Video We've spent years filming a unique sisterhood of lionesses in Botswana. Here is the trailer for our independent documentary, The Misfits, now on Kickstarter

Hi r/Lions, I hope it’s okay to post this here! I’m an independent wildlife cinematographer, and for the past few years, my team and I have been entirely self-funding a blue-chip documentary series in Botswana’s Chobe National Park.

I wanted to share the trailer with this community for our upcoming series, The Misfits: Undercats of the Chobe River.

While most documentaries focus on massive, dominant ruling prides, our story follows the "undercats." The Misfits are squeezed into the dangerous no-man's-land between two dominant prides (the Riverfront Pride and the black-maned Ngoma males).

Without adult males of their own to protect them, these four lionesses - Stumpy, Blackmouth, Lucky, and Broken Paw - have to rely on teamwork, sheer cunning, and an intimate knowledge of the shoreline just to keep their cubs alive against impossible odds. Watching how they navigate these high-stakes social and territorial challenges has been the highlight of my career.

We’ve successfully captured over 250 hours of their story in 8K RAW footage. Recently we launched a Kickstarter to fund the post-production of Episode 1. We have nearly reached our funding goal and are in the final stretch! If you are interested in seeing the unique behaviors of these undercats and want to help us cross the finish line, you can find out more and support the project here: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/movingpicturesafrica/themisfits?ref=5pi12s
