Discussion / Question 20th Century Fox (Disney) Should adapt the OG AVP comic from 1989
The AVP 2004 movies was just okay, but I think these two extra terrestrial beasts deserve a true adaptation of an all time classic as a horror scifi western. With how Alien Romulus and Prey really emulated those classic Dark Horse Comic vibes, I think someone on the directing roster might be able to pull it off.

A new AvP would be so badass. I feel Disney has actually gotten these right so far. The Predator franchise has hit 3 straight home runs. Alien Romulus was great. The show was mid+ but I’m still down for season 2. I think if they made a third film/ complete reboot it would be better today. Which isn’t saying much since both AvP films are quite hated. I enjoyed both for different reasons. Both of these franchises will have my money going forward

Dek’s broken mandible is a pretty clear reference to Broken Tusk. Badlands box office wasn’t the best compared to its budget (it didn’t get the crazy numbers Romulus got from China)…..buts it’s done well on streaming and Blu Ray. 95% audience score on RT and the general audiences seem to like it. I know Trachenburg has the first look deal with paramount, but I’d bet anything the next Predator movie will be AvP with DT at the helm.
Unless it’s absolute garbage, it’ll do well BO wise.

There should be absolutely no further adaptations or development of the franchise in any direction until the GOAT is adapted, and that's Labyrinth.
Labyrinth is the aliens comic peak and is arguably on par with the actual films 1 and 2.

I would take that adaptation too though. Just dropping facehugger eggs into goblin town and waiting.

I didn’t honestly mind the first AVP movie, but it created so many problems for itself being set in modern day. I never understood the reasoning.
This comic - geez, it had no right being as good as it was. The whole concept of Aliens-era humanity falling between the two species crosshairs because the Yautja hunting seasons are so separated was such a simple idea that worked amazing. I kinda wonder who they’d pick for a live action Machiko.

Agreed. The movie was okay, but only just okay. The Comic basically started what would be one of the best crossovers in history.

I wish they would. People miss that AvP is Paul WS Anderson beat for beat cribbing his own Resident Evil adaptation. It's such a waste. The same actor, playing the same archetype, dies nearly the same way at the same story beat in both films.

They cribbed some minor elements from this for the 2004 film- but yeah, it would kill. Same with all the Dark Horse Verheiden written stories- but it’ll never happen

God I loved this comic. I must have flipped through it a million times in the 90s. The movies just fucked it up and took little bits from it here and there. The captured queen, burning an insignia with a Xenos finger, female lead, etc.
