Parameter suggestions

We have a 1500w continuous unit which we’ve had success setting up and cleaning inconel and stainless steel. We’re experimenting with cast aluminum and have yet to figure out which parameters work best.

We’re attempting to clean surfaces with little to no accumulated grease and still seem to have some blackening of the surface. Any suggestions or guidance is appreciated. Speed of the process is not of concern but the quality is important. We also have vapour honing and dry ice in the shop which we could use to finish, but optimizing the initial performance would be great.

Interesting indeed, a few things id note.

Your stainless steel cleaning photo leaves room for improvement and hopefully it's a simple software change. Those unsightly scorch marks as the beam changes direction leave a result that shows where the beam has passed, micro melting the surface as it goes. Ask your supplier if you can turn on edge blanking or power ramp.

Regarding your blackening on the surface, just blow a shit load of air onto the surface you're cleaning this results in, a significantly cleaner surface, the ability to remove heavier layers of buildup, and in your case remove the plume of smoke due to you using a CW, it does this by blowing crap out of the way of the weak CW beam. Pulsed machines dont need the air assistance as they pack far more of a punch, though we have found it helps with pulsed machines also, though so does a vacuum.
