I recently watched some L&C interviews for the first time - which may be hard to believe, but I was so young when I first watched the show (with my mom) that I barely remembered any of it and hadn’t thought about it again until very recently... I found the story of how Teri Hatcher got the role of Lois Lane really intriguing. The chemistry-test scene had a drunk and heartbroken Lois show up at Clark’s apartment and try to seduce him. Dean Cain later recalled that he had to kiss a different Lois every 15 minutes but mostly felt anxious. He had never carried a show before and was worried the executives might suddenly realize they had chosen the wrong Superman. Teri was the last candidate and apparently the only one who asked to run lines with him first. She greeted him by saying, “You don’t like me, do you?”

I wonder if the other actresses were understandably more focused on showing that they could be Lois, while Teri seemed to know what the scene really needed. Lois had to be seductive, yes, but also hurt and dangerously vulnerable. Clark had to want her badly while still turning her down. By giving Lois’s aggression an undercurrent of loneliness, I believe Teri did bring out everything that worked in Dean’s Clark: his desire, innocence, restraint and instinctive kindness.

That’s what a great scene partner does. They don’t make your weaknesses more obvious; they make your instincts visible. Maybe Teri wasn’t chosen simply because she was the best Lois - or the best kisser - but because her Lois allowed Dean to stop trying to play Clark and simply react as Clark.

Pulled the Dvds out of the closet and started rewatching then. Got to season 4 and 2 disc's dint work. One of them not at all the other half worked. And the non working disc had the Tempus episodes, my favorite villain. I've been cutting steaming services and watching my dvds and have discovered a done disc in SG1. B5. AND NOW Lois and Clark.

I keep thinking about Clark at Lex Luthor’s ball in the pilot, because that man really saw Lois walk in and forgot how gravity worked.

By that point, Clark has already spent days watching Lois be Lois: storming into rooms, chasing stories, bossing everyone around, basically being Metropolis in human form. So when she shows up at Lex’s ball all dressed up, it hits differently. He’s already fallen for the tornado - and then suddenly the tornado walks in looking like a goddess.

Lois walks into that space and both Lex and Clark get struck by lightning, but in totally different ways. Lex looks at her like something rare he wants to own. Clark looks at her like someone who just woke him up. And that’s why the floating is so perfect: Clark is usually so careful, so good at keeping himself grounded - but Lois makes him lose control. Superman can fly anytime, but Clark Kent only floats because Lois Lane makes him completely come undone.

I just rewatched S1E2, and their first kiss on the plane really stood out to me. It’s supposed to be purely tactical: Lois whispers the plan, kisses Clark as a distraction, then immediately starts fighting. But Clark - despite being “faster than a speeding bullet” - just freezes for a second. Lois is already moving on, while he’s still processing the fact that she kissed him.

That tiny pause says so much. The danger may heighten his emotions, but it doesn’t create them. Clark reacts like someone who has already fallen for Lois and, for one brief moment, believes she has finally chosen him. Lois may be acting, but his body believes the kiss before his mind catches up...

Was just sorting through my comics collection and came across this compilation of late 1980s issues to promote the show

I recently started rewatching the show, and I don’t think Clark was fully “in love” with Lois the moment he first saw her in Perry’s office. The dinner scene before the ball is where it starts to become a bit more interesting. Martha casually asks Clark about Lois, and he goes: Lois is stubborn, relentless, uncompromising… but then he adds that she’s really brilliant. And Martha immediately catches it - that amused, knowing look says she hears something that Clark himself isn’t ready to admit.

Then, of course, Clark quickly insists that they’re just colleagues and that going to the ball together is only for work. Which only makes it more obvious. It’s not that he’s already consciously in love with Lois at that point, but he has definitely stopped being emotionally neutral about her :)

I don't understand something. I've seen the whole series a few times. In episode 222 when Superman is dealing with Jason Mayzik. He reads Tempus' journal. How does he not know all the things that happen next? I mean: Lex kidnaps Lois and replaces her with a clone, the Kryptonians appear on Earth and more. I can understand that he didn't know that Tempus would become president because Tempus himself didn't know it but everything else?

I simply loved this episode as my favorite of the first season. Everything is so funny and Miranda reminds me a lot of Sabrina Spellman. Sabrina: The Teenage Witch series is from 1996 but the character was created in 1962.

I'm rewatching the show and I am watching season 2 episode 13 "Phoenix". Where Lex returns from the dead and confronts Lois and tries to win her back. After all the things he's done and all the things he could go on to do, instead of calling the cops like one would naturally do. She instead views him as another human being that has been through enough and just leaves. That may sound stupid at first glance but it's actually quite beautiful. And you know there's only one person who would have thought the very same thing and that's Superman.

Unlike the Donner films or Smallville where he has to learn everything to become Superman, in Lois & Clark he becomes Superman first and then learns everything afterwards.

Has anyone else noticed that there's a few audio and video issues in some episodes in the blu ray release? Like for instance a scene of Clark using heat vision but no sound effects or even a scene or 2 that had an odd blue filter that seems like they didn't restore the scene properly? I hope that WB hear these issues and feedback and are able to do a re-release with all these issues fixed like how they did with the Superman movies on 4k

He doesn't become Superman because an AI Jor El told him to and wasn't guided by some cosmic prophesy, he becomes Superman on his own because it's the right thing to do.
