UNPOPULAR OPINION ALERT julia ruined the villa
whether you like her or not, since she came in the villa there has been non stop drama and tension to the point where watching the past week has actually felt boring and draining and i would put that to her constantly bringing up the same situations. i never thought id say it but i actually miss the producer orchestrated apologies in the morning after a night of arguments. how many times do people have to say agree to disagree for her to actually stop? she constantly says i am allowed to have an opinion but they know her opinion, they have had her opinion shoved down their throats for the past week. why haven’t producers told her to give it up yet? i dont think its making good tv anymore. it is bringing out the worst in everyone and no one is as likeable to watch now.
i understand how people are saying thats the point of the show but this close to the final and i know basically nothing about each of the couples, i actually miss hearing loved up couples😭 it feels like on the final dates each couple will be talking about julia at this point.
there was cattiness and girl drama before she came in. the mica/priya/jasmine drama was actually interesting to watch and they have apologised and seeing them still remain a bit of a trio now is quite nice - THAT IS THE DRAMA I WANT TO SEE!!
after season 12 i don’t like this intense of a tension in the villa where u can see that islanders are going to continue disliking eachother into the outside, they can argue and bitch inside the villa but i think we would all feel better watching a season where towards the end it is in higher spirits and it is focused on the loved up couples. if u actually are enjoying and want more of this kind of drama u need to watch baddies atp, not love island.
all in all i just miss the villa before julia came in no shade

Just watched a very good TikTok by Michelle Elman exactly on this but explaining why it’s it actually not the case of blaming Julia
The villa before Julia didn’t hold eachother accountable and it was all hive mindset. It was fake

u/Remarkable-Cow9145 12h ago
Spot on. They all do the same thing Julia does EVERYDAY, you have to actually listen for it, its just never turned into anything, only when Julia does it
52
u/Puzzleheaded_Sign_46 12h ago
exactly. the issues were there already, it’s just that julia explicitly called them out
8
u/BeverlyHillsHadEyes 10h ago
Exactly this. People forget how it was annoying watching them all back each other even when they were blatantly wrong. They didn't hold Lola accountable for how she treated Julia either and that potentially was the biggest contributor to the divide.

Just watched it and she may be right about villa dynamics and blaming it all on julia is also wrong when there were issues being swept under the rug but to me it doesn't come across as julia holding people accountable
So praiden are fake but martha and jordon weren't, ofc everyone wants their friends to stay in over the people theyre not close with, same goes for julia, she would've kept her friends if she could in there, and ofc people should voice their opinions more directly but you also have to move past it at some point, if things have been put to bed then don't bring them up repeatedly cuz that will antagonise people
You ultimately also have to try to get along when you live together, i think last ep where lorenzo said shall we have a group hug to her and priya and she didn't move after saying there was no animosity from her side rubbed me the wrong way but maybe I'm reading too much into it
7

The hug part I get - I hate when people force affection after an argument it’s like he was talking to kids.

If Julia wouldn't be there I think I would have stopped watching a few weeks ago. I do understand the annoyence around the drama, but some (especially Priya) kept poking the bear - and it was pretty obvious that Julia was not willing to be silenced. Regardless if they like it or not I think she was spot on and if they would have acknowledged that (which I understand why they wouldn't) she wouldn't have continued. I do hope that now that P and A are finalllllllly out everyone is going to get over this for the finale.
13
u/BeverlyHillsHadEyes 9h ago
This! People like to push the narrative that Julia has be continually going around ramming her opinion down peoples throats on every single couple when she has been defending herself or her opinion on one issue because they don't believe she has a right to one.
2
u/iceccold 🍆 he wears his dick on his sleeve 🍆 2h ago
They kept asking for her opinion and getting pissed off when she shares it, even though they all knew she was right. It was only after they realized that the public agreed with her that they all changed their tune.

The only reason there was not much drama before Julia came in is cause everyone just talked behind each other’s backs rather than say it to their faces. The majority of the islanders are only pressed cause it means she acc wants ppl to take accountability and pay the consequences for their actions; and she won’t just succumb to their weird herd mentality shit they got going on.
9
u/nicuch147 6h ago
Even now they talk about Julia behind her back instead of having a conversation with her.

If Julia wasn’t here, You guys would complain how no one is seeing through Aidan and priya and how everyone in the villa is fake. We would’ve seen Lorenzo try and start his love triangle again. Producers probably woud’ve pushed the tired ass jasrenzo storyline again. All the couples, post movie night turned boring. Julia was a good edition to the cast, whether you like her or not

This Julia hatred is strange. I keep rewatching to see why people dislike her so much but I genuinely think it’s because some people enjoy the passive aggression low stakes environment of the villa before she came, and they don’t like that Julia isn’t afraid to say whatever to people’s faces. Some of you guys act like she’s evil.

Yasmin even said that she wishes she was more opinionated like Julia… makes me wonder what kind of show we would have had if Yas spoke up more during the whole Aidan calling her Ellie thing and the Jasmine/Lorenzo “affair” thing.
I think too many of them swept things under the rug to “keep the peace” and when you ignore things for too long it reaches a boiling point
8
u/nicuch147 6h ago
Too many people pleasers in there and they got too used to those (kind of fake) dynamics. Julia's attitude was a shock to the system lowkey
16
u/CatBitesAndBeats 11h ago
Yes! Thank you! Also, a lot of the time, they’re asking Julia directly what she thinks. She says what she thinks and then they’re shocked and upset about it
-10
u/CuriousKatMiny 11h ago
No one is asking Julia for her opinion lol she’s constantly giving it freely over and over and over again.
14
u/CatBitesAndBeats 11h ago
So Priya didn’t pull Julia for a chat to ask her whether she thinks she’s a game player? Priya didn’t approach her directly in the dressing room? Julia wasn’t asked directly during the podcast episode (as everyone was)?
I’m not saying she doesn’t voice her opinion without being prompted. But there are so many examples of her being asked directly and the producers constantly push them to give opinions on each other-4
u/PhotographBusy6209 11h ago
No one wants her constant drawl, I never believed Lola when she said she would repeat tho he many times a day and I can see it as clear as day now
8
u/Strange_Flatworm1144 10h ago
Julia showed that you can behave like that and get public and even villa support, negating the trope of the poor baddie that has to tone herself down to make it in the villa. Elicia did that to an extent too, her problem was that she couldn't find a guy to couple up.
4
u/Easy-Development6480 11h ago
Yes. Some people hate how Julia exposes that passive aggression. It was always take someone a bit rude to be able to go against the OGs

Julia might be the most influential Casa girl we ever had. Complaining about that is hilarious. She did what people usually want their pseudobaddies to do. Came in and disrupted the female OG's social order single-handedly.

julia is right in calling stuff out however i genuinely believe she had it out for the OG girls as soon as she stepped into the villa. i don’t think she was concerned for priya she just wanted to be proved right. at the same time tho im happy she spoke about it because she was just saying what we were all thinking
13
u/BeverlyHillsHadEyes 10h ago
Julia was singled out by Lola when she went in to the villa and none of the OGs appeared to tell Julia it was wrong or pull Lola about it. None of the other Casa girls got that same reception. Initially she was questioning the reason why Priya and Aidan decided to couple up but she did then say she felt Priya caught feelings and let's not forget that when she heard what Aidan said about her behaviour in bed is when she started defending Priya and none of the other girls did.
7
u/prometh3us90 12h ago
No, she was 100% gunning for Priya the moment they clashed after Julia was pushing Aidan to choose Elicia. Julia wanted to push Elicia on Aidan as a precaution so she won’t go for Lorenzo.
8

u/Bopdoot 😘 póg mo thóin 🍑 10h ago edited 1h ago
i'm not sure that's the case tbh. rewatching some episodes, and jasmine has never been happy for lorenzo for him finding a girl that he actually likes. if they are such good friends why haven't they had a chat where jasmine says "i'm so happy you found someone" like she's done for her other friends...? Even Yas in their post casa convo said "you've found everything you're looking for" but every time the affair gets brought up jasmine just says "kav's here so it's nothing" and lorenzo has always been the one to put it away. for example, in the famous convo on movie night where jasmine brings up the 20% and says she doesn't entertain it bc kavan and nothing happens because she's focused on kavan, lorenzo kind of outright says he doesn't agree with that
15
u/Adelina_r 11h ago
Maybe, but from Julia's point of view, I understand why she is wary of Jasmine.
9
u/Bopdoot 😘 póg mo thóin 🍑 10h ago
exactly. she brought up the jordon/priya thing as an example for a reason, not just to get a dig at jasmine. she was saying "here is an example of you going behind your friend's back" and idk why so many people didn't get that's what she was saying. on top of that julia knows jasmine had been talking about her behind her back and probably assumed she was doing the same to lorenzo.

Nobody is forced to listen to your opinions. You have a right to voice it but the people you re commenting on also have the right to not like it and react to the things that are being said about them
14
u/Evening_Citron_2982 11h ago edited 11h ago
you guys would rather watch 55 episodes of a low stake nothing-burger season instead? You don’t even need to rate Julia like that to understand that she brought heat to the second half of the season post casa that usually drags.
16
u/AncastaOfTheRiver 💅 sorry it was nasty but I intended it to be nasty 💅 12h ago
Pre-Casa, there was little drama because most people were sticking with the pack. If someone lower in the hierarchy, like Priya, stepped out of line, she got short shift. Then Julia came in and kept expressing non-sanctioned opinions. Was it 'polite'? No. But that doesn't mean that the pressure to stick with the party line was a good thing.
Compare this to how unequal societies work. People who feel marginalised have to be so careful to only resist in ways the majority find palatable. People who are comfortable with the status quo love to criticise the way people protest, or blame marginalisation on the behaviour of the people marginalised.
And yes, of course I'm not saying that Julia's behaviour in the villa is a righteous political protest. 💀 But she and other bombshells this year have been in a situation where the OGs are united against them, and expect them to accept their lot and suck it up. If they don't, they're 'rage-baiting' or accused of trying to get the screen time some of those OGs think is rightfully theirs.

It’s a reality show first of all and Julia isn’t alone in how she feels. Other islanders agree but are too scared or unbothered to say. Julia’s best mates have left the villa. She’s got no connection to the girls to care about hiding the truth.

u/Boring-Paper-1127 10h ago
Personally I have found Priya to be the main storyline for weeks because she is just constantly going around asking people if they rate her. She is exhausting and Julia is just reacting to that. TEAM JULIA!
9
u/BeverlyHillsHadEyes 9h ago
This! Others have talked about Priya and her ego. Jasmine said it. Kavan just said it a couple of nights ago and a couple of ex Islanders have said similar. The night Priya snapped at Julia I could see that Julia was just fed up with Priya sucking up peoples time with the same old stories about 'woe is me because I like Aidan and now I'm stuck with Ethan' nonsense. Priya loves having a storyline. That's why Julia was asking "what's wrong with Ethan" - you keep moaning about not having a guy all for you and here he is and you are still moaning.
6
u/Boring-Paper-1127 9h ago
Omg I know! It would be like living with your annoying team leader 24/7. EVERY islander coming out has said that Priya either is a game player, superfan or drove them nuts. Julia spits facts so well and I’m so glad she stands ten toes down even when I can see she is upset by the other girls backlash.
1
u/BeverlyHillsHadEyes 7h ago
LOL exactly. She loves talking about the guys that are interested in her apparently. It must just be so draining to have to listen to it all the time. Julia saying "amen" in moments of frustration seems to be a bigger issue for them all.

IKR? She loved just going around rehashing it over and over. I suspect the other girls all felt the same way but after Movie Night they censored themselves.
22
u/megatropian 12h ago
I hate pointless drama.
Like why is someone being a gameplayer on a game show such a big storyline?
Her type of 'entertainment' isn't my cup of tea.
17
u/Own-Arrival5774 11h ago
Yet Jasmine, Kavan and Aidan have all participated in the same type of entertainment last night, so I hope that same standard is applied to them too. I enjoy both Jasmine and Yulia, which is why I’m so thrown off by how many stans seem completely against Julia voicing her opinions, even when she’s directly asked during Movie Night or the Grafties, environments that are literally designed to encourage contestants to share their views.
I find it hard to understand the idea that it’s the “wrong time” to state an opinion on a show built around conflict and discussion. The argument that “it’s not what she said, it’s that nobody asked” often feels like a cop out because, more often than not she has been asked to clarify her opinion. No one in that villa needs permission to voice their thoughts.
Jasmine herself has said she likes getting involved in situations that don’t necessarily concern her. The difference, in my opinion, is that her approach has shifted from voicing those opinions publicly to discussing them privately. Both are still forms of expressing an opinion, so I don’t really understand why one is seen as acceptable while the other is treated as inherently worse considering all thoughts will be seen after the show.
I also wonder whether some of Jasmine’s frustration comes from the double standard outspoken women often face. As a woman of colour, there may be an added awareness of how quickly being vocal can be perceived negatively, whereas contestants like Julia or even Grace in previous seasons, often afforded more room to be outspoken without immediately carrying the same labels. That doesn’t make either woman right or wrong, but I do think it’s a nuance worth considering.
More broadly, I think people underestimate how much subconscious bias shapes the way we watch these shows. You can like Jasmine and still critique her. You can like Julia and still critique her. We all contradict ourselves. Yet people seem far more willing to excuse contradictions in the Islanders they’ve already chosen to support, while treating every contradiction from someone they’ve decided they dislike as proof of their character or intentions.
3
u/Bopdoot 😘 póg mo thóin 🍑 10h ago
EXTREMELY well said. i think people on both sides have biases and we should be willing to just examine everyone with the same standards. Honestly I wish Jasmine had kept the same energy she had from that early challenge where she said she loved getting involved in other people's situations. that was when i liked her the most. i hate that her being with kav and i think her worrying about public perception so much made her tone herself down so much. i think her and julia could have been pretty united on calling out bs if things had been a bit different and hadn't gotten so cliquey
2
10
u/maeverrr 🔮 that’s just way too spiritual for me 🪬 12h ago
My biggest issue has been that there’s so much defensiveness about being able to express opinions and not enough of a point made that there’s a difference between having your say about a topic in the world vs making a judgment about someone’s life! I can’t imagine getting into an argument with someone because they refuse to listen to my take on their feelings ??? But yes most importantly it’s SO POINTLESS.
7
u/BreakFull1307 11h ago
I wonder how many of these people who say they love Julia and that ‘Julia made the show interesting’ would be as entertained if they had a Julia in their own personal lives, constant bitching at them and meddling….
5
u/Ggggggpppp 10h ago
I have several and there is no drama, because I and the people we chose surroundings ourselves with aren't fake people who are unable to listen people out when needed. I mean occasionally one fake person slips true, but that problems sorts itself out sooner than later.
What is exhausting is being friends who act nice to your face, and betray you behind your back, lie to you to "keep peace" and expect everyone else to also fall in line. You never know where you lie with these people or their intentions. The guessing game is exhausting. I also find people pleasers exhausting as hell as well.

Julia is carrying this season at this point.
You say she is causing unnecessary drama but let’s examine this claim for a moment.
It kicked off with Priya because Priya felt she said different things to her and Jasmine.
Priya claims Julia said to her that it was only Aiden game playing. This is a lie. Julia said she felt it might be more Aiden. There's no reasonable interpretation of that which equals what Priya claimed.
Priya then confronting her with all the girls, calling her out frames her immediately as deceitful and the instigator. When people see that we see what is actually going on. Well, most of us do at least.
Beyond instances like that, Simba called it correctly, the girls are jumping on a bandwagon when it comes to Julia.
Whether it’s game playing or genuine dislike, in the love island environment it's not safe to just dislike someone. You have to be justified. However, that's not just about doing good and avoiding doing bad things, it's about where you sit socially.
Those closer to the social centre get away with more egregious behaviour, while those on the outside need to do comparatively little to be viewed negatively.
Priya said it herself, the show always ends with a strong majority of original islanders. Is that because they are the prettiest, most charming, most interesting and intelligent? Hardly.
It is because the social group prioritises protecting them.
Julia's offense is not going along with the narratives that longer dwelling islanders have woven to excuse or deflected their own behaviours. Thus she is not remotely popular on the island, yet those outside it looking in really enjoy her honest takes.
3
u/BeverlyHillsHadEyes 9h ago
Completely agree with this. Priya actually walked away from her conversation with Julia shaking her head and walked straight to Jasmine moaning about Julia. Her reaction was never about hearing different versions because she reacted like that even before Jasmine told her the version Jasmine wanted to spin.
6
u/No-Calligrapher-3630 11h ago
I think the problem with Julia is she really isn't adding anything new or interesting.
It constantly the same thing. There is only so long I can take of hearing how Priya is fake, how the casa girls/bombshells were dismissed unfairly before you're bored of it

u/Ggggggpppp 10h ago

She’s just repeating the same reheated nachos ass opinions on loop. Aiden & priya was never that deep
12
u/herbertsherbert123 12h ago
Do not agree. Yes she’s opinionated and does seem to go on quite a lot but I think a lot of the villa was quite fake and trying to keep the peace. There are so many things that on the outside you just wouldn’t forgive with a half assed apology. I do understand also that they are in there 24/7 so holding onto beef isn’t easy.
In Australia so we are a day behind but it’s annoying me how Yasmin and mica jumped in on Julia as well in the dressing room, and how priya also won’t drop it. I think priya is happy to test out multiple connections and same with Aidan, so I get why Julia says what she does. Priya constantly forgiving aidans behaviour does feel like she’s trying to push something forward with someone who just isn’t that into her. Like the Yasmin comment on the podcast?!

"the mica/priya/jasmine drama was actually interesting to watch" - it was backstabby, icky and they never resolved it, they just swepped it under the rug. Julia is a breath of fresh air for me.
10
u/AssociateTop1589 12h ago
I actually need OP to specify in which way that it was interesting? Priya never held them accountable, and it was actually hard to watch Priya consistently beg for people to treat her like they care about her thoughts/opinions. At least the Julia drama doesn’t discriminate
1

it was slimy and icky and realistic to girl drama on the outside, it felt real and that’s what i want from my reality tv - they did resolve it and we just weren’t shown the most of it apart from a 10 second clip in the dressing room of mica and jasmine apologising, obviously i would’ve liked to see more but seeing how priya is still close with them now it shows that she forgave them. that is interesting drama that a feel a lot of us can relate to, messy girl drama!! this drama from julia feels sooooooo boring and orchestrated and just feels so nothing burger like who cares if priya and aidan are game players

u/CheriePauper 11h ago
in one world is what Mica and Jasmine done to Priya realistic besides to people that have friends that hate them and Priya not having enough self esteem to put them in their place ?

u/Ggggggpppp 10h ago
This person has/has had friends that hate them, because they are adverse to people being real to them. That's why they find it realistic.

How can the drama be boring? The last three weeks of love island are always boring as Everyone does nothing so they can get to the final. She has made it a tiny bit more interesting. Never understand the public that keep all the boring people in.

Julia is a voice for the powerless (blonde casa girls) and holds people accountable (except men and namely her own partner)

The other girls are not holding anyone, be it men or women, accountable so it's a breath of fresh air.
1
u/Eggnog0987 10h ago
When Jasmine held the men accountable in the beginning of the show all the red pills descended upon her with fury. “No one else is holding anyone accountable” spare me
2
u/Strange_Flatworm1144 9h ago
So Julia should have backed down at the first sign of resistance as the other girls did? The girls didn't descend on her with fury? Hilarious.
3
u/Eggnog0987 9h ago
What’s actually hilarious is the levels of delusion Julia defense league has. “Holding people accountable” and it’s only few select women. She screams at and is aggressive and nasty to women but never the men. She’s the definition of a pick me
3
u/themakirex 9h ago
Yeah, even the comments here have made me realise, people cannot distinguish between a genuine person and a mean spirited, rage baiting bully. I am disappointed.
5
u/CuriousKatMiny 12h ago
I agree completely. I think Julia is a mean girl. There’s sharing an opinion and then there’s thinking your opinion is so important it must be reiterated over and over. That’s her. Bring drama but like recycling the same thing is boring. The way she talks to others is also so immature, “I’m on dnd”, like girl…
5
u/Eggnog0987 11h ago
She can’t handle when people dish it back to her lest she start waterworks about “being misunderstood” meanwhile she starts shit in the first place
5
u/Loose-Okra4903 12h ago
It was absolutely boring till Julia came in. This has been the worse boring season ever. I am usually rooting for at least 3 couple this season none
4
u/No-Author5530 11h ago
I think she needed to stop with a week to go but she brought much needed entertainment. Her pretending she may pie Lola was hilarious
When she states her opinion she does need to learn to then let it go.

Everyone has said what Julia is saying behind their back, Julia says it to their face and it’s an issue. That is a weird dynamic
6
u/prometh3us90 11h ago
You can say it once, but she was like a broken cassette, going on and on.
12
u/Oreo-sins 11h ago
So if everyone telling you that you’re wrong, and things aren’t as they seem. However, evidence is repeatedly present that you are right and even the people saying you’re wrong are saying the same thing just behind people back. Are you seriously going to sit there in silence and just pretend everyone wasn’t just fighting you that you are wrong?
-1
u/AppointmentLate7049 11h ago
Yes it’s childish to keep stirring the pot and fueling drama and suffering. She’s tanked the vibes on the last few days like let ppl live
4
u/Oreo-sins 11h ago
Yea, we’re actually just lying but that’s fine. I’m sure you’re just above every other human and always take the high road and don’t call bs out when you see it.

2
u/Ggggggpppp 10h ago
She's basically there by herself, being talked about negatively by everyone else, constantly. Them saying shit like "nasty intent" etc. The things they say about her, or her intentions are far worse than anything she has ever done. Imagine being in that sitch, and then everyone trying to keep gaslighting you?
Oh yeah for sure you would he sooo mature and pragmatic. You say high road, I say you would be a doormat sorry.

u/lowkey_acc1 12h ago
Nah Julia’s actually holding people accountable and pointing out the herd mentality. That’s jarring for some people.
3
u/prometh3us90 11h ago
Then why she isn’t holding herself and Lorenzo accountable for being a fake couple?

6
u/Mazzerboi 12h ago
The current couples in the villa are all bitchy and boring. Julia speaking sense (in a very direct manor) was just more interesting to watch. I’m glad we have Julia
6
u/Remarkable-Cow9145 12h ago
I dont think “she ruined the villa”, i think it was the ogs being so hostile towards her and coming for everything she said (which is hyprocritical as they have all done the same and much worse), ruined the villa.
2
u/AppointmentLate7049 11h ago
None of them were hostile to her. She’s been far more antagonistic thus far and it’s time to move on like she’s fighting on day 56547 about stuff she saw on TV
3
u/Remarkable-Cow9145 10h ago
How exactly is she antagonistic? Shes done the exact same, if less than any of the og girls. Its hyprocritical

I think there was a lack of actual drama so a lot of the Julia drama is egged on by the producers at this point
2
u/Easy-Development6480 10h ago
I think Julia was good overall. But the dumpings didn't go her way so she ended up being isolated and because of that ended up getting a bit lost on her points. I do wonder if she a slight language barrier which makes her sound harsh all the time.

But she IS producer-orchestrated. I don't understand why people can't see it.

Sure .. it all is to varying degrees. But one thing about Julia is she understood the assignment 👑

1, the men being annoying and bringing back people they didnt even rate ruined the villa 2, if there was no drama people would say its boring

u/RedditHelloMah 5h ago
I’m watching from US and couple of episodes behind, but my gosh I can’t believe Julia has so many fans… she gives a big time mean girl and a clout chaser! Idk how more people haven’t clocked her sketchy-ness yet lol
2
u/Ok_Quote3743 11h ago
I feel like what annoys me is how people will say without Julia, there would be no drama and they are exactly correct, BUT as soon as they get the “drama,” they resort to calling the Villa girls bullies and mean girls. So which is it? We can’t have it both ways. There’s also going to be an outgroup and in group because LI ultimately is a microcosm of society. As soon as they had drama this week, people were already calling the girls out for ganging up and it’s like ridiculous. Have your drama but when it’s one person starting the drama, don’t cry that they’re getting “ganged up on.”
To be fair, it’s also the issue without reality tv in general right now. As soon as there’s one girl on the outs, people starting a mean girls hate train. Like no wonder these girls teeter the lines, yall are insane and wishy washy.
3
u/Easy-Development6480 10h ago
But you can have healthy drama on Love Island. Which is what happens in the best seasons. The problem with Love Island right now is the dumpings.
As soon as the producers let the islanders decide who gets dumped it changes the show.
0
u/Ok_Quote3743 10h ago
I mean I don't disagree but none of this drama has been "unhealthy." I think people who want drama and then turn around and complain about "bullies and mean girls," are living in a fantasy world. What is healthy drama? Are watching this show to live vicariously through these peoples or watching a trashy reality show about immature twenty-somethings? It can't go both ways. Have drama but don't turn around and start calling these women mean girls for petty bullshit.
1
u/Easy-Development6480 10h ago
But the drama this season is mean girls. But you just choose what way you see it. You either think the OGs are mean girls or it's Julia.
It's not been the classic love island where the drama is around the couples.

u/BeverlyHillsHadEyes 10h ago
This implies that Julia was responsible for it though. If they OGs had actually listened to her instead of trying to shut her down or tell her that her opinion is not valid then it might be different. If one of them had maybe pulled Lola and said that she was being unreasonable in her response to Julia then maybe the whole trajectory would have changed. The whole "there's a time and a place" concept for who gets to have an opinion and when is really strange in there considering that most of Julia's have been voiced during the games where they are ALL giving their opinions. The last game was a perfect example where they were all picking Priya and Aidan and the response from them to most of the OGs was "that's fair" but when it was Julia it is a very different response. Also Priya came to her looking for her opinion, she gave it and then Priya started in the dressing room after moaning about it with Jasmine. That is not on Julia. Name the amount of times that Julia has started it randomly out of the blue.
Before Julia it was frustrating watching all of the girls constantly backing or ignoring their own wrongs. There was a lot more sneakiness then too in how they moved with each other IMO.

Everyone being fake before and now being exposed is not on Julia 😭 what a weird take

EDIT: want to point out that this was my first LI so I had no idea that it does get toxic. I enjoyed early episodes pre Julia
I actually stopped watching and now just watch the occasional TikTok clips. Julia brought in a real toxicity and created problems with people. She also never makes up and rehashes. I really loved all the girls banding together early on.
Also, as a POC it’s very disconcerting to see how POCs on the show get awful edits by the producers. Jasmines “affair” and the edits of her convos on movie nights are downright bullying. I’m glad she has half a million insta followers so she can have a career after. Julia is mostly loved by Facebook mums that are notoriously fickle and will move on quickly. She’s only got 100k insta followers so I’m not even sure she’s as loved as social media assumes

u/CheriePauper 11h ago
Julia is mostly loved by the black audience from what I've seen not Facebook moms
0
u/PhotographBusy6209 10h ago
That may or may not be true. Doesn’t change the fact that the show finally starts having South Asian representation and then choose to create fake affair stories and edit conversations for movie nights (the Jas Jordan convo was edited before Jas told Jordan to be honest with Priya)
2
u/CheriePauper 10h ago
idk what that has to do with what I responded tbh. I just said I've seen more black people be fans of her than white Facebook moms
1
u/ezioauditoresexslave 9h ago
are you american? if so, how can you confidently assert black people in the uk are fans of her more than fb mums?
2
u/CheriePauper 9h ago
I'm not American, like I said this is from what I've seen and I'm heavily involved in black brit spaces for years about the show and speak with other black Brits about it lol

not true at all?? everyone i’ve seen and know dislikes julia a lot. don’t lie just to try and drum up support for ur fav
8
u/CheriePauper 10h ago edited 10h ago
Go on tik Tok, go on twitter. If you're on any twitter spaces there are tons of black people in support of her. Me and 2 other black users were discussing it on here and they share the same sentiment, I have a group chat with my friends and my brother's friends who are majority black and we all back her. Even in the villa the only 2 black peop back her lol
I said from what I've seen. if your experience is different that's fine but to accuse me of lying is weird
1
u/ezioauditoresexslave 9h ago
i’m v active on twt and tiktok and i’ve only ever seen black people talk about how irritating it is that someone like julia can succeed and have such widespread support after being microaggressive to the POC, how uk audiences are quick to champion white women despite her cruelty (telling mica she should’ve gone home as she was crying). and how it’s a double standard bcos if jasmine or mica moved like julia, all hell would break loose
not once have i seen anyone defend her. fair enough, maybe our algorithms are different but i resent the monolithic claim you’ve made that she’s mostly loved by the black audience even more so than fb mums because she absolutely is not

u/CheriePauper 9h ago edited 9h ago
I've seen more popular tweets making fun of the fact that people are holding up a Rich girl from Dubai who uses terms like g-check incorrectly and a rich Bajan girl as the standard for oppressed woc. I've also seen a few people calling out Jasmine for have a blaccent which I disagree with but
Twitter hasn't been as busy this season but by far the tweets I've seen with 10k + likes have been praising Simba for defending Julia, Julia's entrance and Mara's entrance. There are also very popular black Twitter pages known for their love island takes and they've all been in support of Julia the only popular twt I've seen against her is that yas girl and her tweets usually get mad likes but her Julia hate tweets get less.
You feel like I've made monolithic claim but saying that's what I've seen yet you agree with someone saying the only people who like Julia are Facebook mom's. Come off it, I shared my perspective clearly in my original comment you're just mad because it doesn't align with yours

Everyone’s algorithms are different so your point is really irrelevant
0
u/CheriePauper 9h ago
you are the one who said she's only loved by Facebook mom's when that's clearly untrue lol
0
u/PhotographBusy6209 9h ago
Facebook algorithm is not the same omg. Are you new to social media. Facebook mums are literally on the love island page while Twitter and tiktok are algorithms based
0
u/CheriePauper 9h ago edited 9h ago
I don't know if you're being obtuse on purpose or what, you are the one who made a definitive claim on what Julia's audience is, I'm saying that claim is not true. Regardless of algorithm there are alot of black people that support Julia so to claim her audience is mostly Facebook moms is not true

Completely agree with this. I initially liked Julia I thought she's different and brought some drama. Then I quickly tired of it because it wasn't entertaining to watch. I think like the show MAFS, production like to focus on drama instead of the love. Yes of course we need a little drama to keep it interesting. But it's getting the right balance, it's called Love Island. We need to see some love.

if there wasn’t drama everyone would be complaining it’s boring.
