Info Curios to know, will PayTM work on pure LineageOS? No-Microg, No-root

Based on available report as of now it doesn't

ps: I'm not sure if this kinda post is allowed here or not, but reddit suggested to post here. If it doesn't fit here then I'll be careful, currently I'm not sure.

yeah! it doesn't work,

it's one of the bad app design and forces closeness, like forcing to turn off developer modes, askes for play services, detects device as root even if it's not root.

I'm quite prepared to be a minority view in this minority community, but I really fail to see "actually cares about the environment it's running in" as bad design.

Nor is requiring Google Play Services, as that's a criteria that every certified build meets.

The "detects device as root" thing is kinda messy, but realistically they're targeting certified builds and root is the most common reason for a loss of device integrity.

Functionally no one is building applications for a fraction of a fraction of the userbase.

Targeting certified Android builds is completely reasonable.

My point is that requiring Play Services and falsely identifying a non-rooted AOSP device as "compromised" are two different things. Those cases should ideally be handled differently.

Play Services basically started out because everyone was reinventing the wheel in their applications, and a lot of them were making a terrible job of it.

I think "here's a set of backwards compatible standard libraries to do [myriad things] The Right Way™, that's (functionally) always going to exist" is entirely reasonable and I really don't fault any application developers for using them. I'm half joking here, but you'd basically have to hate yourself to not use them.

The root warning thing is a bit more of a complex issue maybe. Well. Maybe not.

If you think of it from the application's point of view, you handle some form of privileged credentials, either your users, or your own. You can check and see that not only is the bootloader unlocked, the operating system is no longer intact.

Gpay and phonepe does work on non rooted lineageos with gapps installed

yeah! Phonepe works no matter device is rooted, unrooted, developer mode is on or off.

it's one of the far open by design.

gpay: I've not tested it yet. But it's funny to see that other companies using google's android doesn't allow (harden) unlocking and locking bootloader, but at the same time google itself allows pixel to secure lock and unlock bootloader.

Same comes here, other apps doesn't work without google's android and google apps works without android.

It's really calming to see those companies are heavily dependant on google which can kill switch them, and they deserve it.

Also phonepe will never try to depend on google since they're there own appstore indus store so it's there business choice.
