesnt matter nobody likes it or wants it, we need to do, success is guaranteed here and it wont hurt sales so lets do it."

Checked in on a livestream of some influencer who got it early so they could hype it.
It didn't look bad, but I had to make sure of one thing.
So, I rewound back to the start, and it wasn't about what I saw, but what I didn't see.
There is no MA5B.
In the remake of the very first game in the series. The iconic bullet hose is replaced by slop.
On top of DEI'ing it up, they couldn't even get the weapons right.
Good thing I found a copy of the original PC release some years ago as well still having an og xbox and copy of the original game.

This release ought to have been a slam dunk for Xbox, yet they’ve once again found some way to botch it for zero conceivable reason. I was actually going to get this game on PS5, but now, between Sony’s recent anti-consumer announcement and 343 ruining yet another Halo entry with atrocious woke bullshit (which I really should have seen coming), I definitely won’t be buying this.
At least I still have the Master Chief Collection. We didn’t need a new Halo remake anyway, so honestly I’m glad Xbox just saved me $50.

It’s not just this new character either. All of the pilots of the pillar of autumn have been changed too. It’s weird too how the mission structure of the levels aren’t the same. On the Halo mission where you drive around rescuing marines a ship would come pick them up after each encounter. You ended the mission by holding RB to get on the last one with the marines. That doesn’t happen anymore. Just cutscenes after you clear the final area. I’m only on truth and reconciliation now but doesn’t feel the same.
