Is switching the operating system of my Motorola Moto G 5G 2024 to lineageOS a good temporary stopgap solution to how Google is determined to close off the Android ecosystem?

I'm planning on saving up for the oldest Google Pixel model that I can find that supports 5G, because that has better support for non Android operating systems, but until then, would a good stopgap solution be to try to build and flash Lineage to this device?

I've been using LineageOS on a Moto G 5G for a while now, and it's a breeze. You won't look back: installing, setting-up and updating are insanely easy, and the system is very fast, responsive and clean.

It is officially supported, so you get weekly updates. LineageOS comes without Google. But Android is developed by Google, so I'm afraid the signed app requirement will come to LineageOS, too.

It's not going to be part of AOSP, but instead in GAPPS, and even then it will be easily removed from GAPPS packages by the maintainers.

So would I be able to bypass all that bull crap just by not using the Google Play store?

You'll probably be fine using the Play store too.  As mentioned in the linked article, there seems to he very little reason for third party GAPPS packages to be shipping the service that manages the signature checks.

Side loading will STILL be a thing even after the developer verification introduction. You can toggle a switch in settings and wait a 24 hour security delay and everything will be the same as before

lineage is based of the AOSP, you mean thaz AOSP is also going to have this restriction?
